Baltimore is a hard city with hard people. Their Ravens reflect that. This is not good country for young men, especially rookies. Adding Old Man Peters to our offensive line will fit greatly, as he calms the guys and comes up with schemes to deal with whatever reality is dictating. Kick-ass solutions done in real time. I caught him working his Rookie partner Bradford last week in the huddle, pulling on his arm and dispensing Wisdom. The guy is a pleasure to watch. We can expect sideline huddles all game, all too rare lately. I love the Williams addition, as he comes to the team without disturbing the Peace and Harmony so vital to teamwork. He can play the 5 Line positions, which telegraphs no specific threat to any one player, unlike the Chase Young pick. Those are the unavoidable realities which begin to pick at a player, who begins to not see a future with his teammates. They get quiet, nice platitudes don't cut it. Reverberations begin. My bet is Pete considered this. No doubt he'll have them ready for a boxing brawl come Sunday. A rugby scrum all day, every play. Geno won't be distracted by the home crowd going silent after a disastrous 3 and out. (or worse) I suspect he plays better on the road, away from it all. If anything, the quiet is a solid sign he's doing his Job.

The Seahawks are good enough to beat any team, and inconsistent enough to lose to any of the good teams. Against the Ravens, Cowboys, 9'ers, and Eagles......I think there is every possibility that they come out 3-2 or 2-3, which will be good enough, especially if one of the wins is against the 9'ers.

Cards & Browns were scrappy on offence and that's just where this team is with Waldrons game planning & Genos execution. Given the Ravens up&down nature on offence they are due for an Up, and that's going to cause us issues and lead towards another 20-24 style game. At this point in time the Moons should be a walk, except we don't do easy wins so whilst the Offence again should have a confidence boosting day i don't think they will. Which brings us to McVay & the Rams, a game I really don't want to have.

As of right now i think we'll be 3-2 over these five (3 vs Cards, Browns & Moons, 2 vs Ravens & Rams). But if we get the Ravens on back-to-back downwards offence weeks, and the Rams sans Stafford it could be 5-0. Shame those are both beyond our control.

There’s a real possibility Seattle loses to Ravens, Niners twice, Eagles and Cowboys. So 10-7 if they can win the rest, which right now looks like a wild card. Is why the Rams loss W1 and the failures against the Bengals are so costly.

I think all those games are 50/50 games. I think we win 3.

Yes I have high hopes too — at least one SF and catch the ‘Boys on one of their listless days. And maybe our corners can slow down AJ Brown (although I’m personally not seeing a 2nd year leap from Riq like I was hoping for). That would be 3.

But could lose all 5 nail-biters.

OK- Over the next four the Hawks really need to go 3-1, with a win at home over the hated Whiners! Hopefully getting healthier on the O-line and adding Williams they can accomplish this. The Ravens are Tough, so that would be a great win! Against Dallas down the road my biggest concern is how well Dan Quinn is at his job and the fact he understands Pete and the team philosophy! Wish we had him here! I believe Philly is a crap shoot, but since they are here we have a good shot!

Just like last week vs the Browns, the test vs the Ravens is one the Seahawks must pass if they are going to

a) win the NFCW

b) have a shot at the #1 seed.

A win vs the Ravens will be "legit" as Pete might say. It's another 10 a.m. game so it will be Brunch time again!

I'm thinking crab cakes.

Baltimore is famous for their crab cakes. Best you choose something else or the football gods may have you pulling for the wrong team.

I have been doing that all season lol--and writing about it on Doug's Fresh. That is why I immediately thought about crab cakes because Ba'more is famous for them.

Just put the eggs benny ontop of a crab cake instead of a muffin? 6pm UK time so perfect for dinner, and because pumpkins are cheap this week that'll be going face first into a homemade pie (i'm an adult, I can just eat desert for dinner and no-one can stop me!!!!)

Yeah that is exactly what I am thinking of... a crab cake with a poached egg and hollandaise ... need to find a good side with some sweetness to it and acid to round it out. Fresh fruit would be the easy thing to do.

I think we’ll be 7-3 after league week 11. Love to see them at 8-2, but this Sunday will be tough. Should be close, but may be a loss. Really, I just want to see the offense show progress and have no interceptions. I have no worries about the defense.

I was gonna comment that it could be make or break for Geno this week, but then I thought about it and realised that we’re probably now too far into the season for Pete to consider making the change. This game should be treated like a SB by the Hawks. A win could lift the confidence, then the sky’s the limit. But a lose (depending how bad) could have the opposite effect.

This time of the year is weird. The shake out comes into ever clearer focus, though teams can always surprise. Particularly if our time frame is a single week.

If we win all of those games, it does not in my mind mean Seattle is suddenly a strong team. It's just that our competitors were weak. I'd change my mind -- as the argument is circular -- if we beat teams like the 9ers and Eagles. Or even lose toughly contested games.

You don't think beating the Ravens on the road at 10AM would be a quality win?

Expand full comment
Parallax's avatar

I do. Not as impressive as beating the Eagles or 9ers, though with any win it depends on who's active and how the other team plays. We've seen the 49ers not playing well lately and even the Eagles had a bad game.

All I can do is think about the Ravens this week. There’s too many scenarios which can develop depending on the outcome.

I think our defense is playing better each week and could finish the year as a top 5. Our offense hasn’t played their best game yet this year and I expect they’ll get a little better each week.

Maybe they need to develop a hero or two, where, you feed K9 the ball 8 downs in a row for a TD or hit JSN 5 or 6 times consecutively and score. Other teams have players that are going to get the ball and everyone knows they’re going to get the ball and the other team can’t stop it. We don’t have that. For whatever reason maybe it’s for the same reason we have had such a difficult time scoring TDs when we get to the Red Zone.

To be at least 7-3 when we play the 49ers would be pretty cool, but, the Ravens are first.

I actually hope both the offense and the defense haven't played their best games yet, because peaking early or even mid-season peaks are death in the NFL. The offense's best game so far was against the Lions, the defense's may statistically be that Giants game but is really that Bengals game. All of those were road games, that's encouraging!

They need to limit Action Jackson's runs when the play breaks down. If they can do that effectively they can win this game. They need to do better than they did against the rocket scientist, Josh Dobbs. Hopefully our new acquisition can help bottle him up.

It's a bit early for the vision board but with the weather getting colder everywhere, the run game becomes more important. K9+Charbs, who has looked like he could go off at any time, might be the key to winning vs the Ravens. Long drivers, keep the D fresh, shut down the Ravens run game and limit the passing. Kinda a prequel to playing the 49ers except the QB is better.
