Anyone else feel Jalen Milroe could be QB2 this year? This is the last year of Lock’s contract. I think we’ll be witnessing a pretty stiff competition in preseason to see if Milroe can move up a peg.

This article highlights how funny the phrase "Franchise QB" is.

How many draft picks have been dubbed, "And now (Team X) has drafted their Franchise QB and are good for many seasons to come." Two years later, that QB is gone far more often than not.

"And with the first pick in the draft the Raiders get their "Franchise" QB, Fernando Mendoza," ... What are the chances he is the Raiders starting QB in 2029?

All this is to say, the obsession with QBs is a farce. Love what JS has done at the position. Recieved endless questions and criticism since the RW trade about the QB. Never panics. Wins a SB.

Like Seaside Joe's articles states: https://seasidejoe.substack.com/p/seahawks-super-bowl-fernando-mendoza?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=post%20viewer

No one seems to notice.

I've convinced myself there are more bad QB situations than bad QB's. I think a lot of these guys can play, if they just had the right coaches and the right environment to allow them to grow and thrive. I don't know what Jalen Milroe will become, but he's in the perfect environment to perfect his craft. If he doesn't succeed, it will be because he just isn't a starting caliber NFL QB. We won't know until training camp how different he will look from last preseason.

Hawks Coaches are THE most professional of all coaching, with MM steering the ship using some damn good advice from his #2. Preseason WILL show us the progress Jalen Milroe has made in training or we'll see him opted to a potential running back vacancy with Lock securing QB2. It'll be that or gone. Keeping a berth on this roster demands positive performance.

I currently love Sam Darnold. The main reason I feel this way is as much because of his character as his QB skills. He does not seem to mind doing what it takes to win even if it means he’s not maximizing his numbers and MVP votes. It would not surprise me to see his numbers go up significantly this year. The loss of K9 and the injury to Charbs and the uncertainty of the effectiveness of the run game may require SD to add 500+ yards to his passing totals and 12 TDs. I also feel we will see a significant reduction in his turnovers this year. He was solid at protecting the ball the last five games he played, and despite playing more playoff games than anyone except Maye, he had the fewest turnovers. I think a big part of that is his confidence. He wasn’t rattled one bit by the championship game pressure or the pressure of playing the Rams.

My only concern is what will he be asking for next year if the hawks win another Super Bowl? He’d probably be justified in asking for $60ish million. If that’s the case, 27 could be his last year here. It almost makes me hope that JS breaks with tradition and extends him this year. I have little doubt he can win a few more super bowls on the right team, and he’s on one of those right teams.

Sam needs a Team that is like Family to him and he's got that here. His quirks demand it. There comes a point where these wildmoney contracts begin breaking a Team and Schneider won't allow it. He'll have a cap, even for Sam.

I am pretty excited to see the offense next year as I think SD can and will take a step forward.

That will also raise the stakes for his potential extension. Which will be interesting to see how it plays out. Could be a moot point if SD values Seattle and the front office, may take a Tom Brady time contract to enjoy potential extended success rather than pushing the market. I think that is very possible.

However, unlike JSN with the last year of his rookie deal plus 5th year option to soften the blow, SD doesn't really have that. So if he has another year like 2025, I don't see the Hawks going too much higher than that $45M range. But we will see. Should be very interesting as always.

We’ll see.I think he could be clearly in the top 5 QB talk after this season if they win it all again.

He will have a great chance.

So much support for him from the team, the city, the coach, the front office etc.

Second year on the team. Receivers are back. Offensive line is back.

It is amazing that I don't hear this talked about too much. Reminds me a little of the playoff run. When i was thinking things like "You guys really think Darnold is more likely to turn the ball over than Purdy?"

Now I think, "You guys really think Stafford isn't a question mark? And Darnold can't get even better?" ... I see it much more likely Darnold gets better and Stafford regresses than the other way around.

The Rams are all in on this year. They currently have no plan for post Stafford.

Sam loves it here, so I think (hope) when the time comes, John and he will be able to work out a number that makes sense for both sides.

Fingers crossed!
