Such great perspective -- which is what you get when you step back and look at the forest instead of the trees, really cool article!

I'm SO glad it was MacDonald instead of Johnson who although mega-talented is by all accounts an asshole which is prob why he didn't get the ultimate oppty from Schneider (rumors the interviews weren't great...). Plus, I will always prefer defense-first having learned from 2013 what a great defense can do, even against that Broncos all-time-best offense there's ever been, and then proven again by the 2015 Broncos who pivoted to defense to win that one. And arguably the Chiefs are 15-1 this year more due to their defense than their offense. Not saying Seattle can have a 25th ranked offense and win, but somewhere in the middle will do it, if you have a great defense.

Really motivated for 2015, think we are closer than people think considering how new everything was this year. Hell even the changes to the locker room posters was a "thing"....

Good list SSJ. Even though the playoffs aren’t happening, many good things did. And we have this great Seahawks community that seems bent of remaining civil and truly learning.

May we all have a great 2025 that ends with the Seahawks poised for a deep playoff run.

Appreciate this one extra, SSJ! I've been pretty down on my 'Hawks for the last few seasons. I didn't really want Pete fired, but I did approve of Mike Mac being the replacement if that had to happen. I was torn between him and Ben Johnson, and didn't have a strong preference which. But seeing as defense was where we seemed to be struggling, my slight lean was towards MacDonald. I just hoped the offense wouldn't regress.

And then it did, and pretty consistently. I was down on the franchise as a whole and started voting "no" in the SB Nation polls that ask if you are confident in the direction of the franchise. Protection and run blocking was awful, and it seemed like Geno was worse when he had time. Walker couldn't hit a hole to save his life and he was one player I was expecting a breakout year from. JSN came on at least, but Tyler dropped off at about the same rate. After a handful of games I worried most whenever we were in the red zone. It was just all a mess.

Add to this, social media and message boards like Field gulls became fractured over Geno Smith and then Grubb, and all blame was on the O line, and any attempt at a nuanced discussion that maybe it wasn't ALL the O line was rebuked with the brainless comeback, "YoU dOn'T kNoW bAlL!" Which I don't think I have ever, even once seen written out in the comment section here, so thanks for the civil discussion, fellas (and ladies).

Add to that, I missed a over month of games due to no power/internet or both and I kind of started feeling my love for the team and its fans wane a little. And seeing seas of opponent jerseys in the stands at Lumen field didn't help. But we will come out of this with a winning record and a promising defense for next year. And even if we all know that isn't enough, there's hope that the right changes will be made.

Happy New Year SSJers, and may 2025 be our best since 2013!

I will never forget number 5! Great list Joe.

All great points. But watching Geno hold the ball out to finally slay the dragon in SF was amazing. My friends and I had a great time that week basting in the Niners misery. Really made my whole year.

Similar to when UW beats the Ducks.

MacDonald was certainly numero uno for me.

Happy New Year everyone! Thanks for all of the respectful dialogue on here in 2024. It's rare to find that these days, and I very much appreciate SSJ and all of folks who participate in the discussions.

The bright spots were not ALL on D: JSN has had the kind of season we were all hoping he would have and his future looks bright as the Seahawks #1 WR. Charbs has done some good things as the #1 while K9 is on the shelf. Next year I hope they form the kind of duo Detroit has in Montgomery and Gibbs.

And Grubb… we have to credit his successes this year and beating the Niners is one of those, along with beating the Cards 2x. I don’t care if the Rams are coasting into the playoffs or not, I would love to see a win to close out the season and give the Seahawks at least one win over each of their division rivals.

We did have bright spots. The defense was better. Murphy does not seem to be flashy more in the Mebane mold. I would add as a bright sport was Colby Bryant.

Yes love what Coby has been doing. And agree and like the Murphy comment. I expected “flash” after all SJ said about him post draft, but yes a JReed get it done is a positive. And remember a few years back JReed was a double sack dline player.

I agree with your list. Funny how when being honest about the state of a team having a far less than stellar season means you are negative. Falsely praising this team or players would make you nothing better than the announcers and clickbait writers who think the only way to keep readers is to convince them they have a great team being dealt a bad hand by others.

Keep being honest. I would really not appreciate being made to think I must be crazy if I couldn't see how great the Seahawks were this season. LOL

Beating the 49ers felt good, and I think marked a turning point for that franchise who is going through the post-competitive slump that the Seahawks suffered through after the run of Super Bowls.
