Who was the analyst that said Woolen "played above his ceiling" because that makes no sense?

Ok. I’m convinced. Hawks defence in NFL fantasy it is them.

If we could be at least average stopping the run, and if we could actually improve our pressure rate......oh boy. Fun to think about.

2 Things:

1) Kenneth, I love how you find so many of these small yet quality YT videos. Could you work in something like fortnightly/monthly newsletter dedicated to these clips? Basically just to build up a repository of links so we always have something to reference to. (Because they really are great, but so often I end up either forgetting about them or can't find them again)

2) Like the MVP has became a de-facto QB award, to me it feels like DPY (c'mon, we can't call it DPOY when it should be DPOTY, so DPY is just much cleaner) is becoming a de-facto rusher/wrecker award (yes Gilmore obviously stands out, but I also really can't see why he won in that year), as you have to go back to 2010 Troy Polamalu for the next DB to win. So whilst yes Woolen should well be a DPY candidate, he ain't gonna win it. Even at 10 INT's I don't think he'll win it. Just like even if Jefferson smashes through 2'000yrds he won't win MVP. Because these Awards are somewhat broken in my mind and none of them carry the value they held even a decade ago. (Hopefully now i've jinxed it so BWagz wins MVP, Dickson OPY, Olu ORY & Reed DRY in a sweep for the 'Hawks :p)

Anyway, time to watch the Womens World Cup.

In Chapter 11 of "The Art of Warfare" Master Sun said:

"The skillful tactician may be likened to the shuai-jan. Now the shuai-jan is a snake that is found in the Ch'ang Mountains. Strike at its head, and you will be attacked by the tail; strike at its tail, and you will be attacked by its head; strike at the middle, and you will be attacked by head and tail both." - Trans. by L. Giles (1910)

"Therefore, those who are expert at employing the military are like the 'sudden striker'. The 'sudden striker' is a snake indigenous to Mount Heng. If you strike its head, its tail come to its aid; if you strike its tail, its head comes to its aid; if you strike its middle, both head and tail come to its aid." - Trans. by R. Ames (1993)

"Those sophisticated at commanding battle arrays are like a shuairan. The shuairan was a serpent at Mount Heng: when its head was struck, the tail came; when its tail was struck, the head came; and when the middle was struck, both the head and tail came." - Trans. by J. Huang (1993)

"Good luck going deep." - Trans. by P. Carroll (2023)

The most important factor that is out of Riq's control is how good our pass rush is. This past Monday I watched KJs podcast with guest Golden Tate. One comment Golden made is applicable. When practicing, Golden says so many times in practice he would be running a route and with in 3 seconds the defense would be yelling sac! That type of pressure allowed the savy and well studied Richard Sherman to jump routes that weren't aimed at his man. Sherman knew the ball was not coming to him. He kept his eye in the backfield and understood what each receiver was trying to run. This allowed Sherm to freelance without taking chances. Riq must have a truley impressive FBI. There is no doubt 4.26 and 6ft 4 got him in the NFL. You do not become a day one starter unless you are able to take in the coaching and put it into practice. The most difficult thing for Witherspoon will be exactly this. Rarely will a first year cornerback enter the league more ready to make big time tackles than Witherspoon. If Spoon can play to 80% of his future ability and Riq picks up his tackling game the Hawks could have the best DB group in the league. I say this with having Coby Bryant being on the field for 75% of the snaps. If Riq had not been with Seattle Coby would be getting far more credit for his rookie campaign. Nickel slot is probably the most difficult assignment, couple that with it was Coby's first year to ever play the position. If the Hawks can have a top 12 pass rush I can see the DB group including safeties being the best in the league.

Riq is a freak in a good way. One of the developing areas year is likely to be tackling. Teams this year will look to throw short and run to his side to force him to tackle on the theory that he just has not done it enough to be good. Jets game was an example. Sherman went through the same thing and emerged as one of the better tackling corners. Pete probably looks at Riq’s lack of tackling experience as a good thing because he doesn’t have bad habits and can be taught to tackle correctly.
