Turning down a third in 2019 definitely speaks to how much PCJS liked Penny. Had that been made public at the time, there would have been calls for blood.

Re Curhan, Ray Roberts says that Curhan does not have the requisite athleticism to ever be an effective pass blocker. Great attitude, fine in the running game, but the basic talent to be a good enough in the passing game just isn’t there. In the past, PCJS might have lived with that, but now there’s a reason why they drafted Abe Lucas.

Great point, if the possible Penny trade had been known. It was very lucky P/J turned that down. I don't imagine that would have been easy knowing they would get one of the first couple of picks in the third round. Victoria Chris

Good to know, thanks Paul!

Ray Roberts is always worth listening to. Check out his recent appearance on Seahawks Man 2 Man, where he was able to stretch out and talk about OL play for a good hour.

I don't know what to make of Penny. He's certainly fast and not easily arm-tackled. I thought he was over drafted at the time and wanted Chubb if we were taking an RB. Still mostly feel that way, but like Procise, who knows how his career would look if health had been on his side.

Procise was snake bitten. He sure looked special at times. The one game a clearly remember is him leading us to victory over there the Patriots. It was a Monday night game and he went for a buck and a quarter while catching some passes. The stats might be off by a bit, this is how I remembered it. Victoria Chris

I was visiting my in-laws in Rhode Island that weekend. His performance almost made up for all the "should have run the ball" comments I got when they learned I was a 'Hawks fan. Your memory of the numbers lines up with my own. Sadly I don't recall him having another game like that.

Prosise started the very next game—against the Eagles, I think—with a big play and then came up lame. That was pretty much it.

Look at Penny’s footwork in the first clip and then compare that to Carson’s in the second. You can see Penny’s appeal.

This isn’t a knock on Carson—Penny’s feet are special.

I feel that Abe Lucas will have a hard time, replacing Jake Curhan in the beggining. Jake is a good run blocker as shown in your clips but, not so good as a pass blocker. The oppisite can be said about Lucas. As a Seahawks fan I am very happy the Offensive line is coming together and Fuck the ESPN moronic lazy take, on our off season being the worst in the league; i will not repeat his name, but all of his points are invalid or unprovable.

Kenneth you can tell me if I am wrong, I think Austin Blythe is a middle of the pack center. There is no embarrassment losing your spot to Crede Humphrey; let's go Dee Eskridge. I think Shepley and Lassage should be number 2 and 3 on the depth chart at center. After fine combing their tape, which honestly i did almost nothing, I arrive at this conclusion because they are Canadian just like me. O Canada.

There were a couple of plays you showed that the offensive line got a great three yard push, downfield, from there most NFL backs will make yardage, however Penny did Press home the advantage. On the other's the line wasn't quite as dominant but good enough to give Penny a hole. One play in particular Penny avoided a Lion in the backfield but was aided by just enough of a block so he could get going.

I have always said Penny was good, if he avoids the dreaded soft tissue injury, that will prove true this year. The more he plays the better he will get. Add in KW3 and Seattle will be nearing the top of rushing statistics. It would very bennificial if Carson has recovered enough to play. We know runningbacks are going to miss games. This three headed monster would make our defense better, more rested, and our quarterback better, giving him more time, and less throws. Victoria Chris

Blythe should be adequate.

Another colum request: Regarding LJ Collier, Pete said, "“It’s just his growth, maturity, and all of that should help him take the next step to be a real viable part,” Carroll said Monday. “That’s what we are hoping for.” Do you know anything about Collier's maturity and what made him a healthy scratch for ten games in 2021? Can you tell from the film why he's been in the doghouse?

Penny reminds me a bit of Shawn Alexande in that his legs stop churning after contact. He's got the quicks and vision to turn a short run into a big gain but if he doesn't have a clean hole he's done. What is contact in YAC? Carson made yards after a legit impact while Penny runs through arm tackles. Carson made his money by making something out of nothing and rarely being caught behind the line. I don't think Penny can do that. Where Penny might shine with a QB not named Wilson is receiving. If we can get Penny the ball with a little space he could be devastating. My verdict is that Penny needs more blocking than Carson or hopefully Walker.
