My favorite regular season Hawks game of all-time: Oct. 29, 2017 Texans vs. Seahawks with the Hawks winning late (41 - 38) on a game winning TD by my boy Jimmy Graham (he had 2 TDs that game). I was lucky enough to witness that game in person, rocking my #88 Graham jersey in wolf gray. The crowd was electric and we celebrated the victory accordingly! Such a great time, love these Hawks!!!
2012 Hail Mary win over Packers!!! Golden Tate pushed off, grabbed DB, then let go in time to wrestle Wilson pass away… With replacement refs!!! Doesn’t get any better!!!
Maybe not my favorite game in of itself but the one that will always stick in my memory.
September 15, 2013. Sunday Night Football against SF in Seattle. Also happened to be one of the final episodes of Breaking Bad at the same time on the east coast. So, I set the dvr for breaking bad and settle in to watch the game.
Suddenly the skies open up in Seattle and the rain pours down and lightning and thunder claps. The game is delayed, so I’m like “ok well I’ll just watch Breaking Bad until the game’s back on.”
The episode? Ozymandias. Maybe the greatest episode of television I’ve ever watched in my life.
So I sit there white knuckling it through the episode, and right as it ends and my heart is racing and I’m trying to catch my breath, the game starts back up. And the Seahawks smash the 9ers 29-3 to go 3-0. I think that was the game where I finally really started to believe that this team could be different.
If Ashton Jeanty was there at 1.18, I think you need to take him, if 'best player available' is anything more than sh!t GM's say at draft time. In many people's opinion, he's the the top prospect in the draft, and would only slide down draft boards because of positional value. So you take him, and figure out your roster from there. Trades, injuries, and other roster events will sort things out. We'd look pretty foolish if he ends up performing like Barkley for 8-10 years for someone else, while K9 and Charbs don't end up being much better than league average. And that's a very real possibility.
Because of the alleged dearth of true blue chip players in this years draft, round 1 could be the wild west, which I'd totally enjoy. Nothing like a little draft chaos, as long as we end up with a prize we should never have gotten.
Fair enough. It will come back to the Seahawks board, as it always does. If they like him as much as many talent evaluators love him, and he's sitting there at 1.18.......if will be interesting. Seahawk fandom would lose their minds, which would be almost worth making the pick :) But, like you, perhaps they're not that high on him.
I wish John wasn't so secretive with his damn draft board.
Favorite game? For the regular season. I’ll go with the 34-27 win over the 6-1 Oakland Raiders in Husky Stadium (11/01/2001). Windy and rainy all night, with the Raiders’ cloaks blowing, Shaun Alexander popped 266 yards and 3 TDs including one after an 88-yard run. Darrell Jackson added 107 yards receiving and, after lining up on one play, asked Raider DB Eric Allen (and future HOFer) for an autographed jersey. Fun game from beginning to end, and if anyone had any doubts about Shaun, they didn’t after this game.
Can I cheat and say three games that stick out to me like no other?
Was W14-W16 2012. We were going along fairly well, Russ was looking good but clearly still a rookie and still clearly not being given the entire playbook. Defense was doing better and better, looking like something really special was brewing on D, but the offense not so much.
Then in W13 we beat the Bears on the road in OT and Russ suddenly has people talking, that was a legit OT game winning drive and no question he was the guy mixing the drinks.
And then those three magical games W14-16. We beat the Cards 58-0, beat the Bills on the road 50-17 and destroyed the Niners at home 42-13. In three games we outscore the opponents 150-30. And I mean destroyed, especially the Niners who until that game were set to be the #2 seed. They were no pushover and we destroyed them. That was the game KamBam laid the hardest hit I’ve ever seen on poor Vernon Davis and got flagged for what could only be called “hitting too hard” or “that can’t be legal”.
I’ll tell you, after those three games I was legitimately a believer that we had an offense and a defense that would one day soon, win it all.
Favourite regular season game was against the Bears in 2012. We won in overtime, it was Russ' rookie season, he played out of his skin the whole 2nd half and OT. That's when I knew he was special.
While I appreciate its just a question, I am BAFFLED by the idea that we would switch DK to a different position. He isn't a TRASH receiver, he had a down year in a poor environment and was noticeably injured down the stretch. The primary motive behind looking to trade him is financial/asset management: extending him into his mid 30s probably isn't a smart play and losing him for a comp pick would be a poor return. Let's pump the brakes a little here.
The only bummer in that 2012 Bears game, was that on the winning TD, Sydney Rice got knocked out. I was happy they won, but that kind of took the fun out of it.
Big boards won't make much sense, in my limited experience, until we have verified numbers and solid gossip from the combine. Some of which we got from the Senior/Shrine events. Milroe, for example, has 8.6-inch hands, so I'm out. Gabriel is, if memory serves, only 5'10", which is still taller than I was at his age but I'm not drafting that chance, either.
The NFL always sees players differently than draft analysts do, and what works for one team doesn't necessarily fit another. Today's hunch is we'll see at least three QBs go in the first round. That kind of surprise will shuffle players like Murphy down to us at 18.
If you told me, and without doing enough math to make the draft values add up, that we could trade 18 and 50 for two higher slots in the second round and another third round choice or two, I think I'd go for it.
(Unrelated side thought: Travis Hunter may indeed be a special and especially great player, but I wouldn't draft him. I think there are good odds he doesn't make it to a second contract, or, if he does, it will be as a much diminished player. What makes him special can be taken from him too easily, especially playing both ways for 17 pro games a season. Now watch him go to the Hall of Fame!)
But, man, I'd sure love to know how Schneider sets up his draft board. Never will, alas...
It always seems to me from post-draft chatter that Schneider has an even tighter draft board than league average, or certainly than the media. Which may explain why he trades down so often.
And in looking at the few gm’s I covet (Howie Roseman is my #1), the difference to me is Roseman seems to be more committed to the guys he thinks are difference-makers, and will do whatever he has to do to land them. And he’s usually right (the hard part)
Last observation is I think there are drafts where Schneider is “stuck” with his pick. Not enough trade down options and no one left on the board they like. So he drafts a guy like Ofedi or my “favorite”, LJ Collier. Will never forget the deflated post-draft press conference after that draft, clearly they got stuck and tried to make the best of it, but their guys all got away from them. Wish I knew for sure which drafts those were, bc we attribute those R1 picks to Schneider but I think he himself would say “hey, those were making the best of a bad situation”.
Guess you could criticize him for missing a Maxx Crosby who went in the 4th but guys just don’t roll the dice that far down their draft boards. Everyone’s missed on guys like him.
This draft board is a great idea. Its basically and excel workbook with a sorting function. Don’t know how to set it up for posting but the basic is easy.

