Hey a curiosity someone here may be able to address: how do the pre-draft comments for Lamar Jackson compare to Anthony Richardson? Didn’t he have major accuracy concerns although “great athlete”? I seem to recall even questions about him changing positions like to WR?
And questions re his durability given his proclivity to run.
Don’t know why it didn’t occur to me AR might be a more durable Lamar Jackson. All the comps are to Cam Newton but could be Lamar just as easy?
1.5 CJ Stroud Song references the "213", a Los Angeles-area phone code. Stroud was the Elite 11 overall winner the year he competed in it, an event held in LA.
1.5 Is JALEN CARTER, he's out with the girls, late night, big trouble, the whole song makes me think of Carter's night of infamy.
1.20 Gotta be someone big, broader than broadway in fact. Made me think Mazi Smith but I don't think you'd do that having gotten Carter at 5. So I'm going with DARNELL WRIGHT and they kick Lucas inside to guard (where he'll instantly be a Pro Bowler IMHO, and the running game will be absurdly good -- assuming we get a center sometime soon)
2.37 I was thinking it would have to be someone from the Pacific Northwest, but there's no one I'd take at this spot other than Daiyan Henley who's not a Wagner replacement. So I'm going with one of my favorite guys, who's from NorthwestERN -- ADETOMIWA ADEBAWORE
2.52 Sure feels like an inside OL, close and physical. Probably my hope making me go in this direction bc I so badly want a center somewhere around here in the draft, but I'm guessing you got a center at 52. I don't know what your board looks like but pretty sure Schmitz won't be here, so I'm going with JOE TIPPMAN at center -- although if it's Schmitz, or Wypier or even Steve Avila to play center, I'll be happy
3.83. Cupid hit me with precision; and all the chasing, gotta be a receiver. But, there's also stuff about going to war, so I think it's a tight end bc it's such a good class this year and WR is not very good. So I'm going to guess TUCKER KRAFT esp bc he's as good a receiver as some of the receivers
4.123 Sounds like someone with a troubled past, or someone who's risky in some way. I'm going to go with the latter, someone who's risky -- may not get this far down the draft but am going with DEWAYNE MCBRIDE at RB, the risk being he fumbles so much (which may kill him for Pete, period). But Seattle needs a legitimate RB to match up with Kenneth and DeeJay, let's go with McBride here and his risky fumbling
5.151 Amazing song, wow, hadn't thought of it for a long time but it's so meaningful, thanks! I'm going with the obvious I guess -- a) someone really fast, and b) a cornerback to hold to Seattle's tradition of athletic 5th round CB's. Again, not knowing what your board looks like but guessing this guy and his 32"7/8 arms could still be there, let's say Terell Smith at CB
5.154. Hahahaha love this song....gotta be DEUCE VAUGHN another RB -- and btw Seattle will need a 4th RB -- who should be really awesome in the return game at minimum, good choice in the 5th rd if he lasts this long.
6.198. This player isn't named Sue, but his dad didn't do him any favors with this name either. How about JAQUELIN ROY at DL with this pick
7.237. Guess I shouldn't be overthinking this deep in the draft. Didn't find a Blackstreet or Teddy but perhaps a Blake could still be available, so let's go back to the OL with that very long and athletic OT BLAKE FREELAND,
I love these guesses, great job. You are right about Deuce Vaughn.
I will say you are right about a pick and a player, I'm just waiting to see if anyone can make the intended connection, which is fairly straightforward. I'll say that the artist shares a name with a player closely connected and often comped to this player.
You are right about another player, but at the wrong selection. I'll detail some more evidence soon! Thanks for your guesses!
Warren Sapp and Jalen Carter both from the same high school. Though Sapp is also a comparison for Carter, that's probably not a good comp, they aren't all that similar. But yes, same high school and often connected.
I was “almost” right about Mallory too but in the Charles Cross sense — had him there first, then changed my mind cuz thought you’d taken a TE earlier 😡. Shoulda stuck with first instincts….
Really fun!, and I’m super impressed you took the time to set this up.
Regulator Witherspoon for obvious reasons. After that I don’t know. Unless a team has the first pick deciding in advance who the selection will be is decidedly not letting the draft come to you and taking BPA. If they are really doing what Danny says then Pete is just messing with you.
Short People is a very anti-short person parody song, so I expect the tallest player at his position (somewhere). I have reason to expect a selection from the PNW and one from the U (Hurricanes). The rest is digging into complete madness.
I trade down with Washington to 16 and take a not short person, Darnell Washington, TE. Then at 20 I took another very tall person in Dawand Jones. At 37 I take the tallest RB, Zach Charbonnet. UCLA. At 45 I take the tall and lanky Emmanuel Forbes. 6 foot 1 inch tall and 166 pounds. No one, and I mean no one flies around like Emmanuel Forbes. This guy is lightening. At 52 I got down to the defensive trenches finally with Keeanu Benton. 6'4" 309. At 78 I got LBer Daiyan Henley, Washington State and local guy who loves home or something something. At 83 I got Jonathan Mingo WR, Mississippi. Tall WRer. 6'2" 220. Give him #22. At 123 I got Ya Ya Diaby, EDGE. Louisville. At 151 I got Moro Ojomo. DL. More for the trenches. It's about time. At 155 I got safety Daniel Scott from California. Good value. At 198 I got Braeden Daniels, IOL, Utah. At 237 I got Cameron Young, DL, Alabama, sweet home Alabama. At 247 I got Chris Stoll, LS, Penn St.
This draft is dedicated to the running game and protecting our home town discount, Geno Smith. It solidifies the OL and even adds a dominate blocking TE. We get a tall, but versatile RB to complement K9 who can pass protect and be the 3rd down back. The rest of the draft tries to catch up on the DL but isn't what I wanted. I sure like Karl Brooks who went at 65 in this draft, which is really rich. Still he has one of the highest pass rush win rates or some stat I was impressed with, and he is sort of a huge DE in the Red Bryant tradition. But I didn't get him. Maybe Cameron Young can do that.
You had me until DTR "because I want him"... reminds me of Gollum saying "I wants it". Not good enough. So we carry a third string QB on our 53? I don't think so. But it was a fine start.
I listened to all the music and that led me to listening to more music and pretty soon I'd forgotten what I was here for. I need to keep focused on my job as an armchair general manager. I'll run a few more mocks and see if it jogs my mind for connections to clues. But trying to make sense of Pete's clues leads to madness. So hunt responsibly.
You nailed it, Bill. Two for Two. Had a hard time thinking of ones for Mallory--I wanted to do something maybe about Jaguars or Jacksonville, because his dad was ST coordinator for the Jaguars. Went straight for it with Miami Hurricanes.
And yeah, I was at a loss for Deuce Vaughn, so I just went straight for it.
No short people, this clue is saying they love tall people. Of course, this is like a rorchat test where we see what we want to see, and what I want to see is Dawand Jones and Darnell Washington on the same team.

