I am not the biggest fan of drafting AR15 but I am not against it. When will the Seahawks be drafting at #5 again? Hopefully not for another 10-15 years (unless we fleece someone in a future trade, that is). I also am quite OK with adding offensive talent such as a WR in round 1. The scheme here under Waldron makes everyone look good and a third top-notch WR will only give opposing defenses even more fits.

I will say that I would NOT be looking for a "WR3," however. If I am going WR in the first round I am looking for a #1 WR! Tyler Lockett is getting older and having his replacement on the roster this year would be quite the luxury while also making this offense downright scary. It would also give Richardson the chance to start working with his future #1 right away during his "redshirt" year.

I am pretty much always OK with drafting good OL talent. I would be fine with a Center, Guard or OT at 20, 37 and/or 52. Having a stud OL all on rookie contracts gives a team so much peace of mind.

I would like to see some DL talent with the early picks but I really am fine with loading up on offense. Offense wins in today's NFL!

I think Evan Brown is good enough to be the starting center. They don't need to draft one that early. This is a good center class and they can get one later to develop. Making Smith is a good choice but I'd be surprised if he'd be available at 52. He might not be there at 37 but if he is then he should be taken. More defense at 52.

“Getting more talented bodies on the interior of the offensive line would be welcomed by ALL Seahawks fans.”

I agree with you wholeheartedly, and I think the same applies to the defensive line. And LB needs Bobby on a “2 year” contract plus a high quality development pick like Jordyn Brooks. Build the lines!! Errors like MacDowell and Collier (and others)need to be compensated for as much as possible. Good running backs and receivers can be acquired in later rounds. When you consider that a running back like Rocky Pacheco was acquired in the seventh round, then you know what I’m talking about.

I really don't like AR15 at #5 but I'm OK with all the other picks. In my perfect world the Seahawks would trade down from #5 to something in the teens and pick up a '24 first round pick from some team that's going to tank. They would use this years pick on a defense player and get Grayson McCall in round four next year.

I am sad to see AL Woods has been cut, mostly because from the outside, he seems like a guy I would want to play with. I have never heard anything but praise for the big man. A leader on and off the field, thanks Champ. With that move, Seattle might be looking at one round 1 or round 2 DT plus one or two more in free agency. We can see they are rebuilding the interior of the D Line, I guess Woods $4 million was to much for the number of snaps he played. There are few rookies who make an immediate impact in the middle 3 of the defense, this is why I feel they have a couple of free agents lined up.

I saw one commentator say he would like Anthony Richardson to be drafted by Seattle because Pete would find ways to use him. That would be exciting, but I believe the league is going to allow an emergency 3rd quarterback to be rostered. Depending on what rules come with it, it may preclude AR from playing. The old rule was your 3rd string QB needed to be named, and spot duty wasn't allowed. Another thing Seattle will get clarified.

I think runningback will be a first 4 pick. Austin Ekler would be a fine man for the job and the Chargers have allowed him to seek a trade. Contract and trade demands makes that feel out of reach. Ekler scored 18 TDs last season and 16 the year before. The NFL must figure a way to get these brave men the money they deserve. It wasn't that long ago teams would be linning up and paying for his services. At 28 years old he is close to what most so called experts see as the end of his career by age 30, what a shame !

Hooker is my favorite but I have not seen him play in person. I live in Dallas and I have seen Dugan play. He has got moxie and underrated athleticism but he did not look like a pro QB to me. Too much air on the ball. Targets receivers out of the break. In my mind he is a high character version of Johnny Football. Saw him play too.

Really do not want the Hawks to take a qb this year unless Bryce Young was available (not likely at all). Wait til next year and Call in that Son of Color guy.

Because of all the Jack Campbell buzz, I decided I'd start watching Iowa games I can easily find. The first one I found with a cursory Google was their 13-10 win over Minnesota. And holy shit he looks great! Forced 2 fumbles at the end on consecutive drives to save the game, outran the whole field! Should any prefer to watch a game condensed into 8 minutes, (feel free to remove if you'd rather me not link YouTube here) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic_mnfIBFF0&ab_channel=BigTenNetwork , One player took over the 4th quarter, and of all positions a linebacker. The announcers called lots of names on both teams that will be drafted in a month.

My final analysis on Jack Campbell having only watched highlights, a couple of live games during his college career, and one condensed version of one game (although I've watched it three times tonight) is that we must not let another team draft Jack Campbell! I already see what all the Captain Jack fuss is about. He looks like the best athlete on the field. My only worry is durability. He's a hitter, and you can only throw your full body mass into men larger than you for so long before you hurt something.

I would be the world's worst scout because I can't find flaws in some players. Sometimes I'll watch a game to see one player and the running back for the other team is tearing it up. I'll look him up and he's got a 5th round grade on him. How anyone can grade out that Zay Flowers is a better receiver than Christian Gonzolez is a corner or whatever blows my mind. At least with like a dog show or something, there's a strict standard they're adhering to. Christian Okoye and Barry Sanders were hall of famers at the same position.

Thanks, I enjoyed the film. LaPorta stood out to me the most. I'll have to watch again, I couldn't find Jack C. on all the plays. That Minnesota RB might be a late round gem.

Jack Campbell just sounds like a football player to me. I'm think his great great grandfather or something is in the hall of fame? The name rings a bell to me. Or maybe I am seeing the future?

