With Pete firmly in charge now and both QBs showing strong performances, we will respect any call he makes as to which of them plays in any of our remaining games. It will no longer be an insult to Geno if he brings in Drew. Holding that decision until kickoff will give our opponents fits.
Point number three is my favorite point. Pete and all of us saw that both Artie Burns and M. Jackson played like above average starters. Maybe Artie Burns will keep the NCB job. Or maybe M. Jackson earned a right to start. We clearly have great depth at the DB positions.
How will the team deal with this wealth of talent? Will we trade someone or will we mix them up, or what?
By now, we all know we all know the Ravens took down the 49ers tonight so they made it a very merry Christmas for all of us. I'll wish it anyway...Merry Christmas to each and every member of this community and get ready for the Seahawks to bring us a very happy new year.
That win forces the 49ers to win out for the #1 seed and means that when they play the Rams game they have to use their starters to insure a win. If we win out and the Rams lose to the 49ers, we now become the 6th seed and might have a better first round opponent not named the 49ers. Interesting we have beat Philly and Detroit and nearly beat Dallas with two of those games on the road. I'm not sure about Tampa and how we match up. The Rams game might be trouble for the 49ers in LA. The played the Ravens better than SF did.
I think Geno was a little rusty at the beginning, not having played a couple of games, but he improved during the game. There were some, at least one, drop also. Still think Geno is better and Walker was a big reason for Lock's win against the Eagles, along with poor defensive decisions by Patricia at the end. That was a great pass by Lock at the end and a couple of others to Metcalf, who I agree has become more focused.
35 points should have won against Dallas, except for the refs. The refs were close to influencing the last game also, but we overcame. Lock has potential, but neither is the answer. The D has looked much better the last 2 games with the personnel changes. Offensive play calling has improved for the last 3.
I agree with Seaside Joe that at this point in time Geno and Drew are pretty much interchangeable. The difference being, of course, that Geno has been playing NFL football
Seemingly forever, and Drew less than a season and a half SJ , has forgotten more about football than I will ever know , thinks they’re there about even. Will Drew get that much needed experience here, Who knows?
I can now see us keeping them both, especially if there is no complaint if the other guy plays. The Team can field a healthy QB all season long, which can only appeal to a player who usually must overcome severe pain at some point, no doubt leading to why every Team expects their QB to have "off days". I expect Drew will test the FA waters, opting to stay if the deal isn't exceptional and includes a decent shot at a super bowl.
Ken you had an observation about Charbs in the post last week in the games where he started he didn’t have K9 to spell him and that the combo is better than either might be solo.
I think that is true AND it could apply to JSN and DK. DK may need JSN to be on the field and playing well in order to get the looks and routes to be successful.
Also a viable QB option in Lock might make Geno better although I am less certain about that (for Pete’s sake will we ever see a WHOLE GAME like the 4th quarter vs the Titans?).
And yes the record of Pete’s that is most impressive is 10-3 (soon to be 11-3) as in record of making the postseason. That has to be the best record in the NFL during that period by one coach(Belichek might be tied?).
DK had shown improvement in catching and foot placement earlier in the year and now is showing improvement in his focus and attitude. He’s still a relatively young man, learning his craft and is a solid core to build a receiver room around.
Neither the offense nor defense is playing great, but both are showing that grit that was missing earlier in the year. They are willing themselves to victory with their determination at the end of games. That’s a hugely valuable skill and is reminiscent of prime Russ with his, “why not us” mantra.
Both QBs have shown flashes of mediocrity and then greatness. I’m not convinced either is a QB to carry a team to victory, but either could lead a good team pretty far. The next few weeks will be interesting. I’m comfortable with either/both for another year while the Hawks, hopefully, groom an heir apparent.
Most of us thought the Hawks were solidly in rebuild mode after “The Trade” and that 24-26 were likely to be their real competitive years. The fact that they are rebuilding while staying playoff contenders is a real testament to PC/JS. I know PC makes some odd decisions during games, but I suspect that’s true of many coaches and that we see his foibles more because we watch the Hawks more.
What a gift to get an article on Christmas Day! Joe still delivers!
One request: can we not reference points allowed (or scored) in a game? That’s an archaic metric and misleading. Use points per possession or yards per play. Giving up 17 points on 8 possessions is not good meanwhile 20 points on 7 possessions is very good.
Defense: 2.12 Points per possession
offense: 2.85 PPP for the game and extremely good in the 2nd half (5.6 PPP)
League average is 1.88 PPP.
They also scored on 57% of their drives which is very good.
The offense plays like they have with Geno in 3 of the last 4 halves we have as good a shot as most to win the SB.
Geno also has been extremely clutch with the game on the line. Bodes well for playoffs.
Also, I love DK and with ya but he did not catch a catchable TD throw. Not saying he should’ve but I thought it was at least a 50/50 chance. Which potential catch was harder: Colby or DK not catch?
Merry Christmas to all. Before we get all exited about a win against a bad Titan team , let's remember that we are just
1 game over 500. We are still not SB contenders.
The reason we don't use our TEs more is because of out great OC Waldron!
My wish list for next year is a Center and R Guard that can block, a young mobile QB , a Cam Bam clone Safety , a new OC , an extensiion for Williams and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!
Merry Christmas, hope the good vibes continue throughout the season, and the team uses these last two wins as a springboard to greater success. I love this community and people who comment on here it's been a blast!
DK put together consecutive games being under control and focused. I am hoping he has seen the good results as a direct correlation to his recent recommitment to mental toughness over verbal sparring with opponents. Give me a couple more in-a-row and I'll start to believe he actually took a good look inside and saw that he was standing in the way of his own desire to be the best on the field he can be, so he mentally decided to use his energy on focused play rather than getting in pissing matches with opponent trash talkers. I even think he may have actually intentionally decided to wear the face mask as an outward symbol of his inward change. A baptism by cloth, if you will.
Or maybe it's just my overactive imagination and sense of drama that wants all that to be true. Either way, I hope he continues. I really want it to be a sign of him maturing... fof my team and himself.
DK is gonna DK. He is as close as you are going get to Megatron (NFL version) and we should glory in the fact that the team isn’t just him and Stafford!(congrats to the Lions fans, happy for ya). I will take the focussed Decepticon annihilator, or the pissy Autobot dickbrain. He’s the one player I could not bear to see on another team, ‘draft haul’ be damned.
They absolutely have to get the ball to DK. I am not that impressed this year with Walker. It does not run with a lot of power; he stutter steps a lot vs pounding the ball. I guess I am spoiled by Lynch
The QBs are average. They need to develop a cost containable one next year.
Love looks decent and Diggs seems to have received the message and played better.
God Lord Bradford had a rough game he was bullied.

Merry Christmas one and all! Don’t it just feel so good to still be in the running....
Merry Christmas Ken and all Seasiders!

I do think there is a maturation in DK now. Maybe it started when he started taking the sign language course. Merry Christmas b

All, stay Healthy 'n Happy this Christmas season.
Hawks 'n Y'all, Heal Up.

Everytime we think they're out, they keep getting pulled back in
Now we just need to settle all family business!
