Also, dominant win without Spoon, Love, etc. Defense held firm despite a depleted secondary due to the continued good play of the d-line. Kamara has always been a bugaboo for us but held him in check, which was key to victory (in game planning, though ST made it less important). Darnold had some nice throws, he’s much better than Geno.
Well, aside from the positives from special teams, JSN and such, I am still quite concerned with lack of consistent contributions from TE Arroyo, WR Kupp and both RBs Walker lll and Charbonette (I hope I spelled his name correctly).
I understand that teams may put emphasis on stopping our rushing attack, but that is to be expected as Seattle makes no secret of their desire to run the ball. We need to do better. Kupp and Arroyo can be more effective in the play action pass plays with successful rushing.
Charb (see how I didn't have to try and spell it) was at least out today as his excuse. I agree though that there's a lot from that group that we didn't see today
Our Ready Guys were in fact ready. Indeed. In 4 days they will all face some very dangerous and pissed off Cardinal players. We will need every ounce of our A Game.
Favorite play was the Horton return TD. Seahawks games historically have been electric partly for the unexpected plays that go our ways. Felt like the stadium was rockin today - which we need!
Also, this game made me think back to other special teams games. Which I came up with Leon Washington. Fun memories.
With the non existent preseason these days. somewhere around week 3 I think teams start to form. What a great win and coming away healthy for an in division Thursday night game is huge.
Can’t wait for Thursday! Let’s see if Mike Mac continues his dominance of the cardinals from last year (arguably our two best games).
Three games into this and the Seahawks, so far, have been playing like a contender should play.
When facing other contenders, they may win or lose, but the other team feels it and walks away battered and bruised because of it. The 49ers were worse off after playing the Seahawks than before. Mission accomplished.
When playing teams that are middle of the pack, you beat them soundly and expose their weaknesses. Highlight why your team is a contender and they are not. Example: 31-17 vs the Steelers. Pittsburgh walked away from that game with more questions than answers and fell because of it.
When playing bad teams, you roflstomp them then put the backups in to make the game appear like it was closer than it really was. Seattle could have beaten the Saints 60-6 today if they wanted to. 44-13 was a mercy killing.
A couple notes:
When the game was still 41-6, there was a comment made in the chat about the Seahawks being 0-3 on third down. I think they ended being 0-4 on third down when the starters came out. Don't be down on this. They had like 16 first downs at the time and had scored 41 points. 3rd down success rate only matters if the team isn't successful on 1st and 2nd down, so it is really a tertiary stat. Recall the 2013 Seahawks were only like 17th in the league with a ~37.5% success rate. Not great, right? They were also 30th in the league in 3rd down attempts. Context is important.
I've been on this train for a couple weeks now. The 2025 Seahawks special teams unit is no joke. These guys are really on it and have been a major factor in all three games so far. Giving the defense long fields to defend; giving the offense short fields to score points; ST scores, ST turnovers, blocked field goals; everything you could want a ST unit to do, they are doing. I think there is a legit argument that the Seahawks ST is elite and is the top unit in the NFL right now.
Great game. I had fun in the chat. On to the Cards. Begaw!
Fair but they had 5 or 6 d-lineman in a lot of the time. Darnold showed that if teams load the box we make em pay. I do think improvement is needed still.
Really wanted to participate in the chat but couldnt this week. But I did think Seattle took care of business like it was supposed to. I'm a little frustrsted with the running game but they were loading the box so its to be expected. And the huge early lead meant even more that they'd be running. Still, good running teams impose their will so weve still got a lot of work to do
But we definitely imposed our will on special teams OMG!! So unexpected given the preseason slop, but I guess thats why preseason doesnt matter
Such amazing fortune! The combination of an easy win with such pedestrian stats Allowed key players to stay rested and the team to feel good, while the coaches can show a bunch of learning tape. No resting on laurels. Gotta work to get better.
Meanwhile, SF and ARI battered each other. The setup is in our favor.
Sorry about that, Darnold didn’t have a pick like the post originally said

Tory Horton, rookie of the year?
Yeah, I’m getting a bit ahead of things. ;-)

“Horton has two touchdowns…”
Three, I think. Two receiving plus the punt return.

“What was your favorite play of the day?”
When Lock came in early in the 4th quarter.
That's when I knew the game was Lock'd up

Go Hawks what a day

So are we concerned about our rushing offense? I mean it was a fantastic game overall but we could have still had Grubb for all the rushing we did

The encouraging thing is that the Hawks made NOLA pay in spades for loading the box.
Because of the lag between chat and watching the game? If there's anything I can do to help, let me know.
No man thanks, am just traveling and the airport stuff isnt conducive to texting. And then i got on a long call, able to watch but that's it.
K9 had 30+ yards called back on penalties....
Kamara held to 42yds, 2.3ypc!!!
Good points!

Let’s finish those interviews and get to work.
In fairness, pedestrian stats can be a function of outstanding special teams play.
True!
“The bad news is that our lead back will get just ten yards on ten carries. The good news is that he’ll score ten touchdowns.“
Crazy game, very fortunate and great timing.
Darnold didn’t have a pick, might be a typo. We got one though.
Yeah don’t know how that got in there.
Trying to remember Darnold’s pick? Did I miss that?
Sorry about that. Updated.
