MM and JS made a mistake with the Grubb hire. Part of that was how late they were getting around to the OC hire and how new everything was given it was their first year together and MM’s first year as HC. MM knew what he wanted in an OC. He tried telling Grubb after every loss. Play complementary football, run the ball… etc. The trouble was that wasn’t Grubb. We saw Kubiak was the result of that learning process. MM is a hell of a football mind and coach. He does not regress. He learns from every experience and gets better. Now everything we heard after KK left was there were very qualified coaches on the staff to take over from KK this year. It was hinted at by JS and by MM. But they did their due diligence. Fleury got an interview and MM was all on board. When I looked for reasons we didnt hire from within, all I could come up with was Fleury was that good. He blew MM away with how he saw the Seahawks playing offense. This was evident in February. At least to me it was. It was the only explanation I could come up with for the out of left field hire by the best GM and HC in football. I see the Seahawks offense going from top 10-12 to top 5 this year. Part of that is Darnold. But I think Fleury with Darnold will be a case of the sum of the two of them is greater than the parts. Darnold, who I felt finished the Super Bowl as the 8th best QB in the league, will finally be seen as a top 5 QB after this season. This system will make him better. Using the RBs and TEs more will result in less situations where turnovers occur. This team could be historic. I stand by my 15 win 2 loss prediction, but if we beat the Broncos week 6, winning out is a real possibility. 20 - 0!
