Been saying the last few days. I think we see more Knight tonight. He can rush, not as good as Nick E but clearly good at it. And can defend short area passes like Nick. Then the new kid on block for nickel coverage, maybe.
Re: Safety. Coach Mac appears to have pushed Thomas lately. How great camp he’s had etc.
But I’m very concerned about this game. Not like the Pats stood pat….Completely revamped the WR room after last year’s blow up in their finale!!!!! Wish I had all the confidence you guys talking.
But you bet your bottom dollar I’m yelling & using all my energy to get that win tonight from section 137 Row BB!!!!
My biggest concern is the extreme noise level aimed at their Offense, making it necessary for our Defense to use hand signals to communicate adjustments. I think this explains why we do so well on Road Games. New guys and rookies will be unfamiliar with most of it all, which is Key to how we baffle their play designs.
I am believing that we are going to see a very different Offense this year.
certainly we all want the Run Game to succeed but I am of a mind that the passing part of our game will outshine the Run. JSN will be spectacular, Cooper solid as the rock of Gibraltar, our tight end group should be super knowing that the OC is a TE coach from SF. With all that said i believe that Shaheed will be the break out star . And once the Hawks have the Patriots on there heels the offensive line will open holes that a Mac Truck good run through. Our young rookie will gash the D line of the Patriots. Just Saying its a Great Time to be a Seahawk Fan.
I can see Witherspoon drifting back into a two-high after the snap to add to Maye's confusion, but even with as hard as he likes to hit, I still think Spoons is a little undersized for safety. I'd rather he keeps moving along the line, looking like he's blitzing when he's dropping out, looking like he's dropping out when he's blitzing, and drawing so much of Maye's attention that he forgets what play was called.
I agree. I’ve always seen Spoon as a hybrid corner-safety, so why not nudge him towards safety, and bring in a backup cornerback, assuming that’s the next best player in coverage.
If not, I’m assuming it’s Bell. Next in line could be Finley. He’s been with the Seahawks since 2024, and injuries have kept him off the field. He’s 24, he’s apparently now healthy, he has NFL experience, and he should know Macdonald’s system well by now. If the Seahawks discover that he’s got upside talent, everyone wins.
I’m less trusting of a player with more years, more NFL experience, but little Mike Macdonald experience.
I have no doubt Spoon understands the responsibility of every DB position, and his effort would be there at 110%. I’m not saying the dream will come true, but I do feel he’s capable of stepping into it and do a very respectable job.
Ahh, yes! I'm seeing Spoon riding herd back on our young guys, playing close enough to yell assignments/targets to them as the Hike gets near. When asked about crowd noise, Earnest Jones said they use hand signals. "No big deal". It will be a huge deal for newbies. But hey...maybe they have had enough time to familiarize themselves?
You’re downplaying it. He would do an exceptional job.
But, we would lose his skill at nickel and corner when he lines up deeper. So the big question is which backup DB is the strongest and what are they best at?
Thinking about it further, I could see Spoon moving to safety when Pritchet and Smith come on to the field and moving back to corner when Bell/Finley get snaps. And we won’t know his role on any given play until the ball is snapped. The Patriots won’t know either.
