If the Hawks pick at 32 or early 2nd round there a 50+ chance it’s a DB, 30% lineman (O or D) and 20 Edge. I want Edge, but there are few starter in the draft.

I was wrong about Barner the same way I was wrong about KJ Wright. I thought they look OK, they do some things well but they are really big and show good movement skills for players that are taller and thicker. But I was not sold on either of them until I saw them play in nfl games and I was instantly like oh wow these guys are actually kinda good or better even...it's hard to predict what players will turn into without having a lot of insight. Just watch old drafts, it's hilarious. No one is drafting for BPA, it's all needs based thinking by teams and analysts. Crazy - the decisions in retrospect are crazy. Great article. Love me some Barner.

The age thing is crazy...so many older players coming out now. I can't figure out this draft. I have no idea what Seahawks are gonna do. I'm glad I'm not in charge although I wish I could be apart of the team so bad...would love to hear those conversations and see the strategy that is used to get to player choices.

Hard Knocks will get us a little closer, just not for the draft.

We have not had this good of a fit at TE since miller. It’s like having another lineman when he blocks and soft hands as a receiver

Watching replays of the Seahawks games this year, it was incredible seeing Barner and Saubert working together. There would be an initial double team on an edge, to get him under control, then one of them would peel off to get upfield while the other would contain the edge just long enough for the RB to break through to the second level where the TE who broke off was giving an LB hell trying to get to the RB. Kellerman is another blocking TE with potential. It’s hard to find a position on the team more set for this coming season than TE.

And we have Arroyo -- has gone largely unnoticed but if he blossoms, look out!

He also provides a style of play different from Barner, Saubert and Kellerman. Too fast for LBs to cover. Can Fleury create those mismatches?

We now see how important Bobo is in these schemes. Scrappy blocker and a clutch receiver, with Cupp wjhispering in his ear. Put 30 pounds on him and he'd be a TE.

He does create separation despite running a 4.9 forty.

I've been waiting for our OC to focus on Tight Ends. Watching Brady wait to accept a job in Tampa Bay until Gronk (TE) came out of retirement tells us how important the TE is to our best Field Generals. "Give me Gronk and I'll give you a trophy"- and he did it. It's the kind of thing MM would want to see develop. And it has. That and the Running Game. Fluery will be measured by this. Let's note his specialty was TE work. Short of total idiocy, the Running Game will take care of itself.

Lately I’ve been thinking instead of taking a RB in rounds 1, 2 or 3, taking an IOL if there’s someone who seen as a better fit than Bradford. People see RB as a bigger need, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Fleury had a say in Emanuel Wilson’s free agent signing. Maybe JS is happy with what they have with Holani, Wilson and Kenny Mac and company until Charbs gets back? I’ve even floated the idea that the Seahawks are not as needy at CB as we think. Did Mm chime in with the signing of Noah Igbinoghene, a former 1st round pick? He only needs to be CB3 as Spoon and Jobe have CB1 and 2 locked in. Maybe edge, IOL and safety or the three picks in the first three rounds.

If JS see's premier BPA or near-BPA OLinemen available to us at any position, he'll snap them up if his Scouts report solid on Character. The budget cycling requires we have Rookies under reduced salary caps. Zabel's first year start has done wonders to spreading the wealth around, maintaining Unit Cohesion.

Murphy and Barner are key pieces the Hawks need to sign next year. We’ve talked about the probable positive impact of TE coach Fleury on Barner for weeks. And then there’s Darnold. The most important position competition this preseason is QB2. If Milroe clearly beats out Lock, and shows improvement in accuracy, decision making and reading the defenses, just where is JS going to draw the line on Darnold’s salary next offseason? I know his market value will be near $60 million if he wins another Super Bowl. Maybe two or three number one picks along with Milroe, Murphy, and cap room for Zabel and Emmanwori (Mills Arroyo) the following year is the way to go and extend the Super Bowl window. This is why I think an exception to the rule makes sense. Darnold will be better this year. He could probably be had for less than $50 million a year right now. Rules were made to be broken and there are exceptions to every rule.

Sam will do well to learn to subdue his passions when dwelling on how much MORE he could make elsewhere. I suspect the Schneider philosophy revolves around establishing this mindset. My hope is to hear stories of the OLine expanding their sense of togetherness to include the rest of The Guys getting invitations to a weekly beer or BBQ. Taking 10% of the budget works for 10 guys with nothing left for the other 12 Starters, not to mention the crucial Support Group. The math doesn't lie. Nobody gets left behind.

Brady certainly took significantly less than he could have. It’s possible Sam will do so as well. It’s going to be hard if he wins another ring. How many QBs in history have won two in a row? He could easily go right to the top of the QB market. We saw what happened to Russ when he wanted another break the bank contract. Traded. Geno - traded. Darnold goes over the line…. Traded?

Depends on how Lock and Milroe perform in preseason. We know Lock can command the field. How may years does it take to bring a promising college QB up to speed? Milroe has the Wow Factor in his genetics. If he gets calmed down and patient, watch out.

Yes, that’s why QB2 is the most interesting position battle this year.
