Seahawks-Vikings: Final Score and What happened??
Fans of the Minnesota Vikings rallied around undrafted rookie quarterback Max Brosmer this week, especially after he gave the reason that he’s overcome the odds to make it to the NFL, which is that he prides himself on being “the most prepared player on the field”.
The Seahawks beat the Vikings 26-0 and intercepted Brosmer 4 times.
The loss isn’t really Brosmer’s fault. The loss falls on the shoulders of the people who setup Brosmer to fail by letting the Vikings get to this point without Sam Darnold as their quarterback anymore.
Darnold didn’t have his best day as the Seahawks quarterback but if he was still playing for Minnesota then the outcome of this game would have been much different. For both teams.
Darnold was under duress for most of the game and Mike Macdonald/Klint Kubiak called a conservative offensive plan that would “do no harm” to a defense that pitched a predictable shutout. This is the first time the Seahawks have held a team to 0 points since 2015:
Seattle ran the ball 13 times with Kenneth Walker (56 yards, 4.3 YPC) and 14 times with Zach Charbonnet (52 yards, 3.7 YPC, 1 TD), plus 5 other times. That’s 32 runs compared to 30 dropbacks. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was finally contained (23 yards) but not by the defense…JSN was held in check because the Seahawks didn’t really need him.
Smith-Njigba currently stands at 1,336 yards, the 11th-most ever through 12 games.

Defensive Players
Ernest Jones had 12 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 TD
Coby Bryant had 1 INT
Tariq Woolen had 1 INT
Bryon Murphy, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Leonard Williams each had 1 sack
Lawrence also had a FF
Ty Okada recovered the fumble
Drake Thomas had a TFL and 0.5 sack
It’s hard not to qualify this shutout with “Max Brosmer” but given that it’s been 10 years since the last one — with plenty of bad QBs in that mix — this game was still special for the Seahawks. Made all the more memorable by the fact that Lawrence has turned into one of the best free agent pickups of John Schneider’s career.
Lawrence only has a $7.7 million cap hit in 2025. He will still only cost $11.3 million in 2026 and $12.8 million in 2027.
He now had 5 sacks, 1 FF, 2 FR, 2 TD to go with elite run defense and valuable leadership. That last one is very off-brand for Seaside Joe to mention because we can’t really quantify or measure it…it’s just something you could really say about any player and we have no way to confirm it.
But coaches and players have been raving about Lawrence’s presence in practice and meetings since he arrived in Seattle and he’s putting the proof on the field. As the Seahawks continue to get virtually no production from their younger pass rushers, it's Lawrence imparting his will on opposing offensive lines, quarterbacks, and Aaron Jones.
NFC playoff standings
With the Rams losing to the Panthers on Sunday, the Seahawks move into a tie for first place in the NFC West. The Rams still hold the head-to-head tiebreaker and the Bears move into first place in the NFC:
The good news is that the Seahawks know what they have to do to win the division and potentially earn the number one seed in the NFC: Beat the Rams and do no worse than “same record” in their other 4 games.
The Seahawks play the Falcons, Colts, Panthers, and 49ers.
The Rams play the Cardinals, Lions, Falcons, and Cardinals.
The Seahawks and Rams face off in Seattle on December 18th, a Thursday.
But the 49ers are not out of this either. San Francisco improved to 9-4 with a win over the Browns and the Niners split their season series with L.A. already. If they beat the Seahawks in Week 18, then the Niners could win the NFC West and potentially still earn the number one seed; San Francisco is on a bye next week.
They finish the season with the Titans, Colts, Bears, and Seahawks.
Seattle could still be in first place next week if they beat the Falcons and the Rams lose to the Cardinals. Even so, being in first place next week could be moot if the Seahawks don’t beat the Rams in Week 16. Every little bit helps though and Week 13 was a huge boon to Seattle’s chances of a bye week and/or a playoff home game.
