Well gee, Seattle vs the 49ers next week. And maybe the Rams the next week. What could possibly be better? To be honest, I can't remember how I voted, but this is my dream come true. Every week will be the Game Of The Week, go Hawks!!
This is the NFL and anything can happen on any given Sunday, yada, yada, yada, but seriously, is there any actual reason to fret about a 49er win next week? I'm thinking, NO!
“it sure looked easy when Matthew Stafford needed a two-minute touchdown to secure the win…”
The PB CB was out so the Panthers had to play a guy who had been on the field in 2025 for something like fifty snaps. No matter how this game turned out, as it transpired the Rams were either going to be embarrassed or humiliated.
The Seahawks are on a mission and there isn't going to be anything or anyone stopping them. Wouldn't it be cool and fitting to have the Hawks terminate both the 49'ers and the Rams season on their way to the Super Bowl?
Rams or 49ers coin toss??? I like what I had recently read online. Why not play the stronger team now when you’re the most rested and healthy? Especially if you think there are in line of your goal, and will have to play them eventually. I’ll be cheering on the Eagles this afternoon to eliminate the 49ers. An early story already makes this point that the Ram’s D is relatively weak compared to Seattle, by a larger factor, than the difference between Rams and this Hawks offense. I think we beat the Rams when ever that happens in the post season, just saying it might be easier next Sunday. GO Hawks!
I want the 49ers first. That offence is an easier solve for our defence, and that defence is an easier solve for our offence. As good as Shanahan is, schematically and talent wise we have the edge at the moment - leading to a match-up we should be able to get through in 5th gear.
I want the Rams to go to the Bears and play one more game. Ideally, and looking at the Bears this year this is likely, one that goes the distance in the 4th or even overtime, that forces the Rams to play hard all night long. I don't *want* the Rams to get hurt, but I *want* them to come to us having had to go two full distance games in a row and nursing as many bruises as possible.
Whilst over the AFC i think it's a lot of teams that'll put punches on each other as well. All heading towards a Superbowl were we come in comparatively fresh, riding high on another shutdown defensive game and Darnold showing he's Darnew - and just get to lay the smack down on Patriots. Maye for MVP? Maye for an MRI once we've hit him a dozen times.
Looking back at the two Hawks/Rams games, QB rating for Stafford was much higher than Darnold, but Stafford can go dark in the middle of a game. The Panthers came on strong at the end yesterday, but their coach let them down because they didn't play the clock down like they should have giving Stafford too much time to score. A cagey crafty vet like Stafford, even with a bruised hand can always pull out the win against a less experienced defense for those critical 2-3 minutes. But I don't think that would have happened to the Hawks, because our cagiest, craftiest vets are on the D line, so they would have done that drill a million times and would have seen him coming and held held him off for the win.
I'm okay with getting the Rams out of the running. I am so confused over why so many announcers think Stafford deserves MVP this season. Football is a rough sport, but it shouldn't be mean and what I see in the Rams is mean.
If ever there was a season where MVP was NOT a QB, it was this one! But alas this is the world we're stuck in where it's a default award to "QB who was least frustrating, we think", and even then i'd argue it's Maye over Stafford (and even then i'd argue it's Josh Allen over Maye, he's done his damndest to drag the Bills to the playoffs regardless of how cooked that team is, or heck T-Law should be getting a lot more attention for MVP).
Give the MVP deservingly to Myles Garrett. Yes he got one more game but he broke a record most of us thought was pretty untouchable in the modern NFL era. No-one brought more value to their team than Myles and we could well be looking at another 20+year record now in place.
I find it intriguing as folks say that we could basically play the rest of our division for the superbowl. Bring it on! I'm still not a believer in the Bears.
I certainly don't mind the rams next, right after we rested and they have the extra bumps and bruises, but that means we'll have to face the Eagles or Bears next. I don't fear any remaining teams, especially not the Bears and their defense.
Ultimately, I can't ever root for the 9ers or Rams, even if it would be easier on us. The FTR is strong in this one.
I'm undecided about what result I should hope for.
If the 49ers win, we will face the supposedly easier opponent in our first playoff game. But since the Rams are bound to defeat the Bears, we will face the presumably stronger opponent anyway. So is it better to play the Rams as early as possible so that we are still fresh? Or is it better to play the Rams later, when they have another exhausting game under their belts?
I can't count out Ben Johnson. SSJ wanted him as our Coach, with MM a close second and I can now see why. We would have landed him, except for him being a damn loyal guy. Big Plus. Not only is he the League's premier genius with X's and O's, he's proving he can Motivate at the highest levels. Given another week, there'll be no telling how His Guys will respond. If they get equally inspired, watch out. At Home, no less.
I’m so glad we didn’t hire him and while Schneider may have thought he wanted him (to have his own McVey), if I recall correctly the interview was horrible, or worse than horrible. Which is why I think he’s going to wear thin over there pretty quickly (as is Williams who’s also a prima donna). Would be awesome though if they could take out the Rams for us!
The problem with Johnson is he's, well, a bit of a dick. I'm not a fan of coaches being disrespectful of their opponents, especially when you get to stand on the sidelines and not put shoulder pads on.
The last time I had such confidence was with the 1985 Ditka/McMahan bears. Funny thing is they actually hated each other. McMahan was ordered to cut his hair, so he showed up to the Big Rookie Intro Dinner in a limo, which Ditka was out front, greeting all the rookies as they arrive. Tuxedos required. McMahan gets out sporting a new Mohawk haircut. Ditka is staring at him like an alien just walked up. McMahan takes off his overcoat and hands it to Ditka, like you'd do with a coat-check clerk and walks in.
I voted Niners next week but you make a helluva point. If we get the Rams on two weeks rest, esp after the dogfight they had yestdy and without Dodson (I assume he’ll be out next week), then it’s Bears or Eagles in the NFC championship which I like better than Rams.
But alas, earlier I predicted no NFC team would beat anyone in the NFC West other than each other, so….

I didn’t and don’t care who we play. A week ago, we beat up the Niners in Santa Clara; next week we’ll beat them up in Seattle.
Did anybody see anything this weekend that the Seahawks can’t handle?

Didn't participate in the chat, sorry.
SF beats Philly!
Potential Seattle - LA matchup in two weeks.
Go Hawks

Go Hawks
That would be especially cool.
Line 'em up. Any order. Doesn't matter.
Beat the best to be the best, isn’t that the cliche?
Iron sharpens iron.

I don’t have a substantive sports comment, but props for the punny title.
Best comment of the day.

Think of Breads “It Don’t Matter To Me “.
It will be a tough row to hoe but in doing it will add to their legacy.
May the 12s and the Dark Side be with you and Go Seahawks!
My first date with my wife was to see David Gates (lead singer of Bread) when we were 17. 50th wedding anniversary coming up later this year. :)
Congratulations!
McDude, Thanks for the song, "It Don't Matter To Me" 'n group Bread.
... have heard "I Want To Make It With You" but didn't know the group.
And Aubrey was her name.
Geez……forgot that one.
I can’t forget that one. Had a girlfriend named Aubrey, a not so very ordinary name.

Good One, Chris. Yeppers.
I agree. Go Bears, I think Johnson has magic.

Great story. Glad you shared it, Jimmy. I have even more respect for McMahan now.
Jimmy: Hey, that was awesome, dude!! Loved that story!!! GO Bears!
Oh, Dang! ... don't remember That one. hah, hah.

I say bring on the Rams! Anyone we get after that will be an easier game.
