I want to see the Seahawks offence get back to their origin. Outside zone, under centre QB, play action, timing passing plays. I want to see Darnold play free, and let the ball come out on time, and if it ain't there get to the check downs. I want more snaps for Charbs and fewer from K9, but I'd also like to see K9 do more with his snaps. We'll need both guys before the season is over.
Watching D-Hall rag doll Aaron Rodgers would make me giggle, so I hope it happens. I need a giggle.
Can someone explain how replacing Woolen with Nehemiah Pritchett or Shaquille Griffin makes Cooper Kupp, Jake Bobo, Tory Horton, and Dareke Young better receivers? Because that is the issue with this team.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not ready to be so fatalistic just yet. A lot of teams came out flat on Sunday. You can't judge a season based on week 1.
Hopefully, I’m overreacting. For some time, I’ve been concerned that the receiver group puts the offense at a severe disadvantage, especially given a new offensive coaching staff.
I don’t think the Seahawks are done with Woolen just yet. He might not get to play on the first series like last year, but I think he will be given an opportunity to show us he’s capable of playing without poor technique and bring more aggressive effort on every play. I think Kupp, Horton and Bobo will show up this weekend, and KK will do a better job with the scheme and play calling. Besides receivers not named JSN, the TEs will play a much more important roll in the passing game, and the RBs as well will get going in the run and the pass. If the JETS and J Fields can get 30 points on the Steelers, the Seahawks can get close to 40. Happy days are less than 24 hours away.
Yeah, I’m higher on our WRs than most. I expect a much better performance by the WRs not named JSN and a significantly better performance by the TEs as well.
I'm thinking the Guys had their faith in Kubiak shaken. Not good and I hope I'm wrong. That whole Milroe play felt desperate, like a guy needing to do something the Coach asked: "Surprise me". MM will be in no mood to run with another Poser for an entire season. I pray we see the sparks given off by a group of men who believe in what they are doing. Surprise us.
I think they still believe in Kubiaks’s system. I think they were not true to it last week. I think he has a stellar game plan this week. 38 points for us today, 200 yards on the ground and 250 in the air. Horton, Kupp and Arroyo show up with an assist from Barner and Bobo.
Dunno Danno. Half time. SF just scored on a 1 minute drive with a backup QB, 11 seconds left. Arghhh. I'm smelling a Coach Benton in our future, as I can't see MM going very far into the season like this. Kubiak looks scared and Sam is reflecting that. Maybe he's just a hard read. Pittsburg rookies now in their D trenches...
MM spoke a little about Woolen’s play in a couple of his press conferences this week. He hinted that the 45 yard gain down the sideline was a technique issue and the TD play in the end zone was losing to a player who made a better effort on the ball. I watched a lot of videos about the hawks play this week and I remember one former DB say Woolen was playing it perfectly, stride for stride with the receiver going down the sideline. He said the proper way to play that is have your left shoulder toward the receiver and feel the receiver with your left arm reaching out to feel the receiver. Basically stay in contact with the receiver so you can tell if he slows or speeds up. You can squeeze him to the sideline and this allows you to look back at the ball to make a play on it. It’s not a penalty to keep contact with your arm unless you grab or push the receiver. Woolen did not keep contact with the receiver and this allowed the receiver to get separation. Now this could be BS, but it makes sense to me given MM’s comments.
From the behind-the-QB view of the 45-yd completion, it looked like Woolen thought he had an INT and misjudged the ball. I’m pretty sure that the defender is supposed to ensure the PBU—which Woolen didn’t do—before attempting the INT. But you know what? Richard Sherman was guilty of this early in his career (see 16:13 below) and he turned out o.k.
I’m not out on Woolen as many are. I think there’s a chance he can still be very good. He just has to find a way to play solid technique 99.5% of the time and bring a slightly higher level of energy and effort. It seems far too often he is just so talented athletically, he feels 90% effort is enough to win, and this has resulted in big plays for the opposition. Imagine Woolen playing 100% all out from snap to whistle like Spoon? He’d be an all-pro. He just doesn’t feel like making that commitment. It is a contract year, so maybe he will change.
So I wonder how the Steelers hold up physically to playing the Seahawks. Back in the LOB days, teams often had a handful of injured players after playing the Hawks.
The 49ers will be without Purdy, Kittle and possibly Trent Williams this Sunday after playing the Hawks last week.
I never look forward to anyone getting injured. But playing Seattle a decade ago took a physical toll on opponents and I wonder if we’ll see the same thing this season.
I forget what the exact record was for our opponents the week after playing the Seahawks, but it was BAD in 2013 and 2014 especially. I miss Brandon Browner.
That was one of my grumpier posts, but I stand by wishing we would not use one day a week on everyone's predictions for the game. There are more interesting subjects.
