Why I maintain an amount of skepticism over Horton - It's such a small sample size. Many many players can flash talent in 4 to 6 game bursts, but what makes you an NFL calibre player is ability over a full season.
But can't the same be said of Shaheed, your favourite Hawks WR? Well yes. But I said an amount of skepticism. Horton excites me, as does Shaheed. If the pair can combine in 2026 to equate to one players worth of season we'll be happy. If they both reach those potentials, I don't know how any team stops us winning the Super Bowl.
It's the off-season so let's dream of that scenario with a 1500yd JSN, a 10+ TD Horton, and a 900yd gadget deep threat Shaheed. Combining to get Darnold over 4,000yds, add in Barners clutch grabs. Price/Holani/Charbie/Shaheed combine for 1,300-1,500 rush yards. An explosion of offence the league hasn't seen in many years. Let alone add in MMs defence, points differential over 600?! 700??!!
Man that’s ALOT of underneath and even behind the line catches. But the deep comeback sideline catch was awesome and so was the slant for the TD. And every catch he was gaining YAC. Pretty cool
I have few doubts in Horton from a talent perspective. If he can stay on the field, he'll be a big contributor. And he's got the best WR coach in football in Cooper Kupp in the huddle with him. So, stay healthy Tory. Put him a Shaheed on one side, and JSN on the other, and dare the defence to roll coverage to one side or the other.
I never considered Horton a 5th round pick. If he wasn’t injured his last season at Colorado State, he would have been a day 2 draft pick, and if his productivity in that last season was as good as his 1st two, he would have been a 2nd round pick. He will be neck and neck with Shaheed this season for WR2 if he can stay healthy. When I saw Horton at the VMAC in a pre-season practice last year, I was immediately convinced MVS was toast. There was no comparison between the two, AND Horton was a special teamer, MVS was not.
It’s clear to me JS does not take an injury risk in round 1 or 2, but on day three he does seem to look for those injured players who slipped from day two to day three. Mills was another player who slipped due to injury. Can Horton stay healthy? And when will he be healthy? He’s still not ready to go.
If you want to watch one game of Horton’s in college, watch the game against Colorado U. It’s Deion Sanders coaching and they had really good CBs. One was a top 10 pick. It wasn’t quite JSN in the Rose Bowl, but it was awesome!

I found the Tory Horton vs Colorado U and Travis Hunter video. This is one game! It could be a season highlight reel for some players.
