Seahawks release Quandre Diggs, Jamal Adams, Will Dissly
Seahawks start the process we have expected: Seaside Joe 1829
The Seattle Seahawks are releasing safeties Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The moves save $27.5 million in cash and roughly $18 million in cap space. Seattle is also releasing Will Dissly, a move that saves $7 million against the cap.
Though there was some speculation that the Seahawks wouldn’t want to part with the safeties, especially Diggs, the money saved was far too much to think that Seattle wouldn’t decide to part ways after making a change at head coach, defensive coordinator, and realistically a new GM. All three cuts were in my offseason salary cap plan posted last week.
Other cuts I have expected include Bryan Mone and Nick Bellore, while Tyler Lockett is probably the hardest pill to swallow but in a similar position to Diggs. They’re both popular players with fans, valuable players in their past, but Lockett has also seen his cap hit and cash flow exceed his on-field value after reaching 30. I wrote six reasons why Lockett might be released here.
Releasing Diggs was also in my article about the salary cap increase and noting potential cap casualties to come this offseason. Also that the Seahawks should “spend wisely” in the offseason and build a long-term vision, not just for 2024.
The Seahawks should have roughly $40 million in cap space for their top-51 contracts after these releases.

Nothing unexpected- just hoping they find a way to keep Tyler Lockett! Excited for what is to come!
This was always going to happen, and there are more to come. A big hug to Nino and Uncle Will. Love those two guys and everything they've done for the team. There is more work to be done, and John is just getting warmed up. In all the mock draft simulations I run I've always tried to pick up at least one quality safety, one iLB, and one TE. It's not easy, depending on how the draft falls. There is some depth at TE and safety, but I'm not sure about the LB group. There are some athletes, but not a lot of real thumpers.
It wouldn't surprise me if Seattle signs at least one LB in FA, but I expect he'll be shopping in the bargain bin.
