DJ did play his best preseason for us. He looked better running the ball than I have seen him. In the past, he seemed kinda flabby and would get tackled easily, even though he is a bigger back. The team always kept him against my best desires, so I just trusted PC and figured we couldn't find anyone better. He could always pass block and catch well, but he just didn't run with any authority or confidence. This preseason, he looked more powerful and purposeful. Knowing he can pass block, play special teams, and now is running better, I would be a little surprised if he didn't make it over Thompson, and maybe even McIntosh. I didn't even mention that having proven decent skills at this level, he is also just as cheap as the rookies. We'll see...

As for DeeJay, if he goes, he will join a list of good RBs nurtured in Seattle who do well elsewhere. Collins, McKissick... okay, maybe not that long a list.

I wouldn't trade Jackson unless we're absolutely certain Witherspoon's healthy. I want to like Witherspoon, but... don't feel I've seen anything yet to justify is #5 selection. Probably haven't been paying enough attention. But are we giving him the benefit of the doubt by calling him Spoon? How do we know he's not "Wither?"

We’re not seeing practice. That’s what makes it tough.

I haven’t seen Ken Walker and have absolutely no concerns about him. But I do wish we’d seen Witherspoon.

In defense of Jordan Love, his predecessor also sat for a few years and looked bad in his spot starts. But he is another type of bust: the ones which sit in Canton.

I think there is significant and very close competition among the defensive backs and running backs starting with who is going to start and going through to who is going to make the 53. Kenneth solved this problem by strategically using the IR to create roster spots to resign a full compliment of players. For instance starting 4 linebackers on the 53. Going without JSN for four games despite the very real likelihood that he is able to play in at least three of them, in favor of a third receiver who is an undrafted free agent wonder kid name Bobo (I cannot believe I just typed that). Complicating all of this is that Deejay is not going to clear waivers and Mike Jackson are unlikely to clear waivers and make it to the practice squad and the Seahawks are likely to be scouting the waiver wire themselves.

My thought is set injuries aside and ask this question who are the best 53. Are any of those 53 below the level of an NFL player, can the Seahawks trade or pick a player after waivers to replace on of the 53. Right now the Seahawks need's are linebacker and wide receiver and offensive tackle and nose tackle depth as they are one to two injuries from potentially disastrous roster hole, so if they can trade DeeJay or Mike Jackson to better balance their roster I think they will be traded. If not I think they will be on the team.

Things that make you want to go hmmmm. Jackson playing right corner in the last preseason game.

IIRC, Dallas put on some additional muscle over the off-season. Watching him run against the GB also-rans on Saturday, his choppy style reminded me of Mr. Beastmode. I had to rewind a couple of times to reassess. It was weird.

I don't think we are trading Jackson as he is cheap experienced depth for a position that players are often injured. A cheap insurance policy is always a good and smart option.

This is going to be an interesting week, for sure. Strip off all the hype and misdirection of team building. We’ll find out who we’re going to be.

My focus is starting to shift to beating the Rams game 1. Kind of like last year when we started the season against Denver and we were hardly given a chance, except, this year our lofty expectations changes the perceived outcome. How could the undermanned Rams playing on the road have a chance?

I have a feeling you're trying not to set the mold on what may be a trap game right at the start of the season, and I don't want to either, but there I said it didn't I? How could the Rams have a chance? Sean McVay. Seahawks drinking their own Kool-Aid or as it used to be put by my old coach, "Readin' their clippin's." No game in our division is safe. As Bruce Arians proved.

"But if Michael Jackson’s performance against the Packers, and the amount of snaps that he played in the preseason, is any indication, don’t we already know?"

This, exactly. No way they play both Jackson and Brown so much in a preseason game if they thought either of them was a definite starter. Depth is only good if it's playable depth. If Spoon had been healthy throughout the preseason, there is no way on God's green earth he would have been playing the 2nd half of a meaningless preseason game.

If they aren't already sold on Brown or Jackson (and how can they be?) then Spoon is it if he's healthy and ready to roll.

But, if Spoon is it, at outside over all the others, then why move Coby to safety? Who plays slot, Love? Burns, Brown and Jackson all played outside, like PC was looking to decide who is playing outside. If he has Spoon, pegged for outside already, then don't you think he would've been trying the other guys at slot much more?

Jackson is not *bad* and one thing he has going for him is he is a sure tackler. It is hilarious that the Seahawks could maybe get a 4th for him in a trade--the same compensation the Niners got for Lance lol.

But a trade does make sense for both the team, and Jackson.

Yeah, I don't think a fourth for Jackson. A seventh and a half, maybe. Actually, I want him to do well. He is a good tackler. He's up and down in coverage.

Makes sense to me. I’ve always been high on Browns potential, he started to show out right before he had the patellar injury, and I thought he played well in preseason. MJ definitely struggled preseason and he would have more trade value given his experience.

The conspiracy here, which I don’t buy, is that PC knew he was going to trade MJ which is why he was talking him up in OTAs! 😉

I’m surprised but not surprised if Dallas gets cut. He’s a great kid, special teams and teammate. But I think we know his ceiling. I’m sure it will be a tough call for PC. Hope DJ gets picked up by another team.

As to your last sentence, might I add, If he's cut. However, I think he may well be cut even though it appears to me that this is the best preseason he has had in Seattle.
