The weakness of the pre-Shaheed group of WRs is that, JSN excepted, is that none of them can get open independent of scheme. From what I'm hearing, Shaheed addresses this because he is a solid route-runner with great speed.
Plus, let's face it: The Hawks aren't getting much out of Cooper Kupp. It's fine that he can block and it's all well-and-good that he's a great guy. Neither of which mitigate the fact that thirteen of his 24 receptions have come in two games and that safeties don't have to respect him as a deep threat. It's not hard to envision a scenario where Shaheed is the #2 WR and Kupp drops behind Horton to #4.
I think that if you are going to trade for a receiver, getting someone who just played in Kubiak's offense last year is about as good as you can get. I'm not bothered by it at all. If a couple back benchers lose some reps because we got another starter, sounds good to me. Only improves the team.
Joe: Can you do a statistical comparison of Rashid Shaheed and Jakobi Meyers? The trade value was about the same. Our guy is younger but shorter, other than that, I don't know much about either of them. Thanks
EDIT: Also, did any of the Edge Rushers get traded?
I wish he was bigger and stronger, and tough, but he is fast and can catch the ball(?). We have a team of great hands receivers, I hope that hasn't changed.
This will take reps from Horton and Young and White. Both Young and White run with power. It's kind of hard to tell Young (83) and White (82) apart from each other they have the same type of body and weight distribution, and they've both demonstrated improved skills in the last two years. In the last game, White shook off a would be tackler and then leisurely strolled into the end zone for a TD.
I like the way they are trying to make both sides of the ball aggressive ballers who invite physicality, and because we have plenty of receivers who are not getting as many reps as I would like to begin with.
I'm just not sure this was a good use of draft resources, but John is smarter than me, and so I will bow to his judgement.
One thing about this trade, it will take the pressure off our hurt receivers to come back too soon. They have more time to get healthy and get us through the playoffs.
Great pick up. On the compensation side, not a compensatory pick expert, but this might only cost the Hawks either the 4th or the 5th rounder if Shaheed leaves, right? If a half season rental, he should get decent money in free agency this offseason which should return a 4th or 5th depending on his contract compensation. This years draft class isn't anything to write home about either.
I have to think that MM/KK feel like Horton isn't ready to play a larger role yet and Kupp isn't giving them everything they wanted from a #2 WR. At that price, I'm assuming that plan A is to resign him at the end of the season. Perhaps this is a move that allows JSN to take more snaps from the slot and we see less Kupp on passing downs. The price seems steep for just adding depth to the roster, so I feel like this is a reflection of the staff not being entirely satisfied with our current starting WR options.
Maybe. They may also just like the player, and with Kupp injured, don't want to put too much pressure on Horton. Let him develop at his own speed. I assume he's an excellent locker room guy as well, as MacDonald won't let anyone near the building that isn't.
I am not a fan of this move ! Seahawks have two young receivers in Horton and White that both showed they can play in this league and thrive. Why bring in another receiver when were thin at O line backups and Linebacker . Just saying the cost seemed one 4th round pick to many.
I'm also surprised by the cost. If the Seahawks do end up re-signing Shaheed, it's possible he does make a lot more plays for them than a fourth and a fifth round pick would make. That's about all I can think of to make the cost make sense.
In JS I trust. I was convinced KK liked Darnold better than Geno for his system. I’m convinced KK likes Shaheed quite a bit for his system. Time will tell, but I know JS knows better than I do. And hopefully better than the others weighing in the compensation was too high. It’s a bit of a gamble, but we will know by next spring.l
Called this, called this for weeks!! I really like Shaheed (now i feel silly for cutting him from my fantasy team just a week ago) and like what different option he brings to our offense.
Not sure about a 4th & a 5th, that feels steep. However, there are multiple teams looking for WR help, so unlike the Colts we have a reason to overpay compared to raw value (what are the Colts doing? Danny Dimes is not going to win you a SB this year and you just sold out your window against a buyers market, dudes...). I'd also say there is already talk about his contract and arranging a new one, so JS/MM/KK (petition to him John Jchnider or Sohn Schneider for alliteration!) are willing to buy high knowing he'll be around for 3-4years.
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th. Not ideal, but unlike at some points in history we don't need many picks. Especially with a relatively strong recent record on UDFA's being usable. I think there may be something of an off-season trade to recoup some of that stock (saying now, don't be surprised to have a return to the trade-back times and we don't pick on day one at all). But i'm excited to have Shaheed, excited the staff believe in this team and themselves. Lets go fucking win a Superbowl or two or three!
I like Shaheed. He wears speed and stardom well. I just hope he doesn’t take targets and yards away from JSN. JSN could make some history this year.

DVOA chart shows Seahawks and Rams even/tied.
Yup, the top two teams...dead even.

I'm not worried at all about a proven starter taking reps from practice squad guys. It improves the team.
He catches about 64% of his targets. JSN is at 70%.
It's a little Percy Harvin-esque.
Without the migraines......and the headaches :)
Looks like Shaheed could play 18 games this year with no bye, same as Leo did during his trade year.

Good Share, Danno. There's Dawg in this player. Can't Touch This !
Indeed Bobby Brown ;)
Thanks for the reel, Danno. After giving it a watch, I think Shaheed is going to enjoy working with a more precise quarterback.
I think he has 499 yards this year already? I’m trusting someone else here. That would give him another 500 if he keeps up that pace.
499 on a bad team with a mediocre (at best) QB. What could he do with one of the best QB's in the league?
I’m hoping he’s a 1000 yard receiver for us!
To go with our 2000 yard receiver.
I like that instead of getting a patch, we go for an upgrade with Young out...

The Cowboys traded a first for Quinnen Williams
Jets also received a 2026 2nd round pick and Mazi Smith in addition to the 2027 1st.
And they had already add a LB. Serious retooling. They had extra firsts from the Parsons trade.
They're gonna have so many first round picks to waist on the the wrong QB next year!
Williams is a damn good player. This is a good trade for the Cowboys, IMO, but hate he is traded for by Jerruh...

The LAR's seem to do OK without 1st round picks. We can too.
Except LA has 2 1st round picks this year
Nice call!
