I was thinking of which head coaches could be fired this year and it seemed to me that the list is very short. I’ll mention which coaches could be on the hot seat in each game recap where it is relevant.
This is a weekly bonus post for Regular Joes that doesn’t recap the games, like many other places, I only give information from each contest that somehow relates to the Seattle Seahawks.
Cardinals 42, Saints 34 (TNF)
After scoring nine points against the Seahawks, Arizona puts up 42 in the DeAndre Hopkins debut game. The Cards host Seattle on November 6. Is Arizona that much different with Hopkins or is the Saints defense, which wasn’t stout against the Seahawks either, just overrated? As is often the case, I expect the rematch to be aesthetically different than the first matchup, but Seattle has a chance to put the Cardinals away by beating them in Week 9.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks’ loss to the Saints is now a loss to a team that is 2-5. Even though Dennis Allen is only seven games into his second chance, his career record is so poor and his hiring announcement was so inauspicious that it feels as though he’s the next most-likely to be fired now that Matt Rhule’s been taken care of. Kliff Kingsbury may only be saved by the fact that he’s got a freshly signed contract extension.
