This video is great and everyone should watch it, but I’m posting it because there’s a graph showing how many times teams were featured at SNF (MNF when it was on broadcast TV):
Jeron Reed over Puna Ford playing out of position - Yes
Bobby Wagner over Cody Barton - Yes
Julian Love over Ryan Neal - Yes
Devin Bush over Tanner Muse - Yes
Evan Brown over Austin Blythe - Likely*
Then there are the 2022 draft picks - nine of them on the team still. 2022 draft class with a year of seasoning - Yes
2023 draft class Devon Witherspoon over Michael Jackson - Likely (if not, Jackson better with last year's experience) - Yes
Jaxon Smith-Njigba over Marquise Goodwin - Likely/Yes
Zach Charbonnet over Rashaad Penny - Likely/Yes
Kenny McIntosh over Travis Homer - Maybe/Likely
Derick Hall over LJ Collier - Likely/Yes
Anthony Bradford over Phil Jackson - Likely
*If Evan Brown does not provide an upgrade:
Olu Oluwatimi over Austin Blythe - Likely
Now - to keep this thing honest:
Cameron Young over Puna Ford playing out of position - No/Maybe
Nobody over Al Woods - No
Brian Mone injured over Brian Mone healthy - No
Thus, once we bring in two Bigs (Al Woods, and?), then the only 'No' is Brian Mone being injured.
Totals - 6 Yes/Upgrades, 3 Likely/Yes, 2 Likely, 3 No, and 9 second year development improvement. That is a Lot of year over year improvement. 2022 record 9W-8L, last NFC Wild Card entry and lost to the Niners.
How much will all this improvement show in our record? My guess is the Niners repeat as division champs and the Hawks are the top seeded Wild Card team in 2023.
Julian Love is a very good player . But before he's even played a down to say he is better than Ryan Neal , Come On ! Ryan Neal was probably( he was IMHO) the best Player on Seattle's D last year. If Witherspoon isn't starting, I would be hugely surprised. Number 5 pick on a CB ,he better step up!
Hey I live in Dallas so I get to pay now get YouTube if I want to see the Seahawks every week and I do so more national games just means I am paying for more content I care less about. That being said I find the QB narrative interesting - people watch QBs not teams and therefore scheduling NFC in primetime is matter of contractual obligation rather than a choice. I am sure that it is true in part but I am note sure it is totally correct totally correct. My belief is that people watch drama. High scoring games, close games, and meaningful games generate drama. Compelling drama happens when two out of three are present. Great drama happens when all three are present. I am the first to admit that the presence of a great two great QB contribute to making those three elements more likely, but I don't think the presence of great QBs is guarantee or even a perquisite. I also see why the networks might believe that games involving Seattle are likely to be dramatic. Last year the Seahawks showed they did not necessarily need Wilson to win so there is a good likelihood that the Seahawks games will be relevant. Our offense is likely to score points while our defense is not yet improved to the point where the score is likely to be lop sided. In short Seahawks games have a chance to be dramatic and that will bring eyeballs.
These games should Only come after teams have the prior week off. Week one of course works. Then the week after a team's Bye, etc. The League, the Players and the Fans all get what they want.
The games would be less likely to suck. Players are less likely to be injured and the NFL gets to charge a shit-ton for advertising during those games. There would be several weeks where it is too early or too late in the season to do TNF, but in 18 weeks, there could still be like a 10-ish weeks that work. That'd be cool.
The other reason to have the Hawks play on Sundays (day or Night) and Mondays only is those TNF, full-coverage Action Green uni's are...um...not so tough looking.
I'd like to see Thursday Night Football abolished, but that's not really what your asking is it. I would also like the WFT to forfeit every home game until they get a new playing surface but that's probably not going to happen either.
The Cardinals stadium too - that stadium in Glendale took out several Hawks over the years, including Earl, Sherm and Jeremy Lane. His was particularly gruesome when it happened during the Superbowl after an interception.
