Moving forward as with all teams Health is a biggie- I would like to see the Hawks pick up a big ugly for the middle of the D. On Offense I would certainly like to see less of the horizontal plays they run, they seldom bare fruit! On D KEEP DW at Nickel !!! He is the best (so far) they have had there in a long while! As the youngin's become more accustomed to playing together and listen to their leaders on the field I see them getting better as the year goes along. As The O-line gets back together and gets Reps together, they need to get the run blocking just a bit better I feel. If they do these things they can be in the Hunt for at minimum a Very Good Year! Go HAWKS!
I know Pete doesn’t like to scheme a defense against one player. But maybe he could make an exception for Chase. Take Chase away, and Cincinnati’s offense doesn’t have a whole lot.
You gotta give props to the Cardinals, they are much better than their record and genuinely worry me. Divisional game, they're gonna be right up for it, and it is like the Wk1 Rams, a massive banana peel in waiting. Another major warning sign on giving out massive QB deals too early and without ways out, but credit to Murray he's got his bag and can just chill out with CoD MW3 next month
Tush push should be banned because it is assisting a ball carrier in ways other than blocking for them, and that used to be the rule. No RUGBY, please.
It is legal (since 2005) for Offensive Players to push the ball carrier [There are restrictions and more detail to this, none of which are broken by the Ass Blast as it is currently being run]. This applies to the Ass Blast (which i'm calling the play, because it's better than Tush Push), to the normal QB sneak, as well as to a Runner who's being held in a tackle (seriously, just think how many times you've seen OLine bundle into a maul when the RB is being slowed - that's the same as the Ass Blast and no-one's ever complained about that).
Honestly, if an NFL team really tried to implement some more rugby style plays (like a genuinely designed Maul, or designed multiple laterals, as well as learning how to tackle properly and safely) they could become very fun to watch and a nightmare to play against (c'mon Pete, give me a coaching job!)
49ers are crushing the 'Boys 42 to 10. No teams (so far) has had an answer for the 49ers offense really and that is concerning. Dallas was supposed to slow them down but that didn't happen. They are really the team the Seahawks HAVE TO beat to reach their objectives and it will be interesting to see how the two teams square up this season.
On the train home from Levi's now. Cowboys defense held up on a few drives, but ultimately crumbled as their offense hung them out to dry. Through much of the game, Niners receivers were wide open all over the Cowboys secondary and Brock Pirdy had little trouble hitting them. If our defensive backfield is all healthy and on point when the time comes, maybe we fare better.
That said, I will be both surprised and delighted if our guys can win one vs this SF team. 49er fans often make the same remarks about Seattle that I see Seahawks fans make about LA and Arizona -"we *should* beat them, but they're in our division and games against them always get weird" -but I haven't heard that much since the 3-game sweep last year.
Inconsistency like Seattle has shown in most games so far will likely yield a serious beatdown, so I'm hoping the "improving" trends stay that way. Here's hoping we're ready for SF - and the other tougher opponents - when the time comes!
I don't like comparing Purdy to Brady but it's becoming ever harder not to. Late late round draft pick with zero expectations, unexpectedly thrust into the fire, but aided by a top tier coaching staff, able to rely on a top tier defence - except Purdy also has better weapons than Brady did. And he seems to process and play in a similar way, he knows his role, he knows what his players are doing, and smartly reads and gets the ball away securely. He absolutely seems like the real deal, in the right place, doing the right things and deserves a lot of credit
I was reading through the rules (by which I mean I literally downloaded the NFL rule book), and, well... I can't see a rule that prevents the Defence stacking the LOS, provided there are no more than 6 players on one side of the Snapper prior to the snap. The Defence could match the line-up of the Offence and Ass Blast their own player to drive them further forwards as a counter to the Offensive Ass Blast (what a phrase to use when talking about serious football rules...).
I'm not a full on deep rules expert, so if someone can point me to the rule i'd be more than happy to be wrong.
Note that play used to be illegal. Players were not allowed to “push” the ball carrier forward. Block sure, not come in behind everyone and slam into their backs. Sort of like leaping players on kicks is now illegal. I guess it was the signal by officials that someone apparently thought was offensive. Two hands going forward like a guy grabbing someone’s derrière.

It was interesting to see the 49ers D attack the Cowboys best D player - Parsons. It worked superbly as they had nothing otherwise it seemed.
Sorry, I meant to say 49ers O-line, not D.

Looks like the 49ers are good and Cowboys are? Purdy is the real deal.

And he seems super accurate.
Tush Push: The defense can't do it, so why would the offense be allowed? Just be fair.

I 100% agree with your opinion @seasidejoe