I won't predict a score, but I will predict one thing. The Seahawks d-linemen will get their hands on multiple balls today. Ball is going to come out quick, so if we don't get quick pressure, get your big mitts up high. Would be great if one of them turns into a pick.
I saw somewhere that Seattle had the highest QB pressure rate in the NFL in W1. If we can repeat that, hopefully helps our secondary. Tyrice Knight against Aaron Rodgers though is a mismatch, so watch out for the RB's leaking out of the backfield.
Old Aaron won't be as spry in Week2, along with never being as evasive as Purdy. Expect quick over middle tosses. Hope Spoon can get in for the INT feasting.
Oh man, I have a baaaad feeling about this game, especially if Spoon isn't playing and Love having a groin issue - if he's not 100%, that could spell disaster. I think the Pitts D is going to come out feeling like they have something to prove after giving up so many yards to the Jets. I hope I am wrong and will gladly eat crow.
Next Man Up. Our Trench D will be disrupting any designs, thereby making it easier on anyone defending the pass or run. Each of these men need to remember they are College Allstars. Play like it. Mike has greenlit the DBs to go after INTs. Volleyball tactics may go a long way to finding the Effn Fun in Football again. Shag and shadow each other.
I am looking forward to the game Sunday. I think the Seahawks have a big advantage on the D-line vs their O-line especially with that lame duck QB. Could see a similar type of game to last year's Jets game without the Special Teams turnovers and actually being able to run the ball this year and score red zone TDs.
My prediction is that it will be close. Going to grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride.
I also really want to see what the Hawks offense looks like this week. This is a real split in the road for me. Was week 1 an aberration? Or will wee see the training wheels stay on SD and only throw the ball to JSN.
I am hoping for a different offense this week. And please, at least just once target Horton? Down the field deep.
It will be an interesting match-up, but it feels like the Seahawks have the right level of urgency going into it. Klint should use that, and let them get off the ball, run to their landmarks, and hammer people. And yes, get Horton the ball, especially if the Steelers are tilting the defence to JSN. Arroyo and Barner getting involved would also be good.
Outside zone run, swing pass to Charbs, play action to TE down the seam. Klint has to get his sequences sorted out. Make it hard for the defence to be right.
It's not a 'must win' game, but it's close. I wish all the best for DK, but not in this game.
Frisco did what Frisco does: came out hard and punched us in the nose, as taught by Bill Walsh. It's their Legacy to him. We will do well to mimic that.
I think it will be a pretty interesting game. It is going to be tough with love having a groin issue, Witherspoon out potentially or at least banged up.
I was not impressed with Shaquill Griffin he seems to have lost a couple steps since he was last in Seattle
Metcalf we all know can be a beast and he will have the incentive. So I guess the way to beat them is ground chuck. Lots of runs use the clock up and try to keep their offense off the field.
You write about DK getting personal foul penalties, “It may not even matter that Metcalf knows that’s what people expect him to do because when he was on the Seahawks he had no problem letting the Rams or 49ers get in his head when we all knew that’s what they were trying to do.” I still remember his post game comment when ask what he can do to avoid such a penalty in the future, he was adamant he was not going to change his behavior. So yeah DK, please don’t change who you are. You are now perfect IMHO.
Assignment if Spoon sits out. Stalk DK from the sideline and trash talk him every time he does something less than optimal. Challenge his manhood and his ego and insecurity will cause him to behave as we know he will and is fine doing so.
What pissed me off about that preview was them bringing up XL. Like Frank Drebin Jr. It wasnt 20 years ago to me!
I hope they turn Discount Double Sack into paste today.
I predict - 200 predictions
I predict - a riot
I predict - Peter piper will pick a peck of pickled peppers
I predict - England by 30 (RWC btw)
I predict - Sinners doesn't win an Oscar
I predict - Adam and Michelle win JLGTG All Stars victory
I predict - a white Christmas
I predict - Seahawks by 6+, Darnold crosses 250yds passing, 150 total rush yards, DK get 2 TDs and fumble and 15+ total penalty yards.
I want to see the Seahawks offence get back to their origin. Outside zone, under centre QB, play action, timing passing plays. Last week we went without 2 clutch players with EMan on D and Bobo on O. Thus, we had sad stats on 3rd downs. Glad we have Bobo back.
Yeah, I’m higher on our WRs than most. I expect a much better performance by the WRs not named JSN and a significantly better performance by the TEs as well.

Hear hear!
Well, Mike Mac has known all week he was going to be dealing with a depleted DB room. So maybe he has a trick or two...

Refs give the cornerbacks a lot of latitude covering DK in the opening minutes. Maybe it is simply a dark-humor guy thing. Embrace the Suck, Big Man.
