Seahawks training camp Thursday notes
Zach Charbonnet returns, Darrell Taylor exits, more from 8/3/2023
Zach Charbonnet returned to practice on Thursday, but Darrell Taylor was added to the list of injury concerns. Pete Carroll says that Taylor has a “shoulder sprain” that won’t require surgery, so it is a situation to monitor but may not result in a prolonged absence.
Charbonnet is going to participate in Friday’s mock game. Ken Walker III did not participate in practice but was on the field on Thursday. I wouldn’t expect him to participate in the mock game, however everything I’ve heard and read so far is that there isn’t a person on the Seahawks who is worried about Walker being ready for the season.
Additionally, Carroll called Boye Mafe the “most improved” player from last season.
In other news, Geno Smith was cleared of DUI charges from a January, 2022 arrest. Bob Condotta accidentally notes here that Smith had a BAC of .38 instead of .038. A .38 would actually be 4.5 times the legal limit and I don’t know, put him in the hospital or worse?
Not to be short, but I don’t think there was any other relevant news from Thursday’s practice, which was not in pads.
Zach Charbonnet is fine
Darrell Taylor was out, but he could be fine
Still no Riq Woolen and the starting outside corners continue to be Mike Jackson and Tre Brown
I posted my thoughts on Wednesday of watch to watch for in the mock game, which starts around 5:15 PM on Friday. I’ll add a few more Seahawks-related notes for premium Regular Joes subscribers after the break but if you want to stay as a free subscriber no problem, I think that’s all of the relevant practice news today.
I’ll write Part II of Kurt Warner’s film study on Geno Smith (you can watch it yourself here), thoughts on why Dave Canales might have gotten the worst OC job possible, and theorizing if the Seahawks are “the best practicers” in the NFL.
