Lots of content here SSJ, there’s like three entire newsletters here in just one day. In Year 6 of an SSJ newsletter EVERY DAY. You do this a lot too, arguably SSJ is two-or-three-a-day for the past 6 yrs if you’re a Super Joe. Super impressive given the depth of these too, no throw-aways.

You could have stretched out some of these questions for several newsletters but you did them all at once.

Just wanted to note this and to thank you for the dedication and the commitment. The single best value in sports journalism.

Nailed it with that last sentence. And it’s not even close.

I think, in this draft, I would value TE over QB. Because I think the Kubiak offense wants TE play we don’t have. And a FB!

“I can’t dismiss edge rushers as a first round target for the Seahawks”

Neither can I. No team ever has enough pass rushers. It may be the only premium position that is always a position of need no matter what a depth chart looks like. If JSMM see one they like at #18, I for one have no problem with waiting until Day 2 to draft a guard or center. I just don’t want to wait until Day 3.

FWIW, Brandon Thorn (Trench Warfare) told Mike Dugar of The Athletic that we shouldn’t press the panic button on Haynes:

“I saw him get walked back a couple times from bull rushes, but not anything out of the ordinary from anybody else — on that line especially, but just across the league. A rookie coming in where he was drafted, I thought there were some positives, too. It was a lot more even with some promise as opposed to, ‘We whiffed, and he shouldn’t have gotten drafted.’ I didn’t see that.”

100% agree! I also wanted to bring up that Athletic article. It is certainly interesting how Thorns' view differs from Grubbs' regarding Haynes!

I’m thinking, depends on draft goes, Edge or S if stay at 18. NT/DT and S if drop. I hear ya about Zabel and Sacramento ex Newport kid, but at same time, the Senior Bowl actual game these OLine kids gotten eaten up by the DLine/Edge players. I’ve said before, OLine kids just not ready, overall, for success early in NFL. Game has shifted. Elite studs always will do well. But Pennell recent example, didn’t solidify himself until year 2, after switching sides. Now a stud.

Super important point about current o-linemen coming out of college. Patience is often required and we need to remember that with our current kids at the position. Just because year 1 wasn’t first class, doesn’t mean they won’t get there.

Appreciate the response to my Q! I have been keeping an eye on Tyler Warren cause he seems like a weapon all over the field. My only concern is how that would affect AJ Barner's development, but still worth considering if he's available to us. I've also been eyeing Jihaad Campbell. What Warren and Campbell bring to either side the offense or defense is positional flexibility. Jihaad is a ILB that can cover as well rush the passer and play the run. Warren is a willing/adept blocker with wide receiver-like upside as well as a chess piece as an Hback. With these kinds of players, you put the onus on the offensive or defensive coordinator to confound/outperform the other side. With a neck up coach like Mike McDonald chasing "edges" these are the kinds of players that my provide that "edge" they seek.

Keep up the good work Kenneth!

I wrote a comment under the last article about how I think Campbell could be the special Type of Player that could let JS and MM forget about the needs at Edge and iOL in the First round. A unicorn for the defence and a playmaker for MM!

As the most highly regarded armchair GM within 30 ft of my recliner, I think we need to go with an LS (not a serious need but 'people are saying' it's strong class for long snappers)... or perhaps a guard/center, with our first pick. Ruling out an LS, I'd expect a smash mouth G/C with pick #1 will make a 3rd round WR or RB 'look like' a 2nd round WR or RB. Confused yet? If not, I'm not trying hard enough. GO HAWKS!

Agree and in the case of Warren (like Kittle) you also get an OL improvement. Hope he falls to 18

Do like your 2 examples if players fall. I know we all liked what we saw from AJ, but Klint definitely could use a stud skilled TE. I believe S, if there, is the pick but I could see Warren.

If DK is traded a WR at 18 or 2nd round . Love the Tenn trade down. FA center is a must. They're the QBs of the OLine. We haven't had a good one since we traded Max Unger many moons ago. Dart, Ewers or Hudson in the 2nd or 3rd round. We've gone as far as we can go with Geno and I think he'll be traded to Pete. The 25 QB class is underrated.

JS can't mess up this off season or he's the next one out the door.

There's a lot of buzz growing around spending big in FA on a C/G and drafting a G/T in Rd1. Idk ...

I do think we'll spend in FA at the position, but it'll be a Ben Brederson level player, that 2nd tier. And I think we're going to see no OLine at all drafted in 1 or 2. I'll say now Rd1 and 2 will be an offensive pass catcher and a DB.

But I'm looking forwards to next week, a big week. Post SB moves as a lot of key contract deadlines come in. This week will be the big bug tell as to what direction the off-season will go. Bring it on!!!
