Keep away Camp?
What percentage of Seahawks fans will attend training camp and how many believe UFOs are aliens?
The Seattle Seahawks opened registration for 2025 training camp on Tuesday with the first date landing on July 23rd, just 36 days from now. And how many of you will be there?
According to last week’s fan survey, less than 5% — which might even be a good number.
I have no idea how many fans are “supposed to” attend a training camp, either in Seattle or relative to the other 31 teams. NFL fans are so spread out around the country and the world (from previous Seaside Joe surveys we know that most of you don’t live in Washington State) that getting 4.4% of a sample size of fans to watch you practice might be a fantastic number.
That’s why I run periodically run surveys and polls like these ones:
To get answers to questions that I couldn’t possibly know … and maybe nobody has the answer to some of these topics, including within the Seahawks organization.
Maybe not even the Seahawks know that they could still work on getting the other 95.6% of their fanbase to attend one training camp practice, that 0% of you are planning to attend every open date, and why isn’t anyone else except me asking the most important questions of all like, “What percentage of Seahawks fans think that UFOs are aliens?”
Answer:
8.8%.
Are you attending training camp?
If you answered “Yes” to training camp, what date(s) are you planning to attend? Is this your first training camp and if not, what advice do you have to fans who will be going to training camp for the first time?
But “we’re talking about practice?” Yes, so let’s move onto the game.
How many Seahawks fans will attend a game this season?
Of those who responded to the poll, 65.6% of you answered that you do not have plans to attend any Seahawks games in 2025. I’m sure that by the end of the year, some of the 65% will spontaneously decide to go or be surprised by the opportunity to go to a game, but two-thirds of you do not expect it.
But 1/4th of you answered that you usually go to at least one game:
That leaves 5.7% of you answering that you will go to 2-4 games and 4% of you who are season ticket holders and/or plan to attend all the home games. Nobody said that they will go to all the home games + some away games.
For those of you who do not go to Seahawks games very often — maybe you’ve only been to one or a few — when was the last time you saw a Seahawks game live and in person?
Do you have Super Bowl on shuffle?
Another Seahawks-viewing related question was on how often you watch Seattle’s Super Bowl win over the Broncos. Similar to the Trey Hendrickson question that I reviewed on Monday, this also had a fairly even split. Almost 25% each…
23.2% haven’t watched since it happened live
27.6% re-watched it a long time ago
27.2% watched it within the last 5 years
18.9% have watched it in the past year and 3.1% “regularly watch it”, so I’d say that means that 22% regularly watch it
It might be funny to run this question with the Super Bowl against the Patriots…but probably better to leave well enough alone.
And even if nobody asked, this is what the UFO pie chart looks like (because I allowed the option to write in an answer, that’s why that portion looks so crazy):
33% said “I don’t know!” what UFOs are
31.6% said they are unidentified man-made objects
8.8% said aliens
4% said interdimensional beings
2% said time travelers
Some of the write-in answers combined several options, a la interdimensional time travelers from outer space
At least three people wrote something along the lines of “undrafted” or “unidentified offensive linemen”. One person wrote that he or she saw UFOs in real life with their mom, so I’d like to hear more about what that experience was like. Maybe that’s the only Seasider who can confirm if UFOs are related to the offensive line or not.

Random commentary to follow:
I am trying to go to at least 1 of the training camp days, I bought tickets to 2 of them, just because I have never been and I might find it interesting. Or at least get to see the VMac up close and enjoy what should be a nice day outside. Maybe get my Emmanwori jersey signed. I grabbed Monday the 28th and Sunday the 10th, as those are my days off. I own my own retail business and I take Sundays and Mondays of so I can watch Seahawks football.
I do not go to live games, I prefer to watch on tv so I can yell and scream and not look nuts, while being able to hear the commentary and not have someone interrupt me. Plus, cheap food and no line for the bathroom.
I have a bunch of old games on my DVR, and I watch a different game every Sunday to pretend its still football season. I just watched both the Broncos and Patriots Superbowls. And as much as it hurts, I watch all the way to the end. I also watched to 2010 NO playoff game with Beastquake, which is always fun. And in between i watch all the games from last year.
As for UFOs, I cant be so obtuse as to think we are the only life forms in the universe, but I can't say for certain that they are more advanced than us, maybe they are just spores or something. So just because we aren't the only life force, it doesn't mean we aren't the most advanced. Or the other life forces are so advanced they're like Predator and keep themselves cloaked when they roam around the planet and our atmosphere.
FYI for SSJ, love the play on Sleepaway Camp for this issues title. Bravo.
Regarding most recent attendance to a Seahawks game: I really lucked out, as from the beginning of 2010 season through the 2015 season, I had six season tickets together in the lower, overhanging top level. I saw all of the great games, as I only missed a handful of home and playoff games during that six-year span. Man! But, a divorce happened, and that was it, unfortunately.
But oh, those glory years! Hooked me forever, I reckon 😊
