🚨Seahawks release 4 players!
The Seahawks are now under the 2025 salary cap with room to spare
The Seahawks have started the process of cutting down their numbers against the 2025 salary cap by releasing four players on Tuesday:
OLB Dre’Mont Jones
S Rayshawn Jenkins
OT George Fant
DT Roy Robertson-Harris
Assuming OvertheCap’s numbers are accurate, these moves save almost $27 million in cap space, putting the Seahawks at $20 million under the 2025 salary cap headed into the new league year, which starts next Wednesday.
If you’re wondering where this leaves Tyler Lockett, Uchenna Nwosu, and Geno Smith, all of those players have roster bonuses due this month. The Seahawks are probably waiting until the last possible moment to make a decision on all three, whether that means a release (Lockett is almost certainly going to be cut), a renegotiation (which has been the topic for Nwosu), or an extension (which John Schneider said he wanted to do with Geno Smith).
But these were the four most obvious moves to make to save cap space. Lockett should also be obvious, but given his important standing in team history, it wouldn’t have been right to lump him in the same news dump as Robertson-Harris and Fant. In my offseason plan, I started by having the Seahawks release all five of these players, including Lockett. Will Seattle continue that line of thinking?

Today is the 6-year anniversary of Seaside Joe, meaning that I have sent out at least one newsletter about the Seattle Seahawks every single day for six years (2,191 days) straight. In the past, I’ve made a big deal about the streak. Now it just feels like I’ve done that and the streak is just a normalized part of OUR daily lives.
If you are a free subscriber or if you are a Regular Joe at $5 per month, consider upgrading to paid for $5 per month or Super Joes for $10 per month if you want to help support Seaside Joe’s continued coverage of the Seahawks:

Thanks everyone!
Forgot to comment on your six year anniversary, which is WAY more newsworthy than the sports news itself. One of the most impressive feats anyone has ever done. Especially bc that’s 2,191 days of AT LEAST one newsletter, probably closer to 3,000 if you add up all the extras and maybe even more if you’re a Super Joe.
And I’m totally hooked, fully dependent on my daily cup of Joe.
Congratulations Kenneth, a truly amazing accomplishment by any measure.
