First you missed badly in your Seahawks legend list, Mack Strong. Second, need better picture because I’m still wearing my Mack jersey to games. Was actually my first ever jersey purchased. (In fairness they were not good looking but I do like the feel/fit more than the current jerseys. They are like the 80s/90s school jerseys).
I always referred to them as the “blue man group” uniforms, seems like we all agree they were awful! Yet I still see folks wearing them at the games and wonder why, if they can afford tickets, do they not just get a new jersey?
Bad uni's are bad karma. Don't mess with the football gods. Look like a million bucks, play like a million bucks. If it's possible, I'd like our next gen uni's to look meaner. Still something you'd want to wear, but maybe something that makes us look more like a thug. Look mean, play mean.
The current uniforms have been their best by far but they are looking worn out and need an upgrade. I want a stronger look that says “we’re here and we’re ready”!
Over here in Australia, the team I follow once had a competition for supporters to design a jersey. There were limits with colour etc. but it was still pretty open. And somehow they got permission from the League to be able to wear the winning design for a game.
Mayne the NFL should give that a go? I’m sure there’d be some pretty ugly designs that get submitted.
They were the worst. Recently, I went back to watch Beast Quake, which remains my favorite Seahawks play of all time, and the first thing that hit me was I remembered the play but had totally forgotten about the uniforms. Those were some ugly uniforms.
My 1st Seahawks jersey is a Marshawn lynch one from the 10/11 season and I love it, though I agree the newer colour schemes are much better looking; I hit "yes" on the poll but I was really answering for that 10/11 season uniform.
Having a retro game for fans only seems a better idea than forcing this very young team which loves the latest fashions of street clothing to wear anything boring.
IF we wear ugly uni's we better be tough AF and beating up on teams. Not trying to come out and look awkward and get rolled up. I like the retro classic uni's the best out of all of them, but I grew up liking the Hawks since the early 80's. I wish we would just wear the reboot version of the classics, we look bigger and faster for some reason. The neon uni's would drive me nuts to play against so maybe we do some studies on how the brighter color catches the eye and can distract the QB's eyes and cause confusion...or maybe the darker color allows us to go unseen and thus easier to ninja our way to a win, who knows...fun to recall the past though - ah, the good old days.
Not a fan of the wording of the survey question... using would you be "ok" implies that I would be "not ok" if I vote no. I mean, after all it is just a jersey color. I'll be ok. Am I in favor of using those god-awful jerseys for a night? No way! Use the good ones we have now. Burn the old ones. I bought a throwback Alexander jersey back then instead of the (then) current design because it was so bad.
If I recall correctly, it was the 1st year Nike started making (designing) NFL jerseys. I thought it was so bad, and I think it's only gotten worse since. It really showed that Nike had no clue what it was doing. They were almost Orwellian with their blocky lines and drab colors. Epic fail. The current version is way better.
Are Seahawks '02-'11 uniforms so ugly that they've become cool? - Nnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooo!!!
There's no shame in admitting sometimes you fucked up, and that era of uniform was just a fuck up. We look like faded 60's era Soviet concrete in those uniforms. Just plain ugly.
We have, i'd argue, the single best throwback in all of the NFL from last year. Instead of going "maybe it's so bad it's good" can we just use the fucking incredible throwbacks we already have more?!!
The Kraken, the Sounders, the Seahawks, the Mariners (and the Sonics) have all had some of the truly all-time great US sports kits. There's no shortage of actual fashion to support. Joe, I love you, but please please please write that piece on Geno being meh and saying we should move on instead of this :p
My wife recently bought me a vintage leather jacket from that era. For her, I wore it proudly to a game last year, but I did fear my fellow 12s turning on me.
Also, just seeing the jerseys brings back good memories. Pre-smart phone era. Tickets were no more than $60-$80 (scalped). The stadium was dominated by Seahawks fans. It was much more of a raucous crowd back then compared to a little more wine and cheese crowd plus tons of away fans.
Overall, bring em back! It would be hilarious if nothing else.
I'd like to see a blending of the 80's -90's and current colors and schemes moving forward-

We referred to these uniforms as 'rotten meat blue'.

Imagine if that moment had the 2012+ era unis, or the 80's ones. It may well then be the #1 sports gif of all time!
Also key to the nostaligia discussion, don't let great moments (and there were plenty from 02 to 11) trick you into thinking the uniforms were good.

So the “shades of blue” uniform of the aughts to me wasn’t so much ugly as completely BORING.
IMO, ugliest uniforms were the 2009 alternate uniforms.

During that time, they were my favorite uniforms. The way the color reflected light was unique. We should take pride in all phases of the team.
Saying the old jerseys were unattractive/ ugly doesn’t mean a person doesn’t have pride in their team.

I’m sold … so ugly they’re good.

Tony Romo dropped snap game should be on that list.
