Geno is 'most likely QB to be cut' per OTC
Seahawks have most players on list of top-100 most likely players to be cut
In a list of 100 possible cut candidates by OvertheCap.com, Tyler Lockett was ranked as the Seahawks’ most likely player to be a cap casualty (a move that has been apparent for a long time), but more surprising to most (not us) will be Geno Smith’s placement as being tied as the most likely quarterback to be released based on his “Odds of Negative Fate”, OTC’s formula based on “the outcome of multiyear contracts signed by vested veterans”.
Geno has the same odds as Aaron Rodgers to be overstaying his welcome, a quarterback who few expect to stay with his current team on his current deal.
There are important distinctions to be made here, ones that could certainly keep Geno Smith on the Seahawks in 2025 and potentially beyond, but if fans are having an honest conversation about CONTRACT LEVERAGE then Geno sort of played himself out of it by adding $6 milllion to his tab in Week 18.