One other thing to add here, just watching things:
It could always be worse. You could have Jerry Jones as an owner AND Jerry Jones as a GM.
Maybe not my favorite game in of itself but the one that will always stick in my memory.

I've got him as overrated. Just my intuition, really, Watching them both, I thought Scatebo was the better RB.

Playoffs, the tip game for sure.

35 carries!
Wow, that was a great game. Fun to watch those old highlights.

Hello Read Option
One of the most deadly plays during that time period that no defense knew how to stop yet. Almost like a cheat code for Russ, RG3, and Kaep.
I also always remember that bills game partly because it was played in Toronto and we just rolled.
My favorite regular season game is Geno beating the world, the broncos, and RW week 1 2022 at home.
Other games I enjoyed. RW beating the patriots at home ending with Sherman asking Brady “u mad bro?”
I enjoyed the Bills game in Toronto during the read option era (early Russell Wilson) when the Hawks pummeled the bills.
Drew Lock game winning drive against the Eagles last year.
Geno Smith game winning TD run at San Fran 2024.
Also the bears game with RW mentioned above.
Most of the games historically that’s standout are from the playoffs. Which is great

I wonder, at this point, if other GMs exploit his tendencies.
I’m sure they do, and this is shaping up like a classic trade down year 🤬
Hmm. Time to trade up?
That's what Howie does -- he'll go get the guy he wants.
This draft board is a great idea. Its basically and excel workbook with a sorting function. Don’t know how to set it up for posting but the basic is easy.
SSJ himself uses Google forms for polls etc. No reason we couldn’t use forms and sheets for this as well.
Tre Harris from Ole Miss could be an absolute terror. Hope he doesn’t go to an NFC West team.
