Was something, how that entire LOB era team played with huge chips on their shoulders.

It's early to be guessing Woolen for the Hall. One has to play at a very high level for a very long time. But if he progresses, manages to stay healthy and doesn't lose his speed or quickness, he'll have a shot. He's not yet near his full potential. In a couple of years, if all goes well, wow!

I, for one, voted for Woolen as MVP. Because he’s a walking golden jacket. Geno has been great, but Dissly got my vote as favorite “new rodeo”. However, my favorite rookie is Abe Lucas. This is a guy that can become the best right tackle in the league, and somehow “more surprising” than Woolen. There is top tier talent in all rounds for most positions. Offensive lineman is usually very poor after the first two rounds. But here’s a third rounder that’s arguably the best rookie lineman in football.

Baldwin, Sherman, Woolen and some others prove that smarts and hard work and a huge chip on their shoulders make for great players. Pete and John look for those types.

Tariq Woolen is the player he is for a number of reasons. He is cool calm and collected, which are all qualities you want to see in a corner. He could be the fastest player in the NFL, and got to learn his craft, against Lockett, DK, and Goodwin , three burners. The number one reason is Pete Carroll and his staff. They were able to teach Riq the finer points of corner. Pete was asked why did he not go until the 5th round, Pete said" just look at his college tape". This is where the scouting department and John Schneider get their credit. Pete's ability to teach corner, and Woolen's smarts for being able to understand what he was being taught is fantastic. Much as Pete declared after the Niners game that Geno knew all the plays and they would let him go. A few games later Pete said that Michael Jackson and Woolen knew the defense so well they didn't have to hold back the game plan. Jody Allen's decision looks better everyday. Woolen only talked to three teams at the combine and Woolen said the first two thought he was to goofy. Pete met with him for over half an hour, going over schemes. Woolen obviously got it, and Pete got him
