This is one of the Most embarrassing losses I can remember in a LONG time! The only passes not completed over the middle were the ones that were dropped! And Please tell me why we don't use the middle of the field? Almost never! They play like this against Detroit and it will be 75 to 3 !

If I labored long enough, I could come up with something that would substitute Boye Mafe, Dre Jones, and Riq Woolen (“Dre, Riq, and Boye”) for Bob Fosse, Tommy Rall, and Bobby Van, but that would leave Clint Hurtt as Ann Miller. So just enjoy the dancing—it’s some of the most exuberant hoofing you’ll see in a movie from any era. And I do believe that we’ll see this kind of energy and enthusiasm on Sunday. That’s my vision!

Paul...our relationship is new and still a bit tenuous, but I feel compelled to observe that you are off your rocker, old son! I get that you enjoy the dancing 'n' stuff, but dang! Stark raving bonkers!

A TD celebration like that would draw AT LEAST 400 yards in penalties! And another 200 just for Hurtt walking out on the field in that dress!

LOL! That number is almost 70 years old!

I’ll be laughing over your comment all day tomorrow!

BTW, Bob Fosse—the whirligig—is to this day the only person to win an Oscar, an Emmy, a Tony, and a Grammy in the same year.

Last year's games were close because Bwags had monster games against us. He's back on the right side and I think his inside knowledge of the opponent flips back to us and makes a world of difference. Seahawks win big.

Wouldn't it be great seeing Bobby rumble into the EZ celebrating WITH Diggs after a Stafford INT?

That would be SWEET!

I remember in 2012 the (pretty good and improving) Seahawks had just come off of a loss to Miami, a comeback OT win over Chicago (maybe RW's statement game) and absolutely EVERYBODY was worried sick about the upcoming AZ (4-8) game. SEA 58-0!!

Earlier this morning I was granted a vision of the future and I'm telling you, this is going to be a beatdown. I can't promise the final score or individual stats, but nobody outside of the greater Seattle area will be watching the fourth quarter.

Beatdowns are the best...and against the Rams, that’s the cherry on top.

Vision: Geno has a 350/3TD/0INT stat line and stays upgright the whole game; at least one long run by either K9 or Charbs, and holding LA to under 100 yards rushing.

"Afternoon Delight" was such a cheezy song. It came out at the same time I was a member of a trio with two young women and and we covered (or arranged) a lot of three-part harmony songs but never did that one--from the same album however is a sweet, wistful song:

"Ain't it the fall when, the spit is turning

and the lambs are ro--oh-sting,

ain't it the fall."

I will be surprised and disappointed if there aren't at least 3 or 4 Bobo plays in the game plan. Line him up outside the TE and let him go to work, perhaps out of play action. Not sure if this will be the game JSN really introduces himself to the NFL, but it could be. Might as well put Detroit on notice that they'll need to account for him in their game plan.

Paul G's avatar

That would be a lot of targets for the #4 receiver. If this happens, it’s hopefully because the Hawks have run up a huge lead going into the fourth quarter.

When you look at that Rams roster, it’s hard to see how anything but a good hiding getting meted out at Lumen will be seen as a disappointment. But it’s the Rams, and we could barely beat the injury-ravaged shell of them last year. It almost feels like McVay could wheel out the residents of an old people’s home and get them to suit up on Sunday - and still keep it close in the 4th.

I expect and fear a gruelling slugfest, with Edna Sharples going 4 catches for 27 and 1 TD.

After watching Detroit's DE Hutchinson have his way with KC's offensive tackles, I'll be watching how far back they can take stance without being too far back off the line. Seems the officiating didn't catch it, with something said about the lineman's head couldn't be half way off the Center's body. Looked like Hutchinson would have a half yard to go just to make contact. Maybe they just had mercy on the OT, late in the game. I gave him the Ass-Hander's Award.

Hutchinson was a BEAST in that game and given the number of comments on air about it, I would not be surprised if the refs crack down on it. I really liked Hutchinson at MICH. Mafe has the potential to be that guy for Seattle opposite Nwosu. He has the speed/power and has gotten better with his hands.

Expand full comment
JIMMY JOHNSON's avatar

Yeah! Hutch is a Rookie, I believe. Sure made his mark. I'll be watching both our guys to see if their opponents back up and take it as a good sign. If the Rams go too far back, it's an illegal formation, which is what was being bitched about Thursday night. "Too far" can vary between refs, apparently. Maybe the League redefined the formation. One announcer said the lineman's head can't be further back than half the center's body, or butt, or something to that effect. There's a pun in this, somewhere...

Never ever has a football newsletter/column/article/post started off with a “Sound of Music” theme. We’ll done good sir. We’ll done.

Love your visions. I agree almost completely with the 8 sack vision. Only change for me is Mafe gets at LEAST 2.

My receiving vision is that the top 3 receivers each catch at least 7 passes, and number 4 (More Bobo!) catches either a 30+ yard pass or a touchdown.

Finally, Coby Bryant makes a Rams receiver call out for his momma after delivering a Cam-worthy hit on a crossing route.

Good times are a coming. Like Sunday afternoon.

What a great start Joe. I can hear your excitement for the year in your words. This could be your best post ever when considering your ‘bad’ (but not bad) puns, jokes, humour and obvious glee. Now I’m excited for what’s to follow for the year (not football [but football too], but your Substack). We’ll done young man!

I think I agree with Grant though - maybe a little too much with your visions (read: excitement). I do hope they’re right though.

It's too much! It can't all come true! But, I'm liking the lopsided nature of these visions.

My vision is about what I don't see. I don't see Geno, Lockett, or K9 playing the final 3/8ths of the game. Give me some more of that Lock to Bobo connection I grew to love in the preseason.

I also see K9 scoring the Seahawks first TD of the year on a 50+ yard rush. He's just Ken, and he's enough.

The Hawks under Wilson never really put away an opponent. I've wondered if it was intentional when so many games ended in nail-biters. I suppose Payton is about to see if he can still 'turn it on/turn it off' again. If so, watch out!
