Per Spotrac, Roy Robertson-Harris has 2 years left on his contract after this one, but no money guaranteed. This is definitely an audition for RRH.

Maybe the roster spot will be demoting Dee Williams. That would be improving by subtracting right there.

Will it be an improvement on the DL? With Murphy still out the Seahawks maybe just need another body for the rotation to avoid exhaustion for the rest of the line.

I'm not spending much time thinking about Dee Williams while there are so many holes on defense, but certainly I know the point you're making about having an extra roster spot for a defensive player.

A move, actually any move that JS/MM think is appropriate is a good sign for me. Taking action now tells me this team (management) plans to get better vs 'hopes' to get better. I like it.

Yeah, I was literally in the middle of writing stuff about the team maybe not being that focused on this season and then they do something that could only be for this season. It's just not easy to watch this defense so a better DT could help develop the players around the DL.

My perspective is the opposite. The issues at run D are at LB and SS, not DT. This move amounts to some combination of Schneider (a) flailing and (b) politicking in order to deflect responsibility from himself to MacDonald

I’m thinking this is partially an indictment about Murphy health. I do hope not but we don’t have enough of a quality rotation with only Hankins JReed and Williams. Wonder if the others so poor that I was seeing only a 2 man DLine front.

Bob Condotta tweeeted that the team still hopes Murphy will play in Week 7 and that this was not injury related. However, we'll see...

Been working and dealing with Thursdays smash and grab on my pickup while at the game Thursday so having seen any posts from Bob or others. I truly hope Murph back soon so thank you for that. That would be good news. Usually my first posts come from them. Seeing your post made me read this. Much appreciated.

Oh man! What a hassle (and expense). Hope it gets resolved easily for you.just getting a broken window repaired on a car can be a problem.

Thanks. Got window done today. The glass was everywhere. Thousands of pieces. Tear in some leather of door padding. Basically no assistance from insurance. Made getting fixed faster. Medical device stolen so call into doctor to hopefully expedite that. 20 plus years and first time this happened at the game. Lesson learned. Insult to the “eye injury” of watching Hawks lose and stands full of red.

Just read “scheduled salary-cap charges are $8.9 million for 2025 and $9.1 million for 2026,

Guarantees seem to be done by end of season and his cost to the Seahawks is ~$6.5M/year in '25 & '26 since the signing bonus is Jacksonville's cap hit.

Hadn’t done the cap hit review was just posting others comment, this the quotes. Makes it better and further supports my comment that he replaces JReed in 2025.

JS and MM have had a few days to review and assess, and sort out which issues are teaching and learning related, and which ones are roster issues. I think there are both. The Seahawks aren't playing mean and fast because they don't have enough confidence in what they are doing. You need clarity before you can play with aggression. For some of these guys, the 'nasty' will come with more comfort in the scheme. For some, they just won't be here.

Mike is giving feedback on the roster. There are guys that need to be coached up, and there are guys that just aren't the right guys. For 2024, not a lot can be done other than at the fringes of the roster. Hopefully JS is humble enough to listen to Mike's feedback on the players.

I was never a fan of the 'trade DK' banter. But I'm getting there. Most penalized WR since 2019, and the most fumbles by a WR since 2019. He's probably right up there with missing on catchable passes as well. Add to that the sideline antics last Thursday, and I'm struggling mightily with paying him $35M/year. I think that would be a mistake. He's got to be a leader, not just a player for that kind of money.
