Where do you get your Seahawks content?
And how does Oz the Mentalist actually do his tricks? I just found out the answer!
There is only one answer left from last week’s Seahawks fan survey that I haven’t shared with you yet and it was about which media resource you like the most (after Seaside Joe). Unsurprisingly, Field Gulls won in a blowout with 38.5% of the vote:
Here are the rest of the results:
38.5%, Field Gulls
13.7%, Bob Condotta (Seattle Times)
12.4%, Hawkblogger (independent)
9.4%, Rob Staton (independent)
8.5%, Mike Dugar (The Athletic)
6.4%, Brady Henderson (ESPN)
3.4%, Gregg Bell (Tacoma News)
2%, Cigar Thoughts/Jacson Bevens (write-in)
1.7%, Corbin Smith
There were some other write-in votes and some of them for some reason were for options that were already available like Field Gulls.
Seaside Joe and Field Gulls were tied together at birth so the connection there doesn’t surprise anyone. Even so, the evidence of a “legacy media death” seems somewhat apparent in these results. Do I worry about A.I. taking my job? I try not to worry about anything that’s outside of my control and the creation of an artificial intelligence that can search for moderately-related GIFs to pair with daily Seahawks content that could be written in a fraction of the time as what it takes me seems outside of my control.
But if you want to continue to support a human being who searches for moderately related GIFs, be my guest:
Seaside Streams - More Xs and Os explanations that even Seaside Joe can understand
Before YouTube, how did football fans get spoiled?
Here’s a new series of simple explainers on passing concepts, defensive formations, and more from the channel Fourth and Film. HIGHLY recommend for anyone who wants to better understand what’s happening on the field.
OFFENSE
DEFENSE
For someone like myself, I need repetive immersion to grasp new concepts, so I recmomend watching the videos multiple times if you’re the same.
Do you have YouTube videos about football you want to share?
Another easy-to-follow channel from a real person is Football Merritt. Here are two videos — 4 things every smart football fan should know, The 3-step formulate behind every defense — I recently watched:
Player Breakdowns - James Foster
New channel I came across last week: James Foster does really good breakdowns of young NFL players. I like it when I can embed a video and show you the thumbnail but the NFL has cracked down even harder on anyone who uses their content for videos. Here is Foster’s video on Jared Verse and another on Jags receiver Brian Thomas.
Maybe if we bombard him with comments asking for videos on Seahawks he will do it.
How “Oz the Mentalist” does his tricks
If you’ve watched Hard Knocks or practically any show with guests in the last couple of years then you’ve probably seen Oz the Mentalist. He’s on podcasts, I recall that he was on College GameDay last year, and he’s a very popular guest right now because without knowing how he does what he does, his ability to “guess” what people are thinking is very entertaining.
Now I’ve watched this video and I’m never going to see Oz the same again.
I’m sharing this because Oz seems to make daily appearances in NFL team meeting rooms and this expose only has 4,000 views. I only recommend watching it if you’re ready to pull down the curtain; I went into this video skeptical that the “law student” would convince me that he actually knows what Oz is doing, but his case is very strong.
There’s also this video and it’s only one minute and it’s funny:
Seaside Joe 2306
I didn't want to explain the Oz tricks in the article in case nobody wanted to hear it. But I'll gladly do the cliffnotes version if you don't want to watch a 50-minute video about it.
Humans create and machines just basically mimic to create the illusion of thinking. My opinion.
May the 12s be with you and Go Seahawks!
