Seahawks fans should just accept Seattle's schedule for what it was

Sea's All That? Let's take a closer look

You can love the Seahawks, support the Seahawks, and believe in the Seahawks just as much as ever…even in spite of what I am about to write. In fact, I think you can’t fully love something or someone until you fully accept them for who they are, who they were, and hell…who they want to be.

Treat the Seahawks like a love interest, none of whom are ever worth rooting for if they aren’t stumbling down the stairs once in a while…

From the Russell Wilson trade to the “Russell Wilson game” in Week 1, I treated the Seahawks like one of the worst teams in the NFL. I flirted with the possibility that Seattle could get into the playoffs because a) I wrote that Pete Carroll is the type of coach who could get any team to .500 and b) the NFC was sure to be bad enough to let a .500 team into the postseason.

But I’m not going to lie now (or ever) and say that I expected the Seahawks to win as many games as they ended up winning. Or that Geno Smith would be a wire-to-wire starter who would rank among the NFC’s top quarterbacks. I wrote that either Geno or Drew Lock could be as good as the 20th-best QB in the NFL simply because there are always at least a dozen replaceable starters.

However, I was steadfast in my belief that Geno was a backup quarterback and he proved to be a capable starter.

Being wrong is good, being wrong is grand…Netflix has thousands of titles on-demand.

So I know that when the Seahawks and a quarterback for your favorite team surpass expectations that the last thing you want is cold, wet rainwater splashing on your brand new…uhh..homework assignment?

Not sure the origin of that idiom. But let’s go back to embracing acceptance. Acknowlege reality so that you can be your best self tomorrow.

The Seahawks went 9-8. The Seahawks made the playoffs. That’s good. I always like having more Seahawks wins and more Seahawks games to watch.

Also, the Seahawks not only played an easy schedule, they played an easier schedule than anyone predicted and the Seahawks were one of the worst teams in the NFL after October. Seattle’s acceptance of their mediocrity will help Pete Carroll and John Schneider work harder to not be mediocre next season.