Lane’s injury was key to the outcome. Brady picked on Tharold Simon the entire game. Once the Hawks mounted a pass rush, they were able to protect Simon until Cliff Avril went down. Those two in-game injuries were decisive.
Amen - Two injuries and some questionable coaching decisions lost that game - it shouldn't have happened. In some ways it reminded me of The STEALERS game- we were so thin on D and when we lost the one Nickle and corner we got picked apart. But still would have won that game without the Refs making FOUR Horrible calls!
Absolutely correct. It's rarely mentioned 'n i forgot about how much that influenced the outcome, that 'n Browner playing for the Patriots who knew Russ so well and blew up the play.
True. BB totally blew that play up. I was almost proud for him but it hurt too bad being a 12. Nevertheless, Russ threw that interception.
Remember how he rarely threw that close to the line, and virtually never over the middle for the same reason. He needed more room to see the action. Sure, call a pass but Do Not call one where your QB is not likely to get a clear line of vision with the Superbowl on the line.
Better yet, have Beast Mode run it up the other guy's face. Over, and Over, and Over, and Over................
Praying that we don’t get 2 TNF games - personally think they shouldn’t exist at all. Especially with the addition of games, we shouldn’t purposefully make short weeks and the increased chance of injury. And god help us if that’s on AZ’s burial ground.
We did collect some nice Bigs in the draft but I was hoping. Based on what I know (not nearly as much as NFL decision-makers do), I was really hoping for Jalen carter to be a Seahawk. If he was snapped up by Detroit at 6, I would have questions. Since he was passed on at 6, 7, and 8, clearly there is no need to question team judgement.
Philly's Howie Roseman's choices are worthy of full and complete trust as the dude is the one GM who has consistently been at the top of the NFL in talent evaluation - along with our guy. Perhaps Carter was the kind of choice worthy IF your team is already there.
That said, we sure picked up some intrigue in terms of players who got the IT-Factor in addition to being Players. I am coming around on the prioritizing of the 'It' over the 'Talent'.
As for Prime Time opportunities, the NFL and the Networks are poised to showcase talent as well as tell stories worthy of keeping eyeballs on the tube, even if the viewer does not have a stake in the game.
The Seahawks were on National TV a Lot during their run because they were so compelling to watch. This team is shaping up to offer similar intrigue and since the talent is rising to match, I suspect we will see a Lot of the Legion 2 - Electric Boogaloo.
Now get us a couple more Bigs - sign some Free agent Beef please :)
I don't know their names, but there are some serious contenders to become future DT's in this league who are UDFA's signed to our squad. They come in the last third or quarter of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hS5USCHEDA
Generally, this is not a topic at the top of my mind, or even on the bottom of my mind. However, I read the complete article with interest, and will now give your question some thought...
I never get tired of the Niners versus the Hawks. I also love a good blowout when the Hawks are the ones doing the blowing outing. I'm kind of adopting the Lions as my pet team. As a fan, I am married to the Seahawks, but it's always nice to have a pet.
What has Denver become to the Hawks? The most obvious metaphor is a punching bag. Denver is our punching bag, so that would be fun, but it's not on the schedule or you would have mentioned it.
As I said, not a subject of huge interest to me, but I've given it some thought now. I'm sure hoping you don't write an article about our uniforms. I know others think about that stuff, but to me it is a total waste of time. I am reminded that without differences life would be unpleasantly boring.
As far as I am concerned they could play in their pajamas and it wouldn't affect me. And that is what those glowing all chartreuse uniforms look like. If they would use a chartreuse
as endzone color they could at least use it as camouflage. I've seen a couple of interceptions that could only be explained as the QB just not seeing the guy as he was the same color as the endzone.
I can see the Seahawks with an early Monday night or Sunday night game. I sure hope they are not asked to travel to the UK. The time zone difference is a killer even though Pete wouldn't admit it in public. Other than the one Thursday night game I see no firm commitment. There is a strong possibility we flex into a Sunday night contest or two. Has our defense improved enough ? That is my concern and I'm not sure. I still think we need AL Wood, that could happen in June or July. It would make me more confident.
