I think Will Anderson is too good to pass on at #2 or #3, so I don't think the Texans trade down. I'm mostly convinced that there are only two top five QBs, in Young and Stroud, and that whoever doesn't go #1 will go no later than #3. If Houston doesn't like the QB remaining to them, they will pick Anderson at #2 and Arizona will swap picks with the Colts, who will take the second QB drafted. There is no reason for the Colts to make this trade pre-draft, as they can wait and see what Houston does and don't have to worry about another team outbidding them.

Height, weight, and time 3 reasons why Young might be there at 2 or even 5, and benefit from a year on the bench behind Geno. Much has been said about Young’s slot receiver body, but little has been said about the most concerning stat - time to throw. Young displays extraordinary processing ability but his average time to throw is over 3 seconds, and that is concerning. By comparison Strouds is a little over 2.5. One reason for the disparity is Young’s ability to avoid the primary rush and then make off schedule plays which adds to the average but the primary reason is Young takes two additional steps in his drop back to be able to see the defense. Those two steps let him throw over the middle but it appears that Young reads the safeties/linebackers at the back of the drop. If Young is going to succeed long term in the NFL he is going to have to improve on that. Holding the ball for 3 seconds two steps further back is a recipe for disaster in the NFL, as it gives DE a wider route and an extra half second to get home. Drew Breese was able to play at Young’s size because despite the extra two steps his average time to throw was 2.5 seconds. I think the Seahawks are the perfect fit for Young because Waldron was brought in to fix the time to throw with Russ. Russ wasn’t able or willing to learn new tricks and eventually went back to Russ ball. (Good luck Payton actually I mean that I hope he can turn Russ around). But I think Young can because he is much more fundamentally sound and I think he is a faster processor than Russ was. To bring his time down he is going to need a year or more of practice, otherwise he is in the game getting drilled and he might get not survive. The Seahawks and the Raiders are the teams set up for Young to succeed in 2024/2025. We will see what happens.

The Fantasy "Lets Draft Young & Go All-In on Offence" Draft Plan: Young #5, JSN #20, Schmitz/Wypler #37, Mauch/TE #52, Daniels/Ekiyor #83, Spears/Tucker/McIntosh #123, Johnson/Rodriguez #151, Dell/Wilson/Jones/Iosivas #154, Sow/Broeker #198, Forsyth/Higgins/Jefferson #237.

Young star QB, new star WR, bulked our OLine, RB depth, another speedy YAC receiver, and then just more OLine/WR depth. Trade away Geno to someone who needs a QB (Ravens/Patriots/Jets who i'm feeling more like somehow don't get Rodgers/Buccs) in return for one or two Defenders. Send Fant/Dissly somewhere again for a Defender. Explore the interest in Lockett if someone will offer up a '24 1st or class Defender. Just turn every game into a 45:45 offensive shootout and have nothing but fun! Then by clearing Diggs & Adams, and the 1st Rd and cap from moving on Lockett we attack Defence FA even harder, draft for those couple of defensive holes, and win the '24 Superbowl 65:25 vs the Bills.

Ah ok got it. A scenario I hadn’t actually considered, intriguing as hell. What a scenario…imagine McCall outcompeting Young so the QB they trade (after Geno!) is Young….so three QB’s traded by Seattle in 5 yrs (Wilson Geno Young) for a total of 6 firsts and several others….Pete Carroll the quarterback whisperer…Seattle Seahawks the QB factory….lol!! Love it!!

Yep. Let’s add this to the mix is Anderson worth the 5 and the 20th draft pick? If the answer for the Seahawks is yes then the Seahawks can trade blind before the draft. If Young is selected first then they take Anderson, If he isn’t they take Young.

Why the Texans do it. They need players with the 5, the 11th and the 20th they can get a corner, an edge rusher and a generational running back and then get a quarterback next year. Demarco has been with teams built in running the ball and playing defense that is not bad core of players to start with.

Why Seahawks do it. The 20th pick is a no man’s land where the 1st round grades run out. For the Seahawks that is likely particularly true in this draft because there are only two first round receivers- greatest position of need. 4 edge rushers - position of need, and two defensive tackles position of need, and 1 running back luxury . That is not to say I think it’s a bad draft. In my opinion there are two QBs worthy of a first round grade Stroud and Young (neither are likely to there at 5), there are also 3 Offensive Tackles and 1 Tackle/Guard worthy of first round grades, 3 to 4 corners, two tight ends and 1 safety. But for the Seahawks to get a position they need with a first round grade they are going to have to get lucky.

Same thing is true with respect to elite prospects at 5. There are 2 maybe 3 elite prospects in the draft. Young, Anderson and possibly Carter that is it. There is a good possibility Carter will be there at 5 but it is not a sure thing and the issues with racing and the conditioning are a concern.

That being said even if the Texans are willing I don’t think Pete does it. I just don’t see him going all in on a quarterback or edge rusher.

I'm on board for Young for next years' first round pick because if they take Young they are not in the running for a QB next year, and this is in effect a pick for next year. Otherwise, get someone to trade up to five if he falls to us.

We need Carter. We need Carter to focus all his effort into being a great player, and all our questions are answered. Carter can become that centerpiece of a defense that makes the defense become a great defense again.

I would like to remind everyone that our OLB group amassed 26 total sacks last year spread between Nwosu 9.5, D. Taylor 9.5, Irvin 4, and Mafe 3. And while I get that neither Mafe nor Taylor seem to be a complete player yet, but they are both young and need reps to improve and get used to this system. Drafting Will Anderson needs to be a second choice at best even if he is a potential improvement at the position, but it is not the best use of draft resources compared to an interior defensive star who can fit right in immediately and immediately improve our team without displacing anyone we already have.

If Carter is gone or we have removed him from consideration we need someone else at the same position and I'd consider Kancey, but there are possibly good choices later in the draft, too. But Ade Ade will likely be gone before 37 so we could get him at 20.

I remember during last years draft there was a lot of talk about how THIS years draft had 2 and maybe 3 "Can't Miss" quarterbacks. Do I remember that correctly? If so, who were those QBs? Were they Young and Stroud?

I'm not trying to make a point, I just have a feeble memory...

Whisper it with me... "Bryce Young is too short... don't draft Bryce Young... he is like Kyler Murray" while visualizing Carolina, Houston, and Indy. Then imagine John RUNNING to the podium and selecting the next QB to win the SB in Seattle.

Not likely to happen, but we can whisper and dream.

Until then, I am hoping that the Seahawks take Carter at #5 just to watch SDB explode after a guarantee... a GUARNATEE was posted today to say that won't happen... :D

The important question: Does Young wipe his ass sitting down or standing up? I didn't even know there was more than one way until I saw someone do it so I of course went and looked up old reddit threads with people arguing about the correct way.

Ok...got a question for you, although hopelessly hypothetical: if you KNEW you could draft Grayson McCall next year at #75, and you also had the oppty to trade up for Young at #3, but it cost you #20 and #52, let’s call those Mayer and Tippman, what do you do?