LaPorta looked great blocking and even better receiving. Ibraham (sp?) was tearing it up on the ground and kept breaking off big plays. That was a fun football game. Mrs. Turtleman cannot comprehend why I watch "football games that already happened," but it gets me excited for the draft and more interested in the NFL in general since most of these players will go to other teams.

Thanks, I enjoyed that. Firstly, the Iowa QB sure struggled to catch the ball in shotgun. The Goofers' runningback looked good. Campbell looks like a very good run defender from what I have read and seen. His height will make it hard to throw it over him. Close to KJs size. 6ft 5 250 lbs. They say he is not fluid in his hip movement. I think he is a football player. Looks like he could be a day 2 pick. I don't know how any linebacker is supposed to cover a good receiver, but it is always a complaint. Ball skill arm length and his height should make up for this

I just hope that Mingo and Ringo end up on different teams in the same conference so we can see them go up against each other.

BINGO! What a play by Mingo on Ringo! They will have to rename that route the Slingo!

I like Mauch better than Schmitz at C, plus he's totally a Seattle kind of O-Lineman. Can play anywhere in the trenches and may just be best at center. I also like Wright better, even though he'd pretty much just be a guard. Mauch is nice because if Brown ends up being the best center option, Mauch would slot into guard much easier than Schmitz. We could also run some "Gilliam" sets and use 6 linemen. I think, because of his athleticism, having Lucas be the "Gilliam" TE would be scary for defenses.

Wow, Kiper has made that stupid trade from 4 to 3? To end up taking the same player? Or to potentially take the guy that the Cardinals were going to take at 3? Insane. Makes no sense for either team, with the exception of the case where the Colts move up to 3 and take Will Anderson who the Cardinals had intended to take? Which makes the Cardinals maroons.

Coming from a person who would probably fail a logic's course, picking AR15 makes sense. It is like that all but guarantees that this won''t happen. When was the last time Kiper made a successful prediction about a Seahawks draft pick? He doesn't actually understand Pete speak or maybe he doesn't have time to actually follow what coaches and GM's say? There are 32 teams and I spend all my time on one team. I could not spend this much time following all 32 teams. I would need hundreds of hours per day. So, perhaps Kiper's ignorance is understandable.

OTOH I could be wrong and Kiper could finally get one right. It is certainly possible.

As to what THIS draft genius thinks?

Trade down to about 24 in two or three different trade downs if possible. (Highly unlikely) and mostly gaining 2 first rounders for next year.

1.20 Bijan Robinson

1.24 Calijah Kancey

2.34 Mazi Smith

2.37 Darnell Washington (there is a u tube where he pushes a sled. Meyer is really weak compared to Washington. He moved the sled at the speed I cut my grass.)

2.52 Adetomiwa Adebawore

3.70 Keeanu Benton

3.88 DJ Turner CB, Michigan

3.96 Zach Pickens DI

4.123 Jonathan Mingo WR (I had to choose, but I love Charlie Jones here, too)

5.151 Dorian Williams LB

5.154 Cameron Young DI

6. 198 Juice Scruggs C

7. 237 Mahamoud Diabate

If the NFL is your passion, you could keep up with all teams. Getting to know personalities would be hard. We have been lucky for 13 years getting to know some of Pete and John speak.

Yes, and studying the draft and watching the college ball familiarizes me with a lot of the players that end up on other teams and enhances my enjoyment of the game. But I am talking about becoming familiar with each teams' needs, weaknesses, likely draft picks based upon history, ownership, coaching tree, and many other factors makes the task too daunting for one person and why GM's rely on an expansive coaching group, scouts, and lesser team watchers, which I have heard they get reports from.

Just like one of us might be a spy for the Cowboys, and report daily on team morale, and little tidbits one would learn from local media or blogs like this one. I'm just one man with no real background in the subject other than being a fan for years. Looking back, sometimes I wish I had known the complexities and possible job opportunities in the field and chosen it to follow. Maybe signing on as a team manager in high school. But I had other dreams to follow. Still, it might have been fun.

The challenge, currently, is that the defense is almost criminally lacking up the middle, DL and LB.

IF we can clear enough cap to hedge those deficiencies before the draft, I like these suggestions. But if we can't or don't hedge, waiting until Round 3 to get started would be very risky. This is why you hedge all you can before the draft so you don't have to push players up your draft board to fill obvious needs....

Okay this is getting fun. The Richardson logic is Richardson needs time to develop and Seattle has time. Nobody asks does Richardson strengths fit the Waldron offense Pete believes in. Answer no they do not. If I am Waldron I am saying look I made Geno Smith into all pro with this offense and my reward is a player who cannot run and very likely will never run the concepts I believe in. Russ was bad enough- I quit.

Now if the Seahawks draft Smith - a third receiver with Cooper Kupps’s skills I think Waldron is you ain’t seen nothing yet.

100%. Waldron's scheme could turn any one of Bennet, Hooker, or (still my fav) Duggan into an above-average NFL QB.

I prefer Josh Downs to JSN if Seattle drafts a receiver at 20. He is a bit faster than JSN and his football character is sky-high. I know you don’t predict specific players to Seattle but read the interviews with this kid and I’ll bet you start privately hoping he becomes a Seahawk 🙂

Add a center JMS and a NT Mazi Smith in Round 2? Yes! Sign me up for that.

I think they signed Love, so if Adaams is hurt, they can still play their defense, which they couldn't last year. Love had the green dot on his helmet for the Giants and led them in tackles
