It’s a very “that time of year” (negative sense) time of year, so Seaside Joe is asking for the help of Regular Joes subscribers ($5/month or $55/year) to get the ball moving on some questions and takes about the Seattle Seahawks.
This is not Monday’s official Seaside Joe because Seaside Joe doesn’t believe that asking for mailbag questions should count as an official article.
Please post any questions or thoughts you have about the Seahawks in the comments section below — hit “like” on any questions that you want to see addressed — and I’ll answer them in an upcoming newsletter.
If you’re a free subscriber, upgrade to paid because it’s only $5 and Seaside Joe has run an article about your favorite NFL team every day for over six years. Plus you’ll be able to join the comments community!
I have a question about the salaries of coaches. Is there a salary cap that limits the amount of money teams can pay the full of array of coaches? It seems there could be a competitive advantage to those teams that have a full complement of staff who can "coach up" players versus teams who are too cheap to pay not only a decent salary to the head coach but perhaps may operate at a disadvantage by paying poorly and carrying fewer assistant coaches. Has there been data of recent top teams compared to bottom of the barrel teams when it comes to spending on coaching? Thanks.
I’d like to know your thoughts on trading for Trey Hendrickson or Watt. I see quite a few fans thinking about how great it would be to get a guy like Hendrickson and how much closer we would be to winning a Super Bowl right now. I am personally opposed to it. Hendrickson is holding out for a new contract, and if we trade for him, he’s going to cost 35+ million a year probably for three years as a premiere edge rusher, and probably at least a first round draft choice to boot. I get that we’d be better right now, but taking a cap hit for 3 years of $35 million is going to mean some very good player(s) will be cap casualties. (Witherspoon, JSN, etc,) Plus the first round draft choice we’d lose could be an edge rusher who might be good and allow us to keep more high quality players for a sustained run at the ring for many years. We’ve done much better recently using the draft to get good talent. I know we haven’t hit many elite players so far. But that will happen if we stay the course and don’t give away first or early round picks.
