We all love Bobby, but he doesn't give us anything we don't already have - overpaid veteran "culture" guys (Bellore for example), and LB's half a step off the pace (Barton for example).
Give me (in no particular order) Zach Cunningham, Lavonte David, Devin Bush, Tremaine Edwards instead & re-sign Barton + draft Sanders (still my hope for #20) or Jack Campbell (2nd Rd, ideally 3rd).
Wagner takes a deal with a 2023 & 2024 Cap hit under $3mil (So $6-8mil total structured smartly) I could be talked around. But something tells me he'll be striving for double that, probably more.
It's a classic no brainer. I'm surprised at anyone who would choose Barton over almost anyone, much less a second team all pro. However, we still need to draft a LB with more speed and a better linebacker in coverage.
I voted yes, but I doubt it’s gonna happen. Bobby fits better in our new defense than he did in our old. There are less lateral speed requirements and deep coverage responsibilities for the Mike in a 3/4 than before. That is the way the Rams used him. We need a one year rental linebacker. I just don’t see Bobby doing it. The Bills are likely going to have a roster spot for an inside linebacker and if Bobby is looking for a roster spot on a contender and willing to play for below market value that makes more sense..
I answered yes to this poll, mostly based on emotion. That guy was the best...for a long time...a future HOF'r and a class act. Thinking it through, if Cody and Bobby cost about the same for one year...no contest...they need to try to bring Bobby back. No training required, instant leadership and passion, team would love it, a potential great ending to a great NFL career. Let Cody walk and place a higher priority on drafting a stud LB for the future. JBrooks and said drafted stud for the future...Bobby now! I'm almost having a tantrum...
That's imprecise language I used. What I mean is if there's a way that it works both for the team and the player it could be something special. The potential is there and that's something I think Pete reaches for and sometimes gets ahold of.
I just feel bad for Bobby. He was so emotionally injured when the Hawks released him, and now just one season with the Rams and they are doing the same. My guess is he thinks he is valuable enough for a trade rather than just cutting ties and leaving him to find a new team. Maybe he will do the same thing KJ did and sign for a day with the Hawks just to retire here.
If they can work out something agreeable to both parties, bringing Bobby back is a no-brainer. The Hawks have a lot of holes to fill, and signing Bobby would allow them to put off MLB for another year.
Totally agree it's a heart/ head thing. Who has more heart than Bobby? And what impact does that have on a team? But we certainly have to be careful about looking back vs going forward.
This is a head/heart thing for me. Get Bobby back, YES says the heart. He is... <3 Bobby!
But... and notwithstanding his game in LA vs the Seahawks where he turned the clock back... Bobby is not THAT Bobby anymore, and LBs don't get faster when they age, or become better tacklers. Being in the right position a half-step too slow means... missing the tackle.
I would much rather put up with a rookie's mistakes if that rookie has a lot of upside. The Seahawks are not SB contenders next year, realistically, so let's find a younger, cheaper option that has some upside (sorry Bobby, I hate myself for saying that).
So... I must be the "no" vote. And I will be glad to be proven wrong. Emotionally, I'd love to have him. But also, emotionally, I'd feel like we were back to 2021. I don't know what we're doing with our 3-4 defense. I'm still not sure the coaches know what we're doing with it. But it feels like having Bobby in there would only further confuse matters. (As having Jamal with his special talents--observed briefly with joy and wonder his first season with us and not since--confuses matters.) I'm not as down on Cody Barton as some and might like to see how he does in his second year in this "system." I think it's time to draft some more young studs at the position.
Bobby isn't the player he used to be, but he's still far better than Barton. I wouldn't do more than a 2 year deal though. If he still wants $10M I'd say we let him seek greener pastures, which he may want to do anyway. As much as I loved him as a Seahawk, they will look at this solely as a business.
Bobby will go play wherever he wants. I don't think it will be whichever team pays best.

Bobby's leadership would be a bonus for all the newer defense players.
I couldn't hit the yes button faster.

It’s gotta be for the right price - or for the retirement ceremony.
Please Bobby! Whatever happens! Please please please don't be a 49er!

We love Bobby. Bringing him in.... somehow, seems like the right thing. Could be inspiring. Could be sad.

I'd rather see younger, cheaper and higher upside too. But if we're voting for Wagner or Barton at the same price, then I want my Bobby back!
