Observations:

- JSN just phenomenal

- Darnold giving Geno vibes

- Myers what's up with you?

- Offense still beating the defense

- Rum game is nonexistent

- Play calling is at least pretty questionable

Still I want to stay as positive as I can and don't get me wrong but as a defending Super Bowl champ I can't withstand that much crying and hating. I get it, they didn't play good but that's just the nature of the sport. It's up and down and if you are a fan you should be able to live with a bad day without roasting everybody.

The Dark Side will bounce back. The O-line will gel. Hopefully enough to give JSN a complimentary running game. I am genuinely worried about Myers. Other than that, are we really that different than last year?? I thought coming in the Bears were a pretty damn good team and a bad matchup for us. This is all to say that I think the win stacking was always gonna start a little later this year. A tough early schedule and everybody circling their chance against the champs. Not great with both Rams games at the end giving them time to get their shit together too, but really, other than Myers looking like a steaming pile of greasy dog doo, I think we can still be a dangerous wild card. Certainly still good enough to navigate a deep playoff run, so consider me still on the wagon unlike some of you haters.

too many o-line changes in the last few days. The Bears have been entertaining to watch this season. I'm still not a Caleb fan or believer, but he got it done. At this point I think Fleury's...ineffective. Credit to Chicago, they came in on all cylinders and played a great game. We stung ourselves with very stupid penalties, and like Mike is sayin', we just got beat. Hopefully it gives the team something to strive for. Kinda feel like we were still high from the Chiefs game. Can't rest.

This is going to be a heated comment thread, and I'll keep it brief: what was this great offense vs KC? We had 13 points until 4 minutes were left in the game. That's great? No, it's not great.

There was no chance we were going to hire someone as good as Kubiak. They don't grow on trees. And our offense wasn't that great last year for large stretches.

Tonight the oLine was bad, and Zabel and Lucas were atrocious. They've both been pretty bad this year. The D was bad, uncharacteristically. The special teams have been bad all year. I feel bad for Demarcus, but at least he got his ring. We might be a playoff team, but barely.

I don't understand why you don't run with AB @ right guard for a couple of weeks. Are they trying to get Zabel the most reps in asap? I mean, let him learn the position till the bye week at least, then make the switch.

Agreed, last week we were 3rd and 9 all game long and managed to get out it repeatedly. Thats not repeatable long term, and Chicago’s defensive front overmatched our stitches together line.

Really arrogant and foolish to think you can shuffle the pieces on the OL, and switching spots for your left guard who has played badly all season but it will work out fine because he’s a 1st round pick who was pretty good as a rookie. And then run the ball repeatedly to his side, next to arguably the worst lineman this year, Lucas.

Can you imagine if JSN gets injured. Fleury would be fired for certain then. The genius of JSN is the one thing keeping him in a job.

And did JS make the wrong trade? Is he getting to be part of the problem?

We are in no shape to compete for a SB at this point and as SSJ pointed out the ST and Defense weren’t much better than the offense. Both lines seemed pretty well overmatched especially when Big Cat went down.

Ugg. I think Im done

Special teams could have been better. At least Dickson didn't mess up.

The Bears are going to win the NFC north.

DirectTV was tricky to cancel.

Seth L's avatar

I got screwed with the DTV "renewal"

It’s kind of relaxing to know that we can watch the Seahawks with really nothing on the line. Maybe they can take more chances, do something crazy like passing on first down.

Does anyone else here ever find themselves wondering if Fleury is still on the Niners payroll?

I hope.

On the Fleury note, I correctly predicted about 8 different run plays that the Seahawks called. I don’t remember any of them going anywhere productive.

If I can read through our offensive plan from my couch, so can opposing NFL DC’s. The sequencing is just too damn predictable too often

Mike Cutcliff's avatar

Sad to say that was exactly my thought during the game, far far too often.

Special teams was absolutely abysmal - on top of the lowlights that SSJ touched on, there was:

-a kickoff that Holani caught in play and went backwards into the end zone on that cost us 15 yards

-a blocked punt that no Seahawks player tried to recover that ended up rolling an extra 25 yards

-Holani only averaging 24 yards per kickoff return

Seth L's avatar

Holani looked so damn slow bringing the ball out. He did manage one nice return but that can't be our best option... or can it?

This was...not fun to watch. Just so many things with SEA that were off, bad, dumb, and then some dubious officiating on top of it. And CHI played pretty well. End result, even fun stuff like the sack and the fumble recovery generated only relief, not joy. I'd spend a lot less time on football if they played like this all the time.

Mike Cutcliff's avatar

This was the first time in two years I've seen us actually get beat by another team. Yes, we also did plenty to beat ourselves, but we also looked ill-matched against a better team. Fleury kept calling these ridiculous little pitches and attempts at runs on early downs, failing back-to-back with the same crappy play call which ended up putting us in third and long, when everybody in the house knows a pass has to come.

I could go on and on about this game and what went wrong. Anyone who's read my comments before knew that I felt that the jury was out on Fleury because there were just too many variables, but tonight he very clearly looked bad.

Stephen Pitell's avatar

Sam was inaccurate and nearly caused Horton to get killed. His passes were off, just enough to screw up the play. He threw two Int's. This one's on Sam, but the OL shares some of the shame.

Seaside Joe's avatar

The good news is that Seattle is saving a lot of money with Sam Darnold playing himself out of another contract.

Should have pivoted in the offseason to different receivers next to JSN besides the 2 they had/have.

Seth L's avatar

That 18m/yr contract is looking roughhhh.

Karl Schloer's avatar

Okay, but who replaces Sam if he's done here after this year?

Stephen Pitell's avatar

Lock is injured so there's no relief there right now.

I’m pissed at 3 personal fouls in the 2nd half. I like physical play, but that was stupid play. It’s not the first time this year for E-man. He’s looking a lot like DK and Woolen. Playing stupid. He should be benched for the 1st quarter next game. He needs to get his head right. We can’t play like that and win. Maybe 50 yards in penalties in the 4th quarter. I hope MM finds a way to get him to play smarter.
