Sorry, but there's only one proven formula, year-in and year-out, that consistently wins football games; play great defense and RUN THE BALL! If Jadarian Price is effective, the Seahawks will win more games than if they have to lean on Wilson and Holani. If Price has an OROY kind of season, look out! JP gets my vote.

I went with Jadarian Price as being most critical to the Seahawks' success because I don't think our second-best RB is very good. The Seahawks are in trouble if Price isn't healthy or isn't as good as we expect him to be; thus, he's more important than someone who can be more easily replaced.

To me, it simply comes down to WHO is most likely to bring about a win...

(SHOULDA BEEN) Superbowl MVP Meyers!

Which leads to a craw under my skin since the game...and it's something that I have no control over, but which SEASIDE JOE MIGHT be able to affect...not having the kicker on the MVP balloting at the end of the game!

Had Meyers name been one of the boxes that voting sportscasters could have checked, I believe that Meyers would have been Superbowl MVP.

Spoon's contract situation must be affecting the vote here. This one shouldn't even be close!

He's not a perfect cover corner, but he's an extremely unique player that MM loves. Myers is a very reliable kicker and I'm glad he's a Seahawk, but he's not irreplaceable in the same way Spoon is. There's a good reason why CBs make a lot more money than kickers. Positional value alone should be enough to sway the vote in Spoon's direction. But this isn't just CB vs kicker. Spoon can play any DB position, tackles like a LB, can pass rush, and is a better trash talker than 99% of the league. He's irreplaceable and the Seahawks without him are much more vulnerable and predictable in the secondary. No offense to Myers; he's great, but what're we even talking about here?

For the record, I would vote for Spoon over at least half of the players currently in the Fateful Eight!

Today, there was a single bracket and my choice to move on within this bracket was Jason Meyers. To me, it came down to Meyers, Price and Witherspoon. Price hasn't played a single snap for Seattle and I would love for him to end the season being most critical to their success. However, that's different than crowning him most critical to success before he's even played one snap for the Hawks. Then it was down to Meyers and Witherspoon. Witherspoon's biggest contribution thus far has not been in coverage. In fact, I don't think he's all that great in coverage. Maybe average or slightly above average at best. His skillset is his Swiss army knife attributes and hard nosed willingness to mix it up and be a willing tackler. I'm not saying he's not extremely valuable. I'm saying I think we could compensate quite adequately for the loss of that value. Devon is not necessarily carrying this defense. Meyers, on the other hand, has been fantastic the last year or two and has indeed carried this offense in certain games this past year. In fact, there were moments late in the game during the Superbowl where I, and probably many of us, where legitimately pondering the possibility that a kicker could win Superbowl MVP.

It was still a tough decision because I think it might be easier and more likely to replace Meyers skillet than Witherspoon's specific skillset, but not from within the current roster. I also don't think Witherspoon's exact skillet could be replaced from within or from without the roster but I do think a more than sufficient replacement could be found positionally from within the current roster without a significant drop-off in overall defensive output.

I truly hope we don't have to find out if I'm right about that.

Of course, it's entirely possible I chose Meyers over Witherspoon because I'm not entirely convinced Spoon will finish the season as a Seahawks and I'm merely hoping I'm right about our ability to fill his position without significant drop-off in anticipation of such an event. I would love nothing more than being proven ridiculously wrong!

It's a plain fact no one person is responsible for immediate outcomes in the win/loss column than a Team's Kicker. Not just ours. Myers could have put us in the Playoffs 2 tears ago had he made his 61 yard kick at the end of the Ram's contest. It's a special man who can carry the water of that responsibility.

I think you're making the case to vote for Myers, but the points you make kind of work against him. Kickers score a lot of team points, "not just ours." He couldn't make the 61 yard kick to win the big game. There are kickers in the league who could have done that, but Myers had near zero chance. I'm glad Myers is our guy, but I do think he's far more replaceable than other Seasiders, apparently. The fact that he's even close to Spoon in this vote, and ahead of Price, is crazy to me.

I'll take the kicker who is deadly accurate but doesn't have superhuman distance. And I love JM's kickoffs with perfect distance and gobs of hang time.
