I would love to see two guys in our front seven (not including BWagz) be at least in the conversation next year. Dre'mont Jones, Nwosu and Brooks may be the best bets, but my vision board has one of our young edge players force his name into the top 50 this season. I know it's just preseason optimism, but I feel like Hall has the best chance of exceeding expectations out of the edge group. I think he is going to be a better all-around player than Taylor, and Mafe might just be a solid backup.

I also believe JSN will be a mainstay on that list beginning in 2024. Get ready for the press conference where DK and NoE are like "Yeah Jaxon is the best player we've ever been around," and JSN says "ah man, those guys have taught me so much, but yeah, they're right about me being the best." Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.

If we disconsider positional value, Dickson is the only guy on the team I can say with confidence: “he’s the best on the league at his position”.

A healthy Adams can be the best safety in the league. Woolen and Witherspoon can eventually become the two best corners. Lucas eventually the best right tackle. To me, those are the guys with highest potential.

But a list with positional value is much different. You can have a team with Mahomes and scrubs and they will fight for the Super Bowl. QBs have an outsized value. Kirk Cousins is probably more impactful than Justin Jefferson, even though he would be much worse without the latter.

I feel like Priscoe has been biased against the Hawks for many years now. I still read him but probably shouldn’t🥵.

He is wrong so often.

Next year most likely is Geno, Metcalf, Woolen, and Diggs. Geno because the offense is primed to be top 5. And QBs get credit. Woolen because he is that good. Metcalf because he gets single coverage looks and limited cover 2. Diggs because free safety in this defense will get a chance to lead the league in interceptions. If Bobby, Cross and Walker or Lockett are also all on it then Seahawks are likely in the NFC championship game. If JSN, Witherspoon or on it as well - Super Bowl. If Adams is also there then the Seahawks should win it all because they are the best team in the league.

Check out the Cigar Thoughts podcast with Michael Bumpus evaluating the receiving corps. He’s very high on Metcalf--arguably he sees DK as Lockett’s equal. According to Bump, Metcalf has become a technically proficient receiver and has improved in that regard every season.

I’d be curious how the top 100 breaks down by position.

There 700ish (22x32) “starters” in the NFL so the top 100 could be considered the top 14% of all players, and I acknowledge not all positions are as valuable and I’d omit rookies since we haven’t seen them play.

I’d consider the Seahawks somewhere in the average distribution of ~3 players a team but with a number of players who could becomes top 100.

A healthy Adams is on the list but sadly this hasn’t been the case. Riq, Metcalf, Lockett and Wagner should be on there.

As you say, position matters. Like...how do you rate a WR against an OL or a TE v RB? We’d probably have more names if you look at individual positions and do, say, a top 5 at each.

Pete Prisco is my least favorite person in sports. Sure, I dislike Skip & Shannon and such "sports shock jocks" *more* but those guys are all in it for the gimmick. As a fan, it feels like he's deliberately dense when it comes to our team. The Sea Hawkers podcast have an Elmo voice singing for him that delights me every time.

In 2024, we can pencil in Jason Myers (k) as top 100. But not for 2023. As all good Seahawks fans know, Myers pretty much can’t miss in even years. The odd years...not so much.

Check out Myers’ game logs. He got off to a slow start and had a tough stretch (games 3-7) in 2021. Otherwise he’s been steady at worst and at best one of the best PKs in the league.
