This is awesome news! Now if Abe Lucas can come back we should have a pretty strong line this year! Let’s go Hawks!!!!

Man this is exciting news and at $3m doesn’t break the bank. I’ve been pining for a true center since Max Unger left and think that giving K9 just a sliver more space and giving Geno just a little more time is worth gold. And a topflight center usually makes the entire line better due to communication

I’m very very happy

Did we have a true center but either or our OLine coaches couldn’t use him well in Pocic? He’s been highly ranked since taking over in Cleveland

He was pretty good for us his last season with the Hawks. I was sad we let him walk...

I could have also put a question mark at “ends training competition?” Because we don’t know what will happen for sure.

Just hope the physical is better than the Baker one.

Passing a physical and being 100% full speed as good as his previous best self are two different things. I hope he can play up to his potential or at least well enough to force us to shift our team paradigm and start paying offensive linemen. Now that we have been in OL purgatory for a few years, maybe JS has soured on the idea that we shouldn't be a team that doesn't pay OL. Or, maybe it was mainly a PC philosophy that he can now break free from.

That's my thinking too, Shay. Plus his contract seems to me to be one like Geno's: Just give me a shot and I'll show you. I have zero doubt that JS has spoken to what they can expect if it works out AND they trust he'll honor it. It would be cool if the whole team adopts salary demands that won't break the team elsewhere, knowing JS will do his damnedest to get them as much as the margins allow.

My gut told me Connor preferred coming here, a top reason being he expects we shall be serious contenders. Considering we bandied around $10 million, this looks like a bargain. It puts everybody on notice that they must reach an expected talent level...or else. Maybe Olu was just playing "good enough" to beat his sole competitor and these new coaches saw it. We heard Coach Mack speak on Murphy at first as he's "getting faster" to last week saying "he needs to speed up". Now Byron knows he best listen hard to what he's being told. Your Draft Status means nothing here.

Didn't Connor get a close look at the MacD defense last year, to the tune of a 40-to-damn-near-nothing loss?

This is a great move. He is young too.

YAHOO! As long as his health is at least OK this is a Great move for Seattle! As I keep preaching Center is a Hugely important position ( second or IMHO tied with LT). Made My Day!

Huge! (Or could be)

But, I am at a minimum happy that they are trying. This is progress.

And, if we are allowed to dream a little, a very good LT and a very good center goes a very long ways to a good line!

I think you are the top o line commenter here (and I am with you). Congrats to you us and the hawks. Let’s go

Indeed, congratulations to both of you. Since Seaside Jay has been with SJ for a number of years, she knows him well. He seems to be a warm-hearted guy, but very obsessed. She knows what she's in for.

(Brief aside: what fan cares what an agent says?) If Connor is the starter, we really need depth. I have to believe that the winner of the Olu-Harris competition represents excellent depth. I believe Olu can be amazing but if he needs to wait and get more seasoned, I’m good and hopefully he is too.

And SJ, as a married man myself, I wish you two great happiness. And… as H.L. Mencken famously wrote, “A man may be a fool and not know it but not if he’s married.”

Congrats to Seaside Joe and Jay!

Not sure what to read into the Williams signing, but options are good to have. If he’s a top notch centre, then that would be enormous for the offense.

With the Williams signing and a healthy Lucas, we are just an average RG away from a good OL. We still need some LBs but it's looking like we will be competitive this year. Great news. Now let's just hope the team stays healthy.

The best description I can come up with for the offense of line is maybe. Maybe Cross will live up to our expectations when he was drafted; maybe the new left guard will revert back to the form he had in San Francisco, rather than the disaster he was in New York; maybe the center will come back from what looked to be a career ending injury nine months ago; maybe the winner of the right guard battle will actually play well; and maybe Lucas will come back from injury. That’s a lot of maybes, but at least they’re maybes.