You didn't get me till you brought up Al Woods.... yes, one demerit for misspelling his name ... so I have to agree. Big Al will definitely be a big help, especially until Mone is all healed up and ready to go 100%.
I think you're 200% correct with the vs Cards being TNF. My only hope is that the previous Sunday game is a gimmie against the Giants or something, so we can escape with two fairly simple wins and minimal injuries (or even 1-1 and minimal injuries, lets not have the season derailed on a short week vs the Cardinals). Beyond that I don't really mind when or where we play teams (probably because being an international fan times are often inconvenient. Plus I won't pay for Sky and need to check my budget if i can pay for GamePass this season).
I am another Victorian, but in Australia - not Canada, and get GamePass. It’s great but quite expensive. I always think that they should offer a team specific registration where you only get your team’s games for less money. I think more people would sign up to that. Not everyone wants to see every game, and not everyone can afford the cost of it. And who has the time to watch every game! The same goes for our Australian football broadcasters.
I Get the NFL network as part of my cable package. I also get every Hawks game living in Victoria BC. Maybe there is an advantage being Canadian and the NFL. I was living in Thailand every year for around 4 months and the later half of football season. Until Covid hit, maybe again in a year or two, darn commitments . I had Game Pass and loved watching all games when they were broken down to 40 minutes. I always watched full Seahawk games.
The Games-In-40 are super useful, especially for catching up on the best games of the week. I have my fingers crossed this is available on the basic tier with the GP changes for this season. Then I can easily justify that level of cost!
[I'm paid up on SSJ for the year already, and frankly he's already earned the renewal when it comes around ]
Something is wrong- I have an antenna that sometimes even gets signals from Seattle here in Centralia. Granted it's 35' in the air and was quite expensive (for an antenna) but that is all I used to have until I was able to finally get Century Link internet and stream everything now. Best of Luck!
Live streaming can be done - I was told to search 'NFLbite' - select the game I want, click on the one 'provider' that is offering the game with the largest number beside it, and be Very careful how and where you click on the link they give you. There are a number of goofy things to click on there. you will want the link that is not as obvious that says 'watch game'. Because this can trip you up, I do not actually endorse this...I bet someone put up a YouTube video that shows how to navigate it though...
BTW - we switched to Ziply in March, who offer Fiber Optic, extremely fast speeds for a fair bit less than comcast. Plus they are local and most importantly, they are NOT Xfinity!
This video is great and everyone should watch it, but I’m posting it because there’s a graph showing how many times teams were featured at SNF (MNF when it was on broadcast TV):

Great post!~ Love seeing the Hawks on primetime or big Tv games . The more the merrier, except TNF ,hope they only have one of those!
Dude you are BACK! On a long flight and I land to see two Seaside Joe’s in my inbox!! Even better than a short line at Immigration, awesome!!

Tariq Woolen and I share a birthday! How cool is that? I'm sure Riq is excited about it too.
Watching from South Germany i would love to see no Game played in Prime Time. Guess i'll have to live with that not being the case. :D
Thursday Night Football

Plus have a receiver that is used to making that route be the call , not one who rarely if ever ran that route.
Praying that we don’t get 2 TNF games - personally think they shouldn’t exist at all. Especially with the addition of games, we shouldn’t purposefully make short weeks and the increased chance of injury. And god help us if that’s on AZ’s burial ground.
Along with the international games which throw off a team's continuity, all for the "NFL" to expand their brand.
Where's the Beef?

I thought it was Wood Oops. Big AL Woods deserves every letter !!!
Good thing you had the S in 'Woods' right as Big Al's Wood is a totally different mental picture, if you don't mind the forest---- LUL.
Generally, this is not a topic at the top of my mind, or even on the bottom of my mind. However, I read the complete article with interest, and will now give your question some thought...
