Another great aspect of this year's game schedule is many of our guys will be first-time introduced to a super reinvigorated 12 crowd this weekend, back bigger, more thrilled and noisier than we've had for 5(?) years. Our Rooks/Coaches haven't experiened the shear power of that yet. And to top it all, their next exposure is the Bronco's opening game two weeks later after essentially a bye week. Let's trust they will respond incredibly well against Cleveland this weekend, leaving us all knowing we are indeed a 12th man on the field. It's the sole driver for all that JS keys on. Let's be more than loud and stupid, at least through 3 quarters when beers spend no time half full...
I'd hate to see Michael Jackson go, but his name gets bandied about specifically to the Vikes. The guy has steadily elevated his Game while playing under Hurtt's lousy defense until we watched him steady the field last year with very solid plays knitting for Woolen. Hit hard and didn't go out hurtt while doing a good job denying passes and TDs. Made his tackles. A Viking LB was mentioned, but I just don't recall his name.
Unfortunately, the changes made to the comments section make verifying FG comments from 2010 rather difficult, but fwiw I have a similar memory of the response to PC.
Hopefully someone can help me out with the answer to this question.
For the upcoming preseason game versus the browns, do we know if any starters will be playing on offense or defense? I can't seem to find any information anywhere on who the lineup will be
I miss the "pop quiz hotshot"....I like to try to rack my brains over those. Once in a while I might actually remember the answers,, Insert member berries meme here..,you know what songs great? Ides of March - Vehicle...so cool.
The depth chart will be interesting after final cuts. Lots of questions rolling around in my head regarding who they might keep, and who they'll try to get onto the practice squad. A few thoughts;
- Just based on reps in preseason and practices, I think Knight and Rattigan are the 2 iLB's after Dodson and Baker. O'Connell and Thomas both might have to clear waivers to get to remain Seahawks.
- Haynes and Bradford played well at LG and RG respectively in the Titans game. No pressures allowed for either, and decent run blocking. Haynes can really move. I don't think they'll put him in front of Laken, but if he struggles.....
- I absolutely love our WR room. A lot of big dudes who have different body types and skill sets. Grubb has weapons, and he should use them all. If we are able to run the ball outside effectively this year, our blocking WR's will play a big part of that. Metcalf, Bobo, and Young are very large lads, and Shenault is no shrinking violet. DB's beware.
- I don't think Mike Mac has announced plans for the Cleveland game yet, but I'm guessing the starters will play a couple of series. Cleveland is going to play their starters (confirmed) and Geno & Co. should get some rhythm established before the season opener. We'll see. Tough call for Coach.
I think you are correct about Knight and Rattigan making the roster. I wonder if Dodson and Baker had no health concerns if we'd only keep them and Knight, however. We just have so little information about Dodson and Baker to base an opinion on. And what percentage of plays are we likely to have two ILBs on the field for? If Macdonald would just share all of his thoughts and plans with us, we fans could better share our opinions with him!
Just saw the trade. He's a known commodity for Mike Mac, but curious that we never drafted him if he thinks highly enough to trade for him. Jackson wasn't going to make the team, so I guess, what the heck.
Who knows. Barrett was probably a guy they liked in the draft and they just liked their 6th round picks a little better. Maybe he would have been a high priority free agent if he didn't get picked in the 7th round. The Panthers GM used to work for JS, and Barrett used to play for MM and JayH, so they've got some connections there. As you said, we were going to lose Jackson one way or another anyway, and now we've got a guy under team control on a cheap contract to develop for a few years. Seems like a win, win, win, win for both GMs and both players.
I personally hate the only three preseason games. Not only do the fans not really be able to get a true feel for what a new system or new players might look like, but I feel it is a detriment to the players as well. That being said we will get a short glimpse of most of the starters for a bit Saturday against the Browns. That I am actually looking forward to. Plus it means we're that much closer to the real thing. Go Hawks!
The Danny Almonte reference was A+ writing. Especially during LLWS season.

Rumor has it that the Vikings need help in their secondary real bad. Who could they trade for one of our Safeties or CBs that would help us?

Unfortunately they sent MJ down the road. I too thought he was a ggod player, at the very least a very good back up.

I do as well

Joe! I’m a super Joe but am not getting the articles. Not sure what the issue is.
Appreciate you!

This trade for Barrett is bad news for Rattigan.
