Seahawks trivia answers: Part I
The stories by the answers for last week's Seahawks trivia game
This weekend’s Seahawks trivia game had almost 500 fans give it a shot and as noted on Saturday, the stats show that these were all difficult questions. The Jim Mora and the Stone Cold questions were the only two in which the most popular answer was also the correct answer. No correct answer got more than 40% of the results.
The average score was 2.39/12
The media score was 2/12
Today I’ll go over half of the trivia questions and the stories behind their answers.
Most recently-drafted Seahawks without a team: Alton Robinson! (15% correct)
Robinson was only the third-most popular answer, with D.J. James getting almost 40% of the answers (James is signed with the Patriots) and John Ursua getting 20% (Ursua was drafted a year before Robinson).
Robinson has been out of the NFL since he was released by the Seahawks in July, 2023. Stone Forsythe is signed with the Giants.
2nd round pick released before career started: Owen Gill! (15%)
Malik McDowell took over 54% of the answers here, but McDowell wasn’t waived by the Seahawks until 2018, his second offseason with the team. Though McDowell never played for Seattle, he was on reserve for the Seahawks during his rookie season after the ATV accident.
Gill was the second-most popular answer, an indication that a few of you do remember what happened in the 1985 draft.
The Seahawks didn’t have a first round pick in ‘85, so Gill was Seattle’s first selection. Curt Warner was coming off of an injury, so the team was wary of their situation in the backfield and selected Gill in the second round. Head coach Chuck Knox must not have been very impressed with his preseason though and the team released Gill in the same week that the Seahawks also parted ways with quarterback Jim Zorn.
To add insult to his release, Seattle cut Gill to make room for a punter rental.
What did the Seahawks trade for Mike Holmgren: A 1999 2nd round pick! (27%)
Though “Nothing” got 40% of the answers here, which I would have thought too, my memory failed me on this: The Seahawks compensated Green Bay with a 1999 2nd round pick because Holmgren was still under contract when the Packers allowed him to leave for Seattle.
If you are still in doubt, the Seahawks list the trade on their own website.
The Packers used that pick, 47th overall, to select cornerback Fred Vinson. Ironically, Vinson was traded to the Seahawks in 2000, one of the worst deals in franchise history:
Vinson tore his ACL in a basketball game and never played another down in the NFL
The Seahawks sent Ahman Green and a fifth round pick to Green Bay for Vinson
Most All-Pro selections: LB Bobby Wagner! (27%)
Wagner has six career first-team All-Pro selections (2014, 2016-2020), compared to four for Walter Jones (2001, 2004, 2005, 2007). Steve Hutchinson had five, but three of those were with the Vikings.
Absolute legends like Steve Largent (1) and Cortez Kennedy (3) were not that close.
Jim L. Mora’s current job: UConn! (37%)
I wanted to add another head coach-based question, but the Seahawks haven’t had many head coaches in their history and Mora is the only one to have lasted one season, not including Seattle’s only interim head coach.
Do you know who the only interim was?
I had no idea what Mora was up to, but some of you clearly follow college football closely and know that he’s the head coach at UConn.
In fact, Mora helped UConn go 9-4 last season, their most wins since 2007.
UCLA’s current head coach — which I’m just finding out today — is former NFL running back DeShaun Foster.
Brian Bosworth’s co-star: Lance Henriksen! (30%)
I had recently watched a video about people that Hollywood tried to turn into movie stars but it didn’t work out for them and one of those examples was Bosworth in Stone Cold. In a different era, could Bosworth have been The Rock or John Cena?
Henriksen, who I best remember as Bishop in Aliens and Alien 3, told Bosworth the actor “You’re either gonna be my pork chop or my bulldozer,” a line that was left in the movie for the characters.
You can watch the full movie on YouTube for free.
I’ll post part II later this week!

I just got my renewal notice and I am more than happy to continue on with this great writer! Keep up the good work SSJ.
I will leave a brief comment before watching Stone Cold again. This was a HARD quiz!
