Bears sign Coby Bryant. Not going to do a separate post for this one just yet.

3 years, $40 million for Coby. No way. I would never do that.

I'm happy for him. Glad we didn't pay it...

In general these early FA signings have been ridiculous. Silly money for Coby and although I like him, he’s not worth that and the Bears are going to be sorry. Wait till he’s not in a MacDonald defense (can you say “Geno Stone”)

Paul G's avatar

That’s basically the Bears’ cap space. Looks like Coby knew what he was doing when he didn’t sign an extension last year, though.

We can do better for way less money.

Sad face. Sorry SJJ, I can't heart that post.

3 year $40 million for Coby. More than Love gets paid.

Bon voyage K9...wish you the best. Next man up.

Whoever is pack'n the pig for us (and a healthy Charb in top form would suit me just fine), it's all about the front five (the system) and the other five Dawgs blocking for said run game (no run blocking for you Sam). I predict our run game will pair nicely with Sam's play action dime throwing party whoever is toting the rock.

Rico Dowdle for 6mil a year to the hawks would’ve actually been great, IMO was the only solid FA RB available. I saw his signing to the Steelers and thought why the hawks didn’t jump in and nab him¿? Curious 👀

I’m befuddled by having denied Walker at $14.5 but then signing Rashid for $17m. Mind is literally on tilt. In Schneider we trust but wtf, esp with a run-first offense, a new OC needing continuity, players who get it, and Horton coming off IR. I’m literally speechless

A bunch of magical things happened this year for Walker. I'm super delighted it all came together and he had an astounding MPV SB game: ohmygoodness. That performance will leave an indelible mark on the Hawks' memory, for sure. He was helped by the better run/throw balance this year: he ran a lot this season; he was also catching! But the SB game was special: it seemed he was playing for the team and the win, and he was running plays also for Charbonnet who wasn't on the field. He made every play matter, and every play count. He was going to MAKE that TD over the pilings. He dragged a lot of defenders down the field all season long. During the SB, the color commentators all talked about the patience in his runs - halting/pausing to make the defender commit, then pivoting and sprinting away. I'll miss that!! Maybe he will play the exact same way for the Chiefs as he did for us in the SB; maybe we saw one of his best games EVER. I wish him great luck!!

I don’t see him playing injury free unfortunately. His norm is to get dinged.

So basically his (first year) tag value for two years in a row.

Makes sense all around why he would sign that deal and also why JS let him walk. Will be interested to see if JS spends that cap room on a veteran OG.

I was hoping that we could keep K-9 as he and Charbs were an excellent 1-2 punch that helped (mostly) keep both healthy. K-9 really elevated his play in the Playoffs and SB, so not surprised that someone overpaid for him. He has injury history, is not a great receiver, and a relatively poor blocker. I am guessing JS will go after a FA back that is maybe a little less explosive but a better receiver and blocker. Really happy to see us sign Josh Jobe to a “reasonable” deal. Kobe Bryant is replaceable. We just don’t have a lot of draft capital this year, so I am guessing JS will be active in Free Agency and probably trade down in the draft to add a pick or two.

3 years and $81M for Linderbaum. Holy macaroni.

Jobe signs with the Seahawks. Good news!

Unfortunate. That's life for SB winning team. You have good players and everyone else wants them and will pay a premium for them.

Really disappointed. I thought K9 was special enough to keep around. The franchise tag would have done it.

I also imagined that he really liked this organization and would have worked out financial differences to stay here. Of course, I am the idiot that has been heard to ask, "How many millions does one athlete need to have a satisfactory life?" Naive, huh?

As a very ardent Andy Reid fan since his time with the Eagles, I am pleased that he added K9 to Patrick Mahomes arsenal.

It will always, however, be GO HAWKS

At least he is in AFC.

MOBILIZER's avatar

K9 will do as well as the Chiefs OL will allow and not much better. Sure there will be exceptions where his raw talent will springboard him into an explosive play.

rpmschevy's avatar

But love the Rams spending $51 mil per year to their two corners. Both former Chiefs.

Nailor to Coach K and Raiders.

Rusty's avatar

That decreases the market for Shaheed, who hasn’t reached agreement on a contract with anyone yet. Maybe he comes back to the Hawks at a reasonable level.

Coach K is probably following Seaside Joe 'n jumped at it.

K9 had a great season. One, it was shared with Charb and required the right people blocking so he could get a good path to run through. When he runs to the left or right he gets tackled for a loss on so many plays that I would have been surprised if he could replicate this last season again. Then, I admit to not knowing how to recognize the skill level of players who aren't consistent.

The beginning of the exodus of our 4 2022-23 2nd round picks. Maybe Charb and Hall get extensions - we’ll see.
