Last year, it felt like our Defense carried us to and through the Super Bowl. Again. This time, MM won't let that slide, as happened under Pete. Mike knows what it takes out of guys when there is no sharing the load. This time, it feels like our Offense knows this debt exists and is intent on seeing it honored. All this and it's only Year 2. Run it Forward, Boyz.
But if the Seahawks play as well as they’re capable of playing without these errors, they will be unstoppable.
I wrote some months ago that I have a preposterous fantasy that our Hawks go undefeated and accomplish the perfect season coming up. It would eclipse the 72 Dolphins and just shatter that record. It would also almost certainly result in all the data and measurements as simply the undisputed greatest team of all time in the history of the NFL if not the greatest team of all sports period. I know I'm dreaming. I must be high. Everyone is going sheesh.
But, this fun. It's all house money. When we do lose our first game, it'll pop this silly soap bubble. The season is still a ways away. Hard Knocks will be coming. Lots of fun to look forward to at training camp. But, really, SJ's last sentence is not outlandish. The wild card for all teams is injury. It can happen to anyone and derail everything. Look at the Colts last year. Miscues and boneheaded self inflicted mistakes can happen. We will certainly turn over the ball multiple times via interception, fumbles, whatever wacky way. There will be no such thing as perfect mistake free football for a full season.
Because just about everyone except for a few notable players are returning, this is a seasoned winning championship team that arguably won it all ahead of schedule. I can imagine that they are going to continue to be dominant defensively and just stack win after win. They have the championship in their back pocket. These are not complacement people. The team culture is all about process and not results oriented. I love that! They aren't looking back to repeat. They are simply focused upon the present and focusing on everything to do with the process of becoming the team that they envision and want to be. That's it. That's what got them there. Even AJ Barner in an interview (I paraphrase) said they suddenly looked up and realzed that they won the Super Bowl. They were simply so dialed in with the process of work that they lo and behold won the last game! I think that is so brilliant. The messaging and culture of this franchise is to be as great as a team that they can express themselves to be. Let the chips fall where they may. That's why it doesn't matter that the Rams got Garrett or other teams have upgraded and whatnot. It's not about them. It's all about us. Just focus on the process and becoming the team they want to be.
I really think that we can be unstoppable this upcoming year.
"if not the greatest team of all sports period." ... this one's tough as comparing all sports is basically impossible. That we go Undefeated, well that would be good enough.
Seeing how mistake prone teams like the Jags & Texans were, yet were still both playoff teams and should arguably have gone a stage further in the playoffs than they did, it makes me want to revisit past seasons and establish - was the standard in the NFL as good as I remember, or was it always pretty messy and our memory just blanks that out in favour of the good stuff?
Fortunately our memory of the 2025 Seahawks will always be "Yes, they really were that good, and we will enjoy rewatching this era over and over a decade down the line".
I never watched entire game replays, but the joy I watch them play with is contagious. Want a pick-me-up? Watch the Pats get their ass handed to them. Finally. I suggest they mic-up players and replace the opining with what is being said all game long.
