The Seattle Seahawks will have Leonard Williams on the field when they host the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, putting fans at ease that the player we ranked as the “second best” or “second most important” on the roster will be available to sack Brock Purdy for the first time this season.
Seattle officially ruled out Zach Charbonnet, as expected, and George Holani is questionable with rib and knee injuries. This would mean that undrafted rookie Robert Henry, who the team just picked up off of Washington’s practice squad, could have a huge role against the 49ers. Henry and Velus Jones are the only running backs on the 53-man roster behind Emanuel Wilson.
Julian Neal, Irv Charles, and Chazz Surratt were ruled out. The team opened up Charles’ 21-day activation window this week.
Williams leads the Seahawks with three sacks, one in each of the team’s first three games. Per Next Gen Stats, Williams is the most effective defensive tackle in the NFL when facing a double-team, generating a pressure rate of 13% in those situations.
If Williams is getting doubled, it means more opportunities for Byron Murphy and Jarran Reed, among others.
Purdy is the only starting quarterback in the NFL this season to not be sacked and just the fifth since 1970 to go through his team’s first four games without being sacked. Seattle could be the first defense to do it and Williams is a huge part of that plan.
On offense, the Seahawks will likely be leaning on Wilson in the run game. Henry is someone who we may have only seen in a preseason setting if he were on the roster in August, but he’s perhaps just a snap away from being on the field for first place in the NFC West.
That’s just how Seattle’s season has gone at running back.

Is it me or does it kind feel like the offense is limping along, without a solid running game. I’m feeling like once we get Zach back, our teams scoring will go up significantly per game. Having an offense centered around the running game and having Emmanuel Wilson as your best option in the back field, leaves a lot to be desired.
I do think Price’s injury to his first or second rib and shoulder girdle impacted his ability to hold the ball tightly against his body. He has a history of ball security issues, but I think this injury made it worse. If his top couple of ribs and shoulder got squished by LJ Collier enough in that game, it makes it almost impossible to hold a ball tight against your body.
If these two get healthy and we have them on the back nine of the season I think we will see something a little different than what we have seen
Judging from what you’ve seen of the gunners so far this year, do you feel pretty certain Irv Charles will likely be activated for the Broncos or Chiefs game and get to show what he brings to ST?