2.52: Canadian twins! Safety Sydney Brown from Illinois, also a Canadian twin (rb Chase Brown)
4th round: Renee Zellweger -> Bridget Jones = WR Charlie Jones?
Good guess. You are on the right track with RZ. It's a tough one to figure out. For anyone who gets it, I'll definitely say "Yee Haw!"
Rod Tidwell (represented by Jerry McGuire)?
Maybe Isaiah McGuire
Nice guess! Think actress, not roles. Biographical details.
ok, thanks Joe. I learned that she went to Texas. So how about Roschon Johnson there (who Danny Kelly says "shades of Chris Carson"?
(otherwise, final guess Moro Ojomo)
Awesome work! RZ is from Katy, TX. Ojomo went to Katy High. You are correct!
#151 Will Mallory, TE, UMiami — the Hurricanes
I guessed without cheating, and got it right, but not the first one to do so.
Good guess!
20. Here comes Caljah Kancey.
52. Hendon the Hooker wants you to come closer.
123. Tyler Steen. Liv Tyler appears in video.
237. Yasir Abdullah no. 22 on jersey.
I love that Tyler Steen guess. Was going to have a Steen pick but no he did not get in there.
Good guesses, Max!

YES! You got it, Bill!!

It might be a ruse, but it is not a rouse.
1) Jalen Carter because he's a bullDogg
2) Mazi Smith is broader than Broadway
3) Josh Downs because this song seems "down" on the idea of home
4) Cody Mauch has a "physical" reputation
5) Luke Wypler because Why-pler not? Also Luke kissed his sister and there's lots of kissing in this song
6) Noah Sewell -> Rufus Sewell -> starred with Renee Zellweger in a recent Judy Garland biopic --> this song
7) DTR because I want him and he might be here. Not a hurricane but whatever
8) someone extra short or extra tall?
I give up on the rest. Surprise me Seaside Pete and Seaside John!
There is a correct guess in here, but waiting to see if anyone can make the correct connection between player and song/artist.
You had me until DTR "because I want him"... reminds me of Gollum saying "I wants it". Not good enough. So we carry a third string QB on our 53? I don't think so. But it was a fine start.

5th round:
“Hurricane” - Miami TE Will Mallory
“Short People” - 5’5” rb Deuce Vaughn
You nailed it, Bill. Two for Two. Had a hard time thinking of ones for Mallory--I wanted to do something maybe about Jaguars or Jacksonville, because his dad was ST coordinator for the Jaguars. Went straight for it with Miami Hurricanes.
And yeah, I was at a loss for Deuce Vaughn, so I just went straight for it.
Both picks are correct!
Damn I had Will Mallory but changed it bc thought you'd taken a TE earlier...dang....but I got Deuce right so that's one at least
No short people, this clue is saying they love tall people. Of course, this is like a rorchat test where we see what we want to see, and what I want to see is Dawand Jones and Darnell Washington on the same team.
2.37
Kelee Ringo, CB Georgia - Ringo spent some of his childhood in Tacoma = take me home
Did not know or forget about Ringo's connection to Tacoma. Good guess, not the one I had in mind there!
*there’s no place like home
Next year refers to taking Penix next year! Probably y trading down for a pick next year
Just keep in mind that tweet was from last year.
