I do care about uniforms. Quite a bit. The whole reason I'm a Seahawks fan is because when they came into the league when I was 7, my favorite colors were blue and green and the logo just captured me. To this day, I watch games and think things like, "That Lions uniform is pretty sweet but the stripe on the sleeve is waaay too wide!"

The all action green uniforms sort of hurt my eyes, but we did win with them. If/When we lose with them we should burn them all and never do that again.

However, I consider uniforms barely a part of football. Not much higher on my list than our mascot or the hot dogs they serve. I wish they would consider whether the uniforms will cause epileptic fits, which all action green has been accused of.

I don't really care about the Rivalry jerseys because I'm not going to buy one, and I'm not superstitious.

I'll be damned. I liked it better when EVERYONE thought we sucked. Now it's only ALMOST EVERYONE. Ah well. The subterfuge won't last beyond game 1 anyway.

Seems like knowledgeable experts are not spreading through the NFL Network and that Kolmann, for now, is an outlier. Rich Eisen just came out with his list of 15 teams with a legit shot at the Super Bowl. The Seahawks were not one of them, but both the Rams and 49ers were, along with Pittsburgh with their geriatric QB.

Yeah, Rich Eisen runs a 40 in a suit. Doesn't appear t be the brightest light bulb in the chandelier.

Well recall that those in NYC don’t know that Seattle is in the US and they wonder if we have indoor plumbing (seriously heard that when I was back there).

Hell no, I always hated the 49ers, they always beat the Giants. I was a fan of the Giants until I moved to Seattle. When I got here I met a retired fishing boat worker in Ballard and befriended him. He was a die hard Seahawks fan, and I watched the games with him. I got here right after they were in the Super Bowls, so I was cheated out of that experience. But I can smell the next one cooking.

Awesome. Glad you on the anti-whiners front. Too bad you were not around for Kingdome days. And the Raidersbuster shirts and making fun of the crybaby Elway (it’s too loud in here to play) days. Dang the Kingdome could be loud.

Yeah, indoor stadiums are set up better for noise. But hopefully the crowd will get more involved as we threaten to be a contender again.

I grew up in NYC. (For my first 32 years) I Never had a doubt about the plumbing ;)

I was back there working when Loga had the hat trick INTs and the defense basically beat the Eagles without the need of the offense. Sal Palatonio and people in the bar etc were making comments like that. Sal was Eagles “lost” not the Hawks won. Not Lofa being just an awesome player. No Eagles lost. And the indoor plumbing comment was made by more than one person. Back in the 70s and mom was ordering from I think a Sears Catalog. The customer service rep actually asked about it. And also if we had seen an Indians recently.

In many ways Seattle is more futuristic and high tech than NYC. No ways I’d consider moving anywhere else right now.

Did you hear my eyes rolling out on the PNW coast? 49ers with all their issues, but not us.

Expand full comment
Danno's avatar

Well, we get to take care of this issue in week one and make it clear to everyone. I know it’s unlikely, but I think MM’s defense is going to have a big day, get to Purdy and make them look dysfunctional on offense. (I hope, anyway)

I don’t like it. Talking up our Seahawks in the media. It’s not good. I prefer to be the quiet achieving underdog that surprises the shit out of everyone.

Go (quietly) Hawks.

In psychology warfare black is suppose to be the most intimidating color. I think psychologists sold this premise to professional teams as you see more black uniforms than ever before.

May the 12s be with you and Go Seahawks!

I am not a fan of the logo. Like you stated, it looks faded, and imho is bland and uninteresting. With the hints given, I am expecting the jerseys to be grey (wolf?) with action green accents in a needle/fish market blended cityscape or skyline. I dont have high expectations, although I do hope to be pleasantly surprised

We marveled on how well a gal did in our weekly contest where you pick 6 Nascars and won according to how close they finished 1st through 6th. She always went with the prettiest paint schemes. I know red capes enrage bulls to murder. And I know A&W used a study showing browns and yellows stimulated appetites. What does algae pond scum green do? Hmmm. I bet there is a dark lab in a CIA basement that can answer that. WooWoo shit. Cause our opponent to remote-view their plans directly to Ernest Jones...

Gave me goosebumps -- especially the Haynes comment. I'm thinking the Grubb experiment was even worse than it appeared to us, that his offense was nothing like they wanted or even than they had drafted. Macdonald must've been REALLY pissed.

Especially bc I still maintain that literally one of the reasons Macdonald came to Seattle, was Kenneth Walker III. He's seen that guy in a situation that plays to his strengths, basically an unstoppable running back based on his personal experience with superior personnel at Michigan, getting gashed/destroyed by Kenneth Walker III. Bet he was salivating at the notion of having that kid, only to see him relegated to 3 yards and a cloud of dust, till he got hurt. I think Seattle was #31 in RB's being hit in the backfield or something like that, horrible run-blocking for a back like him.

Only thing I'm not agreeing with this writer is JSN's ability to win contested catches. Thought he was outstanding at that last year, seemed to come down with way more than his fair share. But now having Kupp to watch, that's llkely to improve even more this year.

Yeah I’m with you on the running game. It seemed like after every game MM said “we’re going to run the ball more next week,” yet after one weak run attempt, it was back to the air raid scheme.

I agree on JNS, he wins close coverage catches with late route adjustments and late hands.

JSN had a contested catch rate of 46.2% in 2024, which was tied for 30th in the NFL with Jameson Williams and Malik Nabers, among WRs with at least 85 targets.

PFF data? I guess I'd better start watching some All-22, had a completely different perspective. Maybe there are contested catches (guy is sorta near enough to wave at you) and CONTESTED catches (it's literally a jump ball or you're actually in worse position than the defender given where the QB threw it)?

Yes, from PFF. I don't know how they define "contested"

I'm hoping for the modern throwback for the permanent uniform. More sleek new hawk, old color scheme. People have mocked them up on Twitter/X and I think it's perfect. As for the Rivalries unis, I'm keeping an open mind, but highlighter green was never something I was a fan of except for our record in them..

I've been saying the Hawks need new uniforms for at least 4 seasons. They are currently playing in tattered and worn uniforms and having to mix and match pants and jerseys periodically to deal with the aged ones. They absolutely came out strong when the current uniforms were first introduced. Other teams have come out with new more powerful looking uniforms and they aren't the lower rated teams (I think).

This will be a rather small dose of new uniforms, but if there's enough excitement over the design then I'm sure the NFL plans to increase the usage.

As you stated. All about the Benjamin’s. They saw how classic uniforms led to more fan purchases so coming out with unique schemes. Started with military. Then pink for breast cancer. Flashy night game. Now rivalry. I do say though the 50th Anniversary awesome. And as you posted. Let TB wear classic home vs away white. Seahawks need to bring Chris Berman in. Bring a Nordstrom in to raise 12th Man Flag.

Do the teams need NFL approval to get new uniform designs?

I'm not sure how that all works, but I would assume that the NFL just has some "dos and donts" and the rest is up to the teams.
