Do you have an accurate gauge for how every player on the Seahawks is perceived by other fans? The only way to find out is to ask them and that’s why Seaside Joe’s community ranked every player on the team this week, the first time we’ve done a check-in since the initial edition that we did at the start of training camp.
And the biggest change is a player who has leapt up from eighth to third after he won Defensive Player of the Game in Week 4:
LB Ernest Jones IV
Jones showed the most improvement in the top-10 from July’s ranking, going up from eighth to third. Following up a career season in 2025 when he was named second team All-Pro, Jones didn’t just leap over Sam Darnold, Nick Emmanwori, Devon Witherspoon, Byron Murphy, and Charles Cross, but he has a wide lead over fourth-ranked Emmanwori.
Why these rankings matter
I would have not guessed that fans see Ernest Jones as a top three player on the roster, mainly because the Seahawks are extremely talented! These are the reigning Super Bowl champions!
The Titans — the TITANS! — traded Jones for a fourth-round pick and Jerome Baker in 2024. It would be easy to see that Jones is a top three player in Tennessee, but since he arrived in Seattle he’s gotten better by the week.
In Week 4, Jones had 12 tackles, including a team-high seven run tackles, one interception, and one sack. Through four games, Jones has 41 tackles with only one missed tackle, the second best missed tackle rate for any player who has at least 40 tackles. He also had 25 tackles with no missed tackles in the playoffs.
In 29 games with the Seahawks, Jones has been blamed with zero receiving touchdowns allowed. His passer rating against allowed has gone from 85.8 with the Rams to 63.0 with Seattle.
Jones didn’t come into the NFL as a starter. In year six, he’s one of the best linebackers in the league and he’s only 26. The weirdest part of this story?
He’s risen all the way up to number three and that doesn’t feel like his ceiling.
Biggest Riser: CB Nehemiah Pritchett +27
Pritchett was ranked 57th on our initial survey and now he’s 30th. He played just 8% of the snaps in 2025 but Mike Macdonald never lost faith that he’d thrive with a larger role, perhaps playing some part in Riq Woolen’s free agency exit. He has played in 58% of the snaps in 2026, but only 28% in Week 4 with Trevon Diggs getting a handful of opportunities.
Still, I have a hard time believing Pritchett will disappear from the game like Derion Kendrick did last season. He has some of the best stats against throws by any corner in the league so far, allowing seven catches on 12 targets for 93 yards with a pick and three pass breakups.
RB Emanuel Wilson saw a jump of 24 spots, from 48th to 24th. G Christian Haynes went up 23 spots, from 58th to 35th. Technically, RB Velus Jones has the largest jump — 88th to 53rd — but that’s more of a story of a “camp body” turning into the very last player on the roster right now.
(Some of the big risers you’ll see at the bottom of the order, that’s only because the list used to have 91 players on it.)
Biggest Faller: OLB Dante Fowler Jr. -25
I’m 78.3% sure that Fowler is the victim of unfair placement in the actual submissions page. He was either 71st or 72nd on 44% of ballots. Maybe fans were just tired of moving him up? That being said, has anyone seen Dante Fowler? Can someone check on Dante Fowler?
He has played in 23% of the snaps and he has one tackle. He has one pressure and one missed tackle, which is the same amount as Ernest Jones. WR Montorie Foster also got unfair placement, which is why he’s so low, but it’s not like he’d be in the top-50. Foster hasn’t been active since Week 1, which is fewer times than some practice squad elevations.
Other big falls belonged to CB Josh Jobe, who went from 15th to 25th; G Beau Stephens went from 41st to 51st; and CB Julian Neal went from 34th to 41st.
I said this last month and I wasn’t criticizing Seattle for their rookie class, just stating facts: The contributions this year will be exceptionally minimal.
The optimism we had for the Seahawks’ first three picks has been crushed by injuries. The rest of the class was picked late in a weak draft. It’s good to see that Stephens is out there in some capacity, but maybe sometimes it isn’t.
Notable Drop: QB Sam Darnold -3
Anybody else dropping three spots wouldn’t be a big deal, but in this case it’s the starting quarterback and he went from third to sixth. If I had stopped counting votes an hour sooner, Darnold would have been eighth. That’s how small the gap is between him and eighth place. Conversely, QB Drew Lock has risen by 13 spots.
Defensive Dominance
So six of the top eight, and eight of the top 12, are defensive players. That’s why I stressed that Jaxon Smith-Njigba is so important to this team. We got close to living in a world where JSN was the only offensive player ranked in the top-seven.
Still, I ask myself: If the Seahawks could either have Uchenna Nwosu (12th) in the next game or Anthony Bradford (31st), who would I rather have available? I think at this point Seattle more obviously needs help at right guard than they do at outside linebacker, but that’s just an opinion. What’s your answer?
