No. Just no. Makes no sense to trade away draft capital. We're not in "win now" mode. Heck, I'd be fine with trading some of our veterans if they were worth anything. Anyone willing to send a first rounder for Geno? Might make sense for the Colts. I know Pete would never allow it. But I wish he would.
Let's agree to disagree. Taking control of a game against the Cardinals at home in the second half is a far cry from "on any given Sunday". The "at best" scenario for the Seahawks is a wildcard slot and early playoff exit. You may consider that a goal worthy of a "win now" perspective, but it does nothing for me. I'd like to make the playoffs with a sense that there's a real possibility of a deep run. If Seattle could be the kind of team that no one wants to face, that would be exciting. The Jets and Giants are an example of that sort of team. Philly has surpassed that status and is a legitimate contender. To my eye, not quite as good as the Bills and the Chiefs, who I see as standing in a class of their own, but not far behind.
It's not the second half of one game. Their body of work so far is 3-3, and they're gaining momentum, not capped on their potential. Seattle left that Atl playoff game in '12 believing they were going to the SB the next year. They did.
If they make the playoffs this year, maybe play tough and lose or knock off a team that doesn't belong, the young guys get experience and believe they can play at that level.
That's all win-win to me. Yes.
We play the Giants, Chiefs and Jets this year so we have a good indicator right off the bat because those games will determine whether this team plays or stays home from the playoffs.
I'm not trying to 'win' here on our conversation, just occurred to me so it's exciting we're even having this conversation.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and wish I shared it. I don't see this team as anything close to 2012 just yet but I could be there (sharing your outlook) next season if we draft as well as this year. For now, I'm content to watch the rookies develop and look forward to next year's draft (and, if I'm honest, enjoy watching Denver struggle because we have their pick). As of next year, I'll be rooting for a Russ rebound. Nothing against him personally. But he's richer than Croesus so I'm alright with him taking a few lumps in the cause of rebuilding the franchise he left behind.
Has Sidney Jones been a healthy scratch to save him for the trade deadline? Some teams who need a cornerbacks are TB, Detroit, Minnesota, Washington, and KC. Jackson from Washington will be on the market but he has a big contract and Washington would want draft capital in return. Jones might be the best affordable option for the teams in need of CB help.
Possible deals:
Tampa Bay - Jones+Barton for Anthony Nelson OLB
Detroit - Jones+Goodwin or Eskridge for Josh Pachal
Minnesota - Jones or Coleman for Luiji Vilain
Washington - Commander's choice of our defenisve linemen+Jones+Barton+3rd round pick for Daron Payne and William Jackson.
KC - William Jackson for 2nd round pick
Note: Barton and/or receiver included where injuries have created a need.
Shaq would be a great fit and the price is right. No one else makes any sense.
Right now I can't tell if the D was really better or they looked good against the worse offense in the league. Time on the Cards HC and offense is running out!
TRADE BAIT - Cash, Draft pick(s), and/or a Play-yer...right???
After looking at what WE have to trade away in order to receive a player who will fit better for us in return - and Not trade draft capital:
1) Drew Lock (who I would like to keep until at least when we know Geno's future)
2) LG Jackson (trade our ugly next year's contract for another team's ugly 2023 obligation)
3) Tight End? - we have three starter/near starters here...
4) Cody Barton - Blitzes well and plays well in space, but has been challenged with linemen at his feet. Someone might see him as an edge setting/pass rushing LB...wait, maybe WE can!
5) Mystery DB - We DO have a Lot of bodies in our DB room. It almost looks like August in there...
Can we do anything with any of these assets? Anyone? Ferris Bueller? Anyone?

Parallax, we went around about this before...Seattle IS in a win now mode.
I know they don't look SB worthy, but they're one of the 'on and given Sunday' teams that can surprise.
Philly was my sleeper pick and that's looking good right now.
But Seattle with Schneider's ability to deal and find two needed defenders could make Seattle scary.

Desmond King and Shaq Thompson would both improve our team, but not magically so. Day 3 compensation only.

Like these suggestions!!!
Need LB run stuffers, and DEs that can run protect.

I'll take Shaq Thompson if the price is right.

Lock is doing what Smith did.
Learn as a backup...be ready.
Much better then having a rookie there.
Jackson.
