Our D moved from 32 to 11 in MM’s first year … Adding Hendrickson along with our stud 2nd round multi-tool player, All the rest we have coming back… with an offense that can run.. Playoffs!!!

My reaction to the movie list is, "what? No Mel Brooks movie?!?" Give me Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles or Spaceballs, please. Also, a great rom-com is When Harry Met Sally. I am a big movie fan who likes many different genres.

For those that can tolerate intense movie experiences and love clever entertaining dialogue, I love Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction, and Django Unchained.

I have seen most of those on the list and the ones I saw I really liked. Very good list. One of my all-time faves that has everything is The Princess Bride.

On the survey, I recommended a mini-series on Netflix called "The Residence". It's a witty whodunnit with snappy dialogue and a good ensemble cast. It is 8 episodes at about 40mins each.

Good Will Hunting is a fabulous movie ala Dead Poet's Society, both had brilliant performances by Robin Williams. I LOVED Almost Famous as I am a big music guy.

Thanks for the Tropic Thunder reference. I will follow it up with another concerning trading for Hendrickson. For those that think spending that kind of money on a guy that makes our top 5 defense a top 2 defense, I ask, does it make that big a difference versus using that towards keeping the guys we have next year and benefitting from their potential growth? If you still think so, I say "never go full (offensive term here)". The juice isn't worth the squeeze. Great player, but the cost could be a Jamal Adams type of disaster. If he gets hurt, we lose a ton of flexibility and we are still where we are now. If he's healthy and reeks havoc on opposing offenses, great. But its still a ton of money to make the D move up a few notches when we can keep that cash and use it mid-season on offense if needed. Plus we would have to trade one of the other edge players as SSJ pointed out, and losing a player in the early stages of potential greatness would be a shame.

Note - I don't really think any one is (R) if they want the trade, I just wanted a way to use the quote off of what SSJ started.

Note 2 - I am not sure what cinephile recommended Sleepaway Camp, buts its the best low budget 80s slasher EVER. And by I'm not sure, it's me. I recommended it. My favorite Holy Shit ending of any movie ever. Kaiser Soze? Lame. Less than Zero? Snooze. Sleepaway Camp wins for effects and plot twist.

Maybe the question re. books, movies, tv series - should have been split. I think I listed a book on the survey and movies in the comments, none of which made the list here. Anyway, just a thought. Interesting and great list though. It’s amazing how different people’s tastes are.

Slow Horses is a tv show, not a movie. Gary Oldman plays a bizarro version of his character in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which *is* a movie.

I highly recommend both.

I'm seeing Coach going with the Guys he's got this year. Things he's said, impressions he's made, need to be lived up to to now. That sense of Confidence will infuse itself throughout everything we attempt this season. High on those expectations will be pay increases and bonuses promised. Let's remember our O-Line hasn't been especially well remunerated under Carroll and the outcomes reflect this. By keeping his Defense together this year sends a huge message to our developing Offense. Every one of these Men are super-athletic All Stars just for being in the NFL. On any given day, any Team can go out and deliver a whole can of WhoopAss on any other Team. Anyone not up for that will find a new home elsewhere next year. But being replaced won't come from Coaches or Management not living up to what they promised. Hang on to that $31 Million, John. The guys are watching. Closely.

Is Salk getting more obnoxious on purpose? Even after Brady Henderson provides a thoughtful and well-reasoned description of why a third round pick would be the most he'd see JS paying for Hendrickson, Salk argues with him. He says, well I'd give up a second rounder and so would you, because if you'll trade a third then you'll trade a second. Henderson pokes fun at him, and rightly so, for his nonsensical reasoning. This motivates Salk to basically talk over his guest and force him into either agreeing with him or turning the conversation even more awkward. Henderson is gracious enough to oblige, but the whole exchange was just confrontational for no good reason. Why not just say, "oh, you think Schneider might do that; interesting, and good points. Thanks for you insight and for being a guest on my show."

A Complete Unknown.

Hendrickson is too pricey for a sub package DE.

As I've mentioned before, a lot of very good players are available after roster cuts for various and sundry reasons. We willl have a much better handle on what we need during training camp and pre season games! No rush !

Hard no on TH for me. We may want to patch o line still, and corner too, before we go upgrading our edges. Plus TH not super great against the run...so is he worth it? For me it's a pass. I think TH makes our pass rush top 5 but not necessarily a top run defense.

“Patch” OLine? Unless they completely whiffed in the last 3 drafts, they have what players they need.

I think you're right, but new coaches and new scheme...maybe needs new players? We'll see.

Agreed new scheme but a guy like Haynes played in this scheme. He was out of place with last OC. And JS mentioned Bradford got a lot of his penalties because he was wanting to play a smash mouth style when Grubb more finesse. Thus my post. We’ve got a former Remington award winning Center and some strong guards. But we’ve got money so JS could pull a trade.

I like our d line room a lot, as we have a really good mix of high performance vets and high potential youngsters. There are other places id invest in first and there's certainly an opportunity cost involved if you did bring him in and kept your young guys. Pass.

Amazing how In The Heat Of The Night holds up, thanks mostly to the near unbelievable chemistry between Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger. The two met for the first time on the Heat set and became lifelong friends. Poitier was the top box office star of 1967 (Heat, Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, and To Sir, With Love). He accurately predicted that his movie persona had peaked and that he would never be as big again. For a fascinating account of the back story of Heat, see Pictures At A Revolution: Five Movies And The Birth Of The New Hollywood (Harris).

Yeah! Oh, yeah!
